Vankyo V600 Performance 1080p Native Projector

Last year, while looking for a projector to rent for an event, I wound up just buying the Vankyo 510, and a 120 inch screen, as it was the same price as a rental, coming in at around $500 for both items. I was so impressed by it, that I wound up buying another 510 projector to use as my main tv, as my old plasma was croaking, and I was in the market for a tv. The 510 was native 720, and upscaled to 1080p. I can only imagine how much better this version is, as the contrast ratio is 5000 to 1, over 3000 to 1 on the 510. It's slightly brighter too, at 4000 Lumens vs 3800. I'm concerned about the fan noise though, as the 510 is fairly quiet. Great review!

@Dillon Yates yeah, the 510 is the quiet one. I actually bought their updated V600 model recently, and it's quite superior image wise; native 1080p with a far better contrast ratio/brightness. It mirrors my lcd 1080p screen (nice colours), just not as bright naturally. It's louder though. I usually have a fan on, so it's not distracting for me, but you'll def notice it. It's not hard to install a quieter/better fan though, just get a computer shop to do it for you if you don't know how. For the price, and incredible quality, it's worth doing that, should the noise bother you.

@Dillon Yates Do it, you won't be disappointed. I'm typing this comment on it right now, use it all the time. Just a heads up, there's no sleep timer (was on the 510) so don't fall sleep with it on lol. I actually burned the bulb on one of the 510's I have. My computer will usually turn things off after a time, but I feel asleep on my mouse, must have been on 15 hours straight, as I was gaming before passing out. It created a dark-ish spot on the bulb Get yourself a decent screen too, you want to put it on something flat. I bought an elite screen yardmaster (120 inches), and just mounted it on my wall, it came with legs though

@Dillon Yates You're welcome, glad you're liking it! I still can't get over the quality for the price, it's ridiculous. It's amazing for movies, and great for gaming too, no real input lag. If you use supersampling with a pc (how mine is hooked up) you can emulate 4k easily. Did yours come with a sleep timer in the options? I haven't tried updating it, so I'm hoping they patched that in.

One function that is missing is Zooming (increasing) the size of projection without moving the projector.

Can you adjust the tint setting. Why is that setting greyed out even in the USER mode? Because to do a basic calibration you need to be able to adjust brightness, contrast, color, and tint.

I think you left the colors too washed out . I have one and set user contrast down to 15 and color temp to red-80 green-40 blue-100 and it's much richer. I think they kind of blew it out to score the lumens, but with it toned down a little I can still easily watch it with open shades in all but full sun.

@@jbell2018 I don't use it anymore, it crapped out on me, getting dimmer and blurrier within 5-6 weeks and got black smudges all over the place., I returned it and they sent me a new one... TWO TIMES! I finally opened it to clean it, but it was impossible, it crudded up even faster. I could have kept returning it if I hqadn't gotten tired of shipping it back, but it was just a piece of crap, it's out in the garage in case the one I'm using now fails me, for a temp until I get a decent one, but this one's been a champ, I've had it for 4 months, it's an Optimo, made by Texas Instruments.

I can not manipulate the desktop on my laptop when it is connected to the Vakyo V600.m I am using a Thunderbolt to VGA cable for my Macbook Pro. Does anyone have any advice to troubleshoot this issue? Thanks kindly!

I can never get both edges completely crisp, it's one or the other, despite having the projector level with my mounted screen, but it's not that bad, and not really noticeable in movies/tv shows/games.

What's the distance that you are using the projector and what's the size of the projection?

I had it at 10 feet away and it produced 100" of screen, it can go up to 300" but I dont have the space for that.

It is impossible that this projector is 4000 lux, i mean if you turn the light on, picture disappears. If it was 4000 you could watch it with the lights on....I returned this projector and got the Optima short throw projector with 3000 lux and i can watch that one with the light on. Just saying

You're thinking of lumens. This projector measures the brightness in lux for some reason. You're right though, it is pretty dim

It works great for outside but not so well under bright conditions, unless you also buy a good screen.
