I love how he immediately breaks into a run, shows he had already been tense and his fight or flight response at the ready after having seen the meteor in the sky. much more realistic than other horror movie characters who would have just frozen on the spot

However he decided to cast Millie, it was an amazing decision. Not only because it gave deaf people a chance to realize that they can be successful or be actors, but how she actually taught everyone on set how to do sign language and she was able to communicate with Emily and John and everyone even when they weren't filming. And how he made her the lead even with a hearing disability.

lets be real - how many handicapped performers will the Society support. very presumptuous and cringe to say this helped the Deaf community. have hope, sure but eyes wide open too - against Capitalism what will win? Human goodness? or Greed? focus energy on managing Capitalism, thats the bigger and more urgent fight. when the world is made "more right"/" less crooked", handicaps live vibrant, full lives too. but sort out what to exactly focus on. give ONE handicapped person only rises hopes cruelty when the larger backdrop REMAINS.

People are really easily impressed these days. Good film...though I felt the 2nd and 3rd Acts lacked punch and the concluding scene felt derivative of the conclusion of the 1st movie. That said, it was good entertaining fun. Hardly a masterpiece.

Honestly if there’s one thing I love about the flashback scene in the beginning it’s how it explains all the details we see on the downtown street in the first movie that gave us hints about what happened such as how the stoplight had crumbled to the ground which apparently happened because Evelyn backs her car into one of the towers holding it

@@colby6893 acting or not, I appreciate that he wanted to know what it’s like to be in a deaf person shoes, so he casted Millicent Simmonds, who is actually deaf. He even asked her family questions about the topic, had an ASL interpreter on set and Millicent herself helped teach ASL to the cast. That’s true dedication.

I understand what you meant and 10000% agree. Millie brings such a special perspective to the movie that no one else could. I much prefer actors being cast/chosen based on their knowledge of what the character is actually going through, it elevates the performance and it always shows. How many times have i watched something where the acting misses the mark, if they had just cast the right person.

Millie is talented, but you don’t know what you’re talking about. This is like saying DDL was “faking it” when he won an oscar for portraying a person with cerebral palsy

He’s such an amazing director because he engaged in conversations with Milly and Noah, even though they were children, he took their ideas and new thoughts and he didn’t do everything exactly how he wanted, but he listen to everyone and considered everyone’s personal thoughts and ideas which I find so admirable

John (and his wife, Emily), seem like genuinely nice, good people - and ridiculously talented!! I loved A Quiet Place and just saw the sequel and loved it as well. He created such GREAT tension and SUSPENSE in both movies - but maybe even more in the second. I loved how he was cutting back and forth between two or three, high drama scenes. It was so suspenseful, I was literally on the edge of my seat. Love how humble and self-deprecating John is. How refreshing. ❤️

the scene in the car where Emilys character is driving and first sees the monster was so freaking intense. saw it with my mom and i was like 'what would you even do if this was happening and you're sitting there wondering wtf is going on? and then you see THAT??' i honestly don't know that i'd be able to react so swiftly, i'd be in such shock.

I gotta admit, the father reacting to the creature hitting the cop car seemed a little too fast. The meteor trail in the sky didn't seem intense enough a clue to set that hair trigger response.

We just watched this movie in the theater. We hadn't been to a movie theater in 14 months! It felt so amazing to feel like life may be getting back to normal. This was a great movie to come back to the movie theater again! We really enjoyed it. I also accidentally yelled out loud when that first alien attacked the cop car. I think I scared everyone in the theater! We also loved how the perspective changed between a deaf person and hearing person. That was awesome and was very jarring.

Actually, in the first film, you can see a newspaper that briefly tells how these ‘Dark Angels’ came to Earth - via an Asteroid that lands in Mexico ☄️. We simply see that this piece of indirect story telling come to life, so I don’t think that will be the premise of a third movie, if there is a third one, which I hear will be written and directed by someone else.

I know that in sudden jump-scare moments that I freeze (unfortunately)!! When we were preteens, my sister did a very effective jump-scare on me and I froze-up with even my scream not coming out for at least 2-3 seconds. I would be a goner😞😵!
