I started wearing my hair like that in about 1988 after purchasing a pair or Nefertiti earrings. Nefertiti was popular at the time and I got so many compliments on my earrings that I said "i'm going to do my hair up high on my head like that." Didnt take me no time to perfect it and everyone loved it, AND I MEAN EVERYONE My mother was like "thats how your grandmother use to wear her hair in the 1940s." For months I had strangers, friends and hairdressers coming up to me asking me how I did it, how I got it to "stand up" and all sorts of stuff. People tried to imitate it but couldnt do it. It was something. I swear I think I brought that style back that became popular like in 1990, with a French twist in the back.
