He could break down the whole movie in this style and I would watch it. Seeing how to movies get made and have a sneak peak at all the archive bts footage is such a treat. Got any take in the movie there is probably 10 different versions or angles of it we’ll never get to see.

Check out Corridor Crew if you haven't. They show you a side of filmmaking you rarely get to see and invite the people who make thе movies to discuss how they achieved these magical wonders.

there is a channel called corridor crew which has a series called vfx artists react, stuntmen react and they react to movies and get the actual artists that worked on these movies to share how it was done fully. higly reccomend giving it a watch :) many big names are coming on tehre as guests.

kinda scary how there’s only 80 shots without visual effects. hats off to this dude he basically had to create the outside world digitally also I can’t imagine how tiring it must be for tom to perform 90% of the scenes in front of a green screen

I gotta say I specifically remember the car thrown into the water barrels and thinking how cool that looked that it had to be practical. Props to Port but there is still no beating those kind of shots

A huge downside for marvel is its so hard to shoot in NYC so that's why they are forced for use blue screen all the time... I remember at the end of FFH tom is with zendaya doing the final swing.. that was shot in NYC but it took so long to shoot because Papz and people kept walking in front of camera's.

Batman is the most practical superhero ever. Anyone can be like him. The movie itself compared to TDK is way more practical, especially the chase. Comparing The Batman to NWH is weird considering Spider-Man isn’t possible and the MCU in general is often goofy compared to Reeves’ portrayal of Gotham (for now).

I keep thinking “Marvel is Jsut flexing at this point- I’m so jealous” but I realize, it’s WAY easier to use building and animation skills to create a longer set extension, because of Covid, and I’m actually really happy they did this, they are masters and don’t have to worry too much, because a lot of times it’s not noticeable, but it’s really good

Not really, visual effects artists are not unionized and are underpaid and overworked. Marvel uses them instead of production workers who build sets etc are affiliated with unions cuz it saves them a lot of money

Being part of these films must in some ways be really depressing for veteran actors who remember real sets, attention to details or crunchtime for daylight. Because now, most everything is done later and you have little concept of what a scene is going to look like, for somebody has an idea and everything is turned on its head... I like my VFX being necessary and not necessarily a sign for lazy cinematography where corners are being cut for convenience. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Its not about stupid tentacles, its about the laziness of shooting a friggin street scene without any action on an actual street instead of a blue screen and edit the house and street in later. Did you not hear him gloat about 80 shots without CG? Even the seatbelt click was re-timed, so its actually 79...

Yes and No, everything is done in PREVIS ( previsualization), which means the actors has an idea what the environment looks like

@@Ganiscol Shooting in the streets is cool, but is also a logistical and financial nightmare with little control. Most people won’t notice most of the stuff in this video either. If the tool works, it works.

i agree that they do overuse cgi at some points but its also important to remember that this was filmed at the height of covid before vaccines were widespread, jon watts even said they planned a full ny shoot but they had to change that because of covid and simple shots were made difficult because of that too

Oscar worth it for just visual effects, I knew about special effects but man ... They managed to build a whole new world and make it look so real. I can't say what's real and what's not. That's why cinema is an art. Big applause for all that 2d and 3d animators that worked so hard to make this masterpiece possible...

I love seeing stuff like this and what goes into the CGI. I figured the fight scenes would be a lot of CG but the stuff like environments looked so good that you didn’t realize it was CGI. I’d like another part to this showing off the CG that went into the Dr Strange fight and the final fight as well

I've never understood that. CGI is a tool to create movies. Why are some people so desperated on hating this tool? When someone starts to complain about CGI being used in movies, I immediately lose much of my respect towards them. Complaining about BAD CGI (like in Black Panther) is valid. Complaining about USE of CGI is idiocy.

I lose respect to the actor. I lose respect to the director. This is basically just an animated film. All the actor has to do is take steroids and act out some facial expressions. that harness stunt doesn't impress me. Take a look at The making of Rurouni Kenshin and Takeru Sato's stunts. That is impressive. That is cinema.

TBH, that's why these movies feel more like video game cut scenes. CGI has gotten good but they're still unable to create weight in scenes. The brain can pick out things that don't make sense if an object were there or when something lands heavy. Just put Tom in the suit and let him flip!

Explains why the movie looks so artificial. For example the lightning looks way off in many scenes, which isn't weird with all that greenscreen. Such a tired production overall, unfortunately.

Now let’s get a breakdown of the Raimi trilogy’s visual effects. Back then, CGI wasn’t as convincing forcing the visual effects department to be more creative and think outisde the box. Which is why there was weight to the action scenes.

@@Franklojpg only the iron spider costume. because you can't make that, metal just isn't that flexible. but the other cloth costumes are real whenever possible like the beginning web swinging sequence.. the fight and acrobatic scenes in this movie have more practical effects than let's see the raimi movies because the swinging scenes in raimi movies look particularly fake because of that.

Look at Corridor Digital’s channel. They go through VFX shots in cinema, Stuntpeople that come on to discuss stunts on camera, and studio and BTS footage with beautiful breakdowns with a great sense of humor.
