I played League of Legends since closed alpha so I was pretty good at it (being modest here) and the tactics and builds the pros used always was behind as pros tend to follow other pros. There aren't actually all that many pros out there that create the tactics that everyone else uses. And I played this game since launch and now I'm not pro level in terms of aim and playskill but my game knowledge is definitely up there. At launch my main was Pathfinder who ALL pros at launch rated D-tier due to his bugged hitbox (it was substantially larger than the visuals of his model, this was fixed later on but at launch this was a big issue). All pros went for Wraith due to her ability set and her hitbox. My mates even tried to talk me out of playing Pathfinder due to the opinions of the pros of him being shit... But guess what - my win rate was extremely high and I achieved diamond as well in the first ranked season something only 2% of the entire global player base was able to achieve. And I did this solo queue... solo queue in Apex is brutal even pros say this but how did I achieve it then, well by using what everyone called a D-tier legend. Why? I figured out within the first week of launch that verticality is the key to success on Apex Legends at least back then on the initial Kings Canyon. I also figured out the ability to quickly change positions and simply get around the map faster was also crucial (which is why Octane is so popular today). But back then there was no Octane and instead Pathfinder was the only way to do this. There were also many positions that were only reachable if you had a Pathfinder on your team, and if you got those positions in the final circle before another team did you were GUARANTEED to win But sure he was D-tier because of his bugged hitbox... obviously he is crap at close range fighting but if you fight mid range and play to win he was the key to this. Today his usefulness is much less as verticality matters less now and you have so many legends now that have movement abilities for themselves and/or for their teammates. Long story short - most pros don't know shit about what they talk about there are very few pros out there that actually know what they are talking about. Most pros rely on their raw skill to win games even if their creative game knowledge is next to 0 (their ability to make their own tactics within that game).
