@Marius Periwinkle Ehhh, they're not that bad. The whole cast was great, the music as well (it's Howard Shore, duh) and visually I think they were beautiful as well, despite the overuse of CGI. People are way too harsh on them, partially because of the high standards set by LotR.
@SuperHansimann4 жыл бұрын
@@evanus I agree. Although they are too long and isn't as fun second time watching.
@pawepetek72944 жыл бұрын
@@evanus Hobbit would be a lot better if they focused more on the main characters and not pointless side quests like all this Gandalf quest to fight with Sauron, and Tauriel and Legolas. I think it would be better if Smaug was more mentioned and Bolg was a villian instead of Azog. And if Beorn had a bigger part of course. But they went with Radagast's character, Thorin&Azog backstory, Tauriel, Kili and Legolas love triangle and Thranduil hatred for dwarves. If they actually spent time on the characters maybe the goodbye scene from the Battle of the Five Armies wouldn't look so ridiculous.

I was no fan of fantasy or the Hobbit/LOTR books/movies until I just happened upon The Desolation of Smaug on TV. I started watching it, loved Freeman's portrayal of Bilbo, and stopped what I was watching and went to An Unexpected Adventure, and binge watched the 3 movies in one day (Did the same for the Godfather movies LOL). From there I finally watched the LOTR movies last year after watching the 3 Hobbit movies. But my favorite will always be the Hobbit movies. All the actors did an awesome job, Ian McKellen across all 6 movies, of course, but Martin Freeman's portrayal of Bilbo is my most favorite part of the 6 movies. Freeman and Ian Holm make it completely believable that they are the same character, at different times in their life. Brilliant. The Hobbit movies are one of my top favorite movie series of all time, behind the Godfather series of movies

I love Martin Freeman and think he is a marvellous actor. He always embodies a role vs just, as he put it, "emoting all over". Each character he plays, including the fantasy one, feels real, like someone you could meet up with for a coffee or run into around a corner. It's interesting seeing so many of his roles illuminated in this way and to see how different each of them are with his brilliant portrayal making each feel alive.
