It's interesting to see that because these new videos in quarantine are recorded by the interviewee themselves, this genius cinematographer even paid quite a lot of attention how to frame himself. Look at the scene and its perspective.

Thanks for this interview. Robert Richardson is one of my favorite, if not THE favorite, directors of photography. I could listen to him talk for hours. JFK is a masterpiece. How I would love a commentary track by him, Pietro Scalia and Joe Hutshing.

Wow crazy timing! Just binge-watched interviews on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood today. He's very lucky with all the great films he's worked with. And to shoot a film, freezing with broken back, that's just badass.

Agreed! Easily my favorite looking Scorsese film he shot. Best use of his trademark hot spotlight effect ever I felt. And that color palette of emphasizing red, white & black in particular, so haunting. Also the various ways they photograph the ambulance racing down the street, seared in my brain forever. Especially when scored to The Clash, Van Morrison, etc.

Nah, in the industry Bob is in the top rated. There’s heaps of cinematographers just as good that don’t get as much praise as Bob does. My best friend knows some people that worked with him on Django and Hateful 8.
