What do we want from a dash camera? Good footage, seamless operation, easy to use functions, possibly - parking monitoring - this is all well covered by the Vantrue N1 Pro.
Although even referred as one of the many Chinese products, it is remarkable to see the quality of the packaging, the arrangement of the things inside, even the user guide and the rest of the papers. It is world class presentation, even for a model which is not the top of their portfolio.
In a matter of fact, the priced at 55$, the N1 Pro is at the moment the cheapest and most basic Vantrue device. It packs decent hardware, and in fact some features that I was eagerly waiting to test, because they are known from a few other very mainstream models.
The hardware inside this tiny box - there’s the Sony IMX 323- a 2.20MP sensor, known for delivering excellent quality - and used by two other very popular models - the Xiaomi-backed 70 mai, and the Blueskysea B1w. Both of them have no display or button navigation however.
The processor inside is very capable and much better than the mentioned - Novatek 96658, 160 degree field of view with 6-layer glass lens, and 130 MAH battery. Yes, there is a lithium-ion battery, and in the past years there have been a lot of precautions taken so that these batteries are safe and almost impossible to explode or fail. Vantrue promise the battery will work fine between -20 and +70 degrees Celcius - and that is remarkable. Means that it is fine using this dashcam in the hottest areas on the planet.
Vantrue have also thought about the availability of your car’s battery - the parking monitor lasts for no more than 24 hours, and if you leave your vehicle unattended for a prolonged period of time, this will prevent a discharge of the car’s battery. A feature we naturally expect to see with most dashcams, but somehow gets implemented on too few models.
The strongest point of this dashcam is the size of the supported micro SD card. I need to take a breath here - 256GB! Almost a week of non-stop footage! On the funny side - at the time making this video the cheapest 256GB cards cost more than half of the price of the N1 Pro.
As for the video quality - I’ve intentionally postponed this conversation for the end. Sharp, a little oversaturated, and adding a lot of detail - I think it is very good for a 1080p camera and will certainly do the job right in any kind of conditions.
The capabilities at night are also something to highlight - I keep on repeating that for good low light footage you should go with less megapixels. And the aperture of f/1.8 helps a lot to add more light to your footage.

Questions. Can I attach a rear camera? And is the display bright when driving in the dark?

Adding a rear module is not supported as far as I remember. And yeah - if it is totally dark, you will notice the display. But it can be disabled too.

You could, but you will have to manually do this every single time you decide to drive...

One thing disappointing considering the price is that it doesn't have wifi phone connectivity so the footage can be easily downloaded with a phone. I bought a yi dashcam in 2019 for I think $30 that had wifi. I wish they could add this in an updated model or at least provide a USB adapter cable for our phone! Like an OTG adapter, which will definitely work with Android phone. Not sure if iPhone supports OTG.

Most cheap dash cams with Wifi have pretty horrible apps. Plus - there's nothing faster than physical connection.

Use the auto settings - it will be fine. As for date and time - it is in the settings menu, and well configurable.

Thanks Joseph! The GPS module was not present while I was testing the dashcam, so the entire video has no GPS input.

Hi Tech4All, I had an issue when I removed the micro SD card from the Vantrue N1 Pro and used an adaptor to play the video. Somehow it runs fast speed I could not change to play regular speed. Do you know What's wrong with it? Thanks.

what kind of memory size does this come with built in? how many hours of footage are we talking about and do you know if there is an erase function on the actual camera to erase the footage for the day or does it need to be plugged into a laptop to erase it?? Thanks.

You have to buy a microSD card yourself. As for amount of footage - depends on the resolution. 1080p footage for a minute will consume less than 100mb. Meaning that with a 32GB card you can store several hours worth of recordings. The camera automatically maintains the space - as soon as it is full, it will delete the oldest videos.

This dashcam seems nice enough but The error messages don't give audible feedback which is a very bad oversight. I hope this will be fixed in a firmware update. If you guys agree email the manufacturers support email with the suggestion. I already did just yesterday.

@@TechMishka I mean simple errors like the SD card missing, etc. Say the SD card popped out slightly and the dashcam stopped recording, well the driver would never know unless they visually looked at the dashcam.

You can mark the video as an Emergency video - cannot recall which of the buttons does that.

Yes, it has small battery which will maintain the recording for extra time in case of a power loss, and if the configuration is right - it will place the file in the "emergency" folder on the microSD card.

Now I get it, this is the moment you got rear ended by other....Now a days front as well REAR unit is must. In my country after this kind of incidents you need to fight after getting out of your own car because opposite side will blame you that it is your fault when others are moving and you are not....so he gently remind you to move, upon questioning why so hurry ? The answer is - somebody who are very dear and near to him are on their last breath and will be dead very soon (every time) that's why he is in rush.

Yeah, traffic becomes crazy everywhere. I believe there are not as many vehicles here (yet), but accidents do happen. It was traffic jam, and the person behind me said he got distracted with his phone. I didn't realize how close I was to the front car until I saw the footage and it was a lucky coincidence my foot was on the brakes at that moment. Luckily - no real injures, I only had neck-aches for the next day and all set now. The car is fine too, will need a replacement of the rear door.

1st 3:25 to 3:28 car plates 0 vision 2 if camera records 1080 FHD why video is 4K video 3 nigth vision is worst 4 day video normal but on speed side is 0 why you recommend this cam idk

Hi nicol_oza , let me help here: 1. under certain angles plates may be unreadable, indeed. This could happen to every kind of dash camera 2. Because the unboxing and closeup parts of the video are shot in 4K and reveal more details about the product 3. Night vision is just fine. Not as good as on some other dashcams, but certainly not the worst in the world 4. not sure what "speed size is 0" means Overall the cam offers good value for the money.

The new recordings should be chunks of 1 minute by default. If that is the case - then it is normal behavior. YOu can control the length of the files from the menus.
