the start of the sequel is very forgivable considering krasinski didn’t want to make a sequel he was very happy with the first being one and done but the movie studio of course, will always try to milk the franchise. so i’m fine with just accepting that they either handled all of them back to back or we just gonna ignore it .

i just saw a trailer for a 3rd one and i kept thinking no way this is a sequel, are they really ripping off a quiet place and nope, its another sequel and a prequel which feels like a slap in the face but also a fun time🤣 like the 1st one was so good on its 1st watch you want to no more, and the little intro in the sequel makes u want more no way the studios could ignore it🤣

Idk if I'm optimistic but it would be cool seeing the quiet place aliens in a world war z type setting (a big city) in the up and coming movie. Like seeing what lengths they would go to catch something such as climbing sky scrapers and jumping just to get a helicopter or plane and other stuff like that.

First I was a bit confused, but now I get what the title really means. It's not saying that the movie franchise itself is horrible, but rather how the apocalypse displayed in the movies is the worst one to live and survive in when compared to other apocalypses which are fairly easier to survive in. You can makes tons of noise if you want in the latter, but you can't make even the slightest sound in the former. Edit: Dang 1K? Thanks a lot guys!

Honestly I still don't think the world would have fallen at all. Even if the monster armour was somehow made of vibranium or something, the military would surely experiment with sound since that's what the monsters use to hunt.

The premise is cool and really thought provoking - what kllls it for me tho is that so much with the worldbuilding just doesn't make sense. I just can't buy that these creatures would be able to overcome the biggest army and the most armed population in the world so easily, when they can be killed by a farmers shotgun to their face. Sure, they have armour, but we see from the news articles in the house that we knew they were sound based creatures pretty early. If the media was still around when we figured out that, the military likely was still around too. The US army already has soujnd based weaponry used mainly for crowd control today - they'd be blasting every frequency known to man at the creatures withing minutes of figuring out they were sound-only. If the basic equipment on a farm can produce a sound strong enough to stun them completely then they'd be absolutely stomped by the US military. Also while we're at it - shouldn't these creatures be really susceptible and vulnerable to naturally occuring phenomena like thunderstorms or hurricanes? Those are loud, REALLY loud in fact, nature can easily produce sounds like those that puts any concert to shame. How do the creatures cope with that? It's details like these and so many more that just breaks my immersion - and what is a shame is that it's one of those settings that the more you think about it, the less sense it makes. A shame because the premise itself is really cool and unique, and the movies themselves are quiet entertaining.

Wanna play monopoly? Waterfall. Wanna eat pizza rolls? Waterfall. Wanna listen to Weezer? Waterfall. I can't suspend my disbelief past people being so incredibly stupid during that movie. Sure large weapons can probably kill them. But I think the overall problem is that they invaded across the world, or at least the USA in what we can assume are huge numbers across major population centers all around the same time. How can you defend your cities with tanks and airstrikes without carpet bombing indiscriminately? Social fabric breaks down immediately and the supply lines to fuel, service, and transport those tanks becomes logistically impossible within a matter of hours if you are trying to defend the entire landmass of the USA. The roads are blocked, airbase are overrun, etc. There just isn't enough ability to defend all that land if it were to be overrun like that in a surprise attack that fast. Best case scenario the military/government of the USA has secured a much smaller quarantined zone and is defending that. Worst case the entire government has collapsed. Entirely possible when so much breaks down all within a few hours across major population centers.
@0lionheart
@0lionheart 8 ай бұрын
Military vehicles are thirsty, and need regular maintenance and resupply. Plus, they're designed to take on other military vehicles. A discarding sabot round would for sure obliterate one of the creatures but once they're close (and they're fast), cannon is useless. A gunship could hose a few down but it has to land eventually, and the creatures would be there waiting. Those things wouldn't have to physically defeat combat armour anyway, logistics would be the weak spot and they would absolutely wreak havoc on support elements. Wouldn't take long before everything is grounded or abandoned. Militaries aren't laid out to tackle threats like this, there'd be chaos so quickly.

@@0lionheartyes and no. If a bunch of those hit earth we would have either been either many fob across the USA and some high recruitment rates maybe if they consider it a world wide threat without knowing aliens would be on there first. Yes they would commit enough casualties but eventually with all the surveillance we would eventually find a way. You forget we literally develop stealth fighters that travel up to mach 2-3 with complexed engines. With all the recon and surveillance with drones etc they would eventually find out their weakness is sound but the aliens could be in the millions so it's hard to say but many weapons would harm these things just because of brute force that attacks flesh directly unfortunately there will still be many dead humans trying to kill them with their own guns so eh.

I dont think they really had enough time to come up with a solution. People may not have even figured out the creatures have super sensitive hearing, or that that was an exploitable weakness until the moment of their death. They fell all over the place all at once, and just started slaughtering. By the time someone who had the knowledge and resources to build something effective, everyone was probably already dead. There were probably many times the family could've made as much noise as they wanted to and nothing would happen because the nearest creature is 50 miles away and cant hear you. The thing is you don't know where the nearest creature is, it could be 50 miles away or sneaking around 50ft from your house so in the end you have to be cautious and try to mitigate your sounds all the time. Probably a hot take but I despise the logic/survival in this film. The story bits are fine but there are SOOOOO many instances of plot armor and stupidity that it boils my brain. Any instances of the characters being stupid and by every means should die from the setting presented are pretty common. 1) where do they get all their sand to walk through? With wind, rain, and erosion your paths would be gone within days. Without constant maintenance and supply of sand, the paths would literally be gone within a week 2) why wasn't there a parent in front and back at the beginning with the kids in the middle? Basic survival pack mentality. 3) how do they farm? Farming is incredibly noisy between tilling, storage, tools, and everything else involved. 4) WHY DON'T THEY LIVE BY THE WATER FALL? It is considered a safe haven so build some basic structures and set up camp there. Also you can have the baby there. Done. I have more but that's what I can remember from seeing the film years ago. I can forgive some if the story is good, but my lord the amount of inconsistency and survival logic irks me.

I think farming can actually be pretty quiet if you do EVERYTHING by hand (including making holes). I've worked out in fields when younger and have planted some fields by hand (I'm speaking acres 😭😭), it's awful and painful but possible. For us, even tho we planted by hand, machines did the watering...

I think I may kinda explain why they chose to not live at the waterfall, not a good logic, but a logic that'd be realistic for some people, the kids needs to learn that they need to stay quiet, and living at the Waterfall will make them not learn that skill. People rarely combine the idea of hell with the idea that humans are incredibly badass world conquering apex predators. The closest we've gotten to this is DOOM and Dantes inferno. I would agree too, but these guys have been riding asteroids for god knows how long. They are definitely accustomed to extreme climates and conditions. Sure the explosion might burn them but considering the were in the vacuum of space of an uncertain amount of time exposed to insane amount of radiation, a nuke would probably not be too damaging. Furthermore, while the heat of entering the atmosphere of earth isn’t as hot as a nuke, they have been exposed to extreme cold and heat for years. Maybe we’re thinking too hard here and trying to make sense of a fictional story but that’s my “armchair scientist” take.

@@happymikasa7226it's definitely a "suspend your disbelief" thing. Shockwaves from high explosives liquefy the soft tissue inside of animals they pass through if the shockwave is large enough. No amount of armor would really stop it if you turned on some thermal imaging and dropped some bombs on groups of the monsters. The problem is that they dropped all over the country, so the only safe places would be off the coast and stuff. So you'd be needing to retake a really huge landmass with very limited resources while you figured out what to do. Once the vulnerability frequency was discovered, parachuting a couple speakers into a minefield, or parking artillery on the deck of a ship off the coast and pre sighting them, would let you draw a bunch of monsters in and then pulverize their insides. I think it could be fun to have an action horror military movie about retaking the US from the aliens, but idk if it'd do well with mainstream audiences.

When I first watched this film, I was actually never scared, give or take a couple of jumpscares. The reason being, in my eyes, the monster wasn't scary. I wasn't scared by the monsters/aliens, and once I figured out they hunted by sound, which was fairly quickly, I began getting annoyed at the characters, always saying 'why don't they use a high pitched noise.' This wasn't the filmmakers fault, as the nightmares I had of this type of creature had already run its course for me. I grew up watching the British show, Primeval. And anyone who's watched that knows of the Future Predators, animals evolved from ape and bat DNA to become the ultimate predator. Those things were terrifying. They were fast, agile, and any noise you made, they could detect, even your heartbeat, but their weakness as well as a way to detect them was high pitched noises. I had been fearing these creatures for a decade before A Quiet Place was released, and that's why I wasn't scared of the monsters in this film.

After my friends forced me to watch all the movies... A Quiet Place is a fun concept but you think about it for more than a second and everything falls apart. How do the monsters not just run into things? You mean to tell me we could just shoot them? Even just stab them in the head with a pipe?? Oh they have armor? We got tanks. You're telling a Desert Eagle can drop the engine out of a car but can't go through one of the face flaps of the aliens? If they can hear a door close from 5 miles away, just screaming in close proximity should make them go deaf. Why haven't they killed every single animal in the whole world? They can't swim? Guessing they can't fly? So.. Every military on the planet should be fully functioning then? Why wouldn't we just track them with drones and kill them from the air? So basically living in Fallout shelters underground while the military takes care of them would fix this issue?

Now this is an apocalypse that would benefit from a grease bridge trap. Which is basically about luring a target to use a false bridge over a dangerous fall. The hard part tho is you cant build a bridge in this apocalypse, you would have to find existing structures over large bodies of water, then grease them. Which is easier said than done.

A Quiet Place 1 and 2 have got to be a couple of my favorite horror movies, pretty much of all time. There are so many heart felt and pensive moments. Despite the dark and harsh theme, there is such a wholesome quality to these movies. The music is absolutely gorgeous: the soft morose melody with metallic distortions makes my heart melt whenever I hear it. The lead up to one of the character's deaths is so well timed that every time I get to that scene it makes me cry. It might have some logical inconsistencies but the creators definitely hit the nail on the head when it comes to the emotive quality of the films. So much love. 💛

My fiance doesn't enjoy horror at all, he finds it predictable and boring and he always complains about characters making dumb decisions.😂 He took one "for the team" following me along to the cinema to watch this piece. And hallelujah- afterwards, he actually said this movie "wasn't that bad" and he actually had enjoyed himself. From him, thats a huge compliment for a movie in this genre.

For me, A Quiet Place is a type of scenario that does not work in an apocalyptic setting, for multiple reasons. First of all, in real life these monsters would be incredibly easy to defeat, just play a loud Metallica concert and bait them into a stadium filled with explosives. I will never buy them as a serious threat. Second, because the characters have to stay quiet all the time, you can't really make a grand story filled with tons of dialogue and character drama, epic setpieces etc, so why bother with the whole Apocalypse thing? This movie should take place is some remote location, like an island, an underground lab/bunker/cave (where there's way less sound, so it would be way scarier) or in like the XIXth century, so the military would be unable to attack them from the sky. Make it a small story, make it ambigious what happened to the rest of the world. For me, the whole Apocalypse thing is just wasted potential.
@ElectricAlien577
@ElectricAlien577 8 ай бұрын
I think the fact that everything happened so fast is the reason they were a threat. These aliens suddenly fell from the sky, seemingly all over the place, all at once, and immediately began slaughtering everything that made a noise. Setting up a trap and luring them to it assumes you survived the initial slaughter. If they actually fell all over the planet all at once, i could easily see most of the population wiped out in a matter of days. Those who survived the first day or two would still have to be incredibly careful while they are even setting up the trap in the first place. Plus, how do people even know a trap like that would work. From the average persons perspective, its just a bunch of aliens indiscriminately slaughtering people. It would take time, and direct observation of the creatures behavior for longer than the quick glimpse you see while its killing everyone around you.

to comment on the whole swimming thing for the aliens, I don't think it was retconned. Krasinski said the reason they can't swim isn't a matter of not knowing how, but because they evolved on a hellish planet with stronger gravity than Earth, so all of their dense armor and musculature sinks like a rock in water. The alien in the first movie was probably fine because the water in the flooded room wasn't that deep, but the alien in 2 that fell off of the docks and into the ocean was sent into much deeper water that was harder to escape

The way the aliens are defeated in these movies is just so stupid. All it takes is to shoot them when they expose their insides? They do that ALL the time when they growl. You're telling me not one soldier managed to shoot one of this things in the mouth, like, ever? Not even by accident? And what about all the insane military hardware we have? Even if their skin is "indestructible" the kinetic force of a missile or a .50 CAL drilling them would turn their insides into mush. How about military specialists not realizing in about 5 seconds that the aliens are weak to frequencies and just blasting a signal worldwide. There's not even that many aliens to go "well maybe the army got overwhelmed". There's like 4 all across an entire state.
@laffyraffy407
@laffyraffy407 5 ай бұрын
Honestly my biggest nitpick when it comes to the aliens isn't how quickly they decimate humanity, it's how they arrived on Earth in the first place. They literally just... rode in on meteors? I guess I can maybe buy that they can go into a dormant state where they don't need to breathe or eat or anything like that, sure. But you're telling me they're OP enough to survive cosmic radiation? And the trauma of entering our atmosphere? And, yeah, I'm making the assumption that they even *need* to breathe or eat, since we never actually see them do the latter (as far as I remember, anyways), but if they don't eat, why the hell do they have teeth? And even setting aside the "how," *why* are they riding around on meteors? Are the meteors what's left of their home planet? They don't show any signs of sentience, or the kind of intelligence needed to plan an interstellar assault, so it can't be a planned invasion. My theory is that they're living weapons bioengineered by another alien species, but even that rasises a lot of questions because, again, this doesn't seem like a planned invasion. If it were mastermined by some other alien race, the creatures probably would have been deployed by other, more practical means. Plus, the "master" aliens would have probably shown up by now to do whatever it is they were going to do. So, the creatures are acting without guidance, with (seemingly) animal-level intelligence. WHY ARE THEY JUST IN SPACE, RIDING AROUND ON METEORS??? What evolutionary purpose would that serve?! Maybe they were bioengineered and they wiped out their creators? And invading other planets is some pre-programmed directive that compells them? I'm definitely thinking too deeply into this, and I want to make it clear that I LOVE these movies - I've already bought my ticket to see the new one in theaters - but it's one of those details that, if you think about it for more than a few seconds, just doesn't make much sense. Also, if you read this far, thank you for indulging in my ramblings and I hope you have a lovely day. 🤗
@Strideo1
@Strideo1 3 ай бұрын
The only way these creatures and their arrival makes any sense is they were engineered and delivered by an advanced alien race that just wanted to screw humanity over in an interesting way but didn't want to just nuke the Earth or use chemical warfare or something. Like it would have to be some sadistic experiment or something just for their entertainment. Unfortunately the implications behind that would be very very grim for humanity.
