So it’s been almost a year since I purchased my vapeor honing technologies 3630 Vapor blaster... I’ve been super happy with the results but it hasn’t been an inexpensive venture. If you would like to have something vapor blasting please email me at Masongeorgemotorcycles@gmail.com

To all those people who dream of throwing a nasty part into a vapor blaster and get a wonderful new part out ..... get back into reallity. I am vapor blasting for a year now and my conclusion for optimum results is. 1) clean and degrease parts first because your cabinet will look like sh...t after blasting one grease part. 2) I dry blast all parts after degreasing with fine crushed glass or aluminium oxyde for a rust and other corrosion removal and an even finish. 3) now I vapor blast the parts with beads and now you get a great even and shiny surface. Using different metals the outcome varies widely, like cast iron needs step 2 to get any useable results. With aluminium sometimes you can skip step 2 but some testing before is always good idea. If they tell you anything else it is a sales pitch from Vapor Honing. Trust me they degrease and prep the parts too before they demonstrate their wonder machines. If you follow steps 1-3 you will get great results. I never want to be without my different blasters but I still use dry blasting 80% and wet blasting only 20% of the time. Greetings Bernhard

I totally agree! Luckily for use being a motorcycle shop I only blast aluminum and we full clean everything first but I am working on setting up a dry blasting unit for engine cases and hubs. Definitely looking forward to upgrading my gun.

I have a big vapor blaster cabinet but bought only a smaller (harbour freight type) cabinet and did some of the upgrades I found at different KZbin channels. The Tacoma guns (which all my boxes currently have) are an improvement in working speed but no change in the quality of the surface. As Jeffrey Pitchford in one of your comments writes the Arnold gun appears good but it is very expensive too. I saw the biggest change in working speed going from Wet blasting only to the dry/wet blast combo. Ok, first a short caveat: I love very fine aluminium oxide, I say again very fine. It is the most aggressive (and 3x the price of fine crushed glass) stuff but as „very fine“ and starting at a lower pressure any corrosion is gone in seconds, yes really in seconds, even the white or black stuff that you get as „aluminium corrosion“. BUT the nozzle is also slowly disappearing with it. Alternatively crushed glass is producing the same results (just a little bit slower) at a much lower media cost, a bit less aggressive but still very good and not destroying the blast nozzle. Any dry blasting „scratches“ the surface a bit but with very fine media and lower pressure it is no problem for the wet blaster to smooth the surface and shines it up very fast (with any gun). What I don’t do any more is mix media. You trade speed for surface quality or vice versa. It will take a lot of experimenting with the mix but will never produce perfect results while the 2 step dry/wet is simple, fast and predictable results every time. In the Arnold videos he uses wet/wet 2step with one crushed glass and the other loaded with beads but dry blasting with crushed media is much faster and not nearly as complicated as wet blasting. One last thing, put the dry cabinet into another room since even the best sealed cabinet will leave some dust behind. Also I did put a dust separator ahead of the vacuum because the vacuum get clogged up very fast and those (even the cheap chinese copies) remove most particles ahead of the filter. In case you have questions or want photos of my solution contact me at bernhardlist@hotmail.com For best restoration results in 2021, greetings Bernhard

The manufacturer actually recommends a 60 gallon over an 80 gallon tank and obviously the more CFM the better.

I think it does a good job! We’ve been running it for almost 2 years now and I haven’t had any issues, we also use it for general air in the shop.

Vapor blasting is all about CFM and PSI. You can crank them to the moon to 60-100 CFM and clean parts in absolutely no time at all. You will be spending atleast $10,000 on compressors that are able to be ran constantly without premature wear or overheating to achieve those kinds of CFM.

Hahahaa what motivation do I have for lying? Also what gun are you running? Everything I’ve heard is the gun makes all the difference in the world and with the stock Vapor Honing Technologies gun everything takes a long time.
