I know it's just a pilot, but I'm really hoping if it ever becomes a real TV series that we see more of the original comic in it. 😭 I was bummed to see the lack of execution of Freckle's slow and very reluctant descent into his hyena cackling. It was a point I think they did need to keep in the pilot to emphasize the contrast between Freckle's unhinged undertones and his innocent nature. I also hope he ends up more baby-faced in the possible series, because he's missing a bit of that naivety and wide-eyed perspective that he had.

Fun fact: the reason the whiskey they got was so terrible was because it was from Canada. During prohibition, smuggling alcohol across the Canadian border was the simplest way to get alcohol and made the smugglers rich. However, it reportedly tasted horrible to drink, however it was the easiest to get besides risking it with moonshiners. They reference this when Rocky mentioned “Canadian Whiskey“ and near the end when they all drink it and hate it.

@@sirboomsalot4902 You won’t be disappointed! I followed it a few years back, and while I don’t remember all of the plot, I was really impressed with how well researched everything was. The main creator not only put a lot of effort into researching key conflicts at the time, but the little details most people would rather generalize for aesthetic or never even think about- like clothing (down to the details, like general silhouettes, ribbon placements, etc) gun models, locations, common languages, etc. Not to mention, the art in the comics (ESPECIALLY as the series progressed) is damn amazing. The language is somewhat period accurate, which can make it tough to understand at times (at least for me), but I’d definitely recommend it.

I looked into it, historically (and in the modern day) Canadian Whiskey (as in actual Whiskey) is infamous for it's low taste, being much more akin to Vodka with a bit of flavoring then American Whiskey (ironically because a lot of the typical Moonshine manufacturing methods/tricks like distilling some high quality flavoring in large batches of low quality product are not only legal but straight up the norm) Canadian Whiskey's main point has always been how cheap it is. However, other Canadian Alcaholic drinks (especially Rye at this time) were much higher standard and better quality.

Fun fact - the reason why the cat (Serafine) with the B. A. R. (machine gun) wasn’t using the sights was because back then, bootleggers would saw off the end of the barrel to easily carry it and to hide it in their cars if needed, meaning that they would have no front sight and would need to hip fire the gun, or to just point it in the general direction of who or what they were firing at

Lackadaisy is a word that technically doesn't exist anymore, in fact being considered an archaic interjection (something you say in surprise or sorrow, like people nowadays saying, "Oh No!" or "Damn!"). An older variant is the more medieval sounding "Lackaday" which, much like Lackadaisy, was used as a term to express Sorrow or Regret. The only trace of it left is in the modern adjective "Lackadaisical," which means "Lacking Enthusiasm or Determination; Careless; Lazy; Indifferent." Which is a term often used to describe slackers, goldbrickers, layabouts, bums, bored teenagers and young adults, or generally anybody who can't be bothered to care, who treat everything either like some kind of game or an annoying chore they don't wanna do, so they either procrastinate and do other things while waiting for the problem to go away, or they try to trick others into doing their work for them. Hope this helps.

So, IIRC, those old cars are actually working exactly the same as the modern ones A working engine can sustain itself if provided with fuel and (in case of gasoline engines) electricity to it's spark plugs. But before that you need to somehow jumpstart it. In modern cars it is done by a starter. A small electric motor which is turned on whenever you turn your car's keys (also while a car is in motion a starter would work as an electric generator, charging car's battery, almost like a hybrid car). But before 1912 it was done mostly manually via a hand crank. A simple concept on paper, but it not only requires some physical strength, but also an engine can experience a kickback, which could injure a person jumpstarting a car. So, yeah

I believe that the clubs symbol aludes to the fact that is a clandestine club, and the darker side of a flower, in this case alluding to the "Little Daisy Cafe". The clubs symbol means agriculture, one of the four primary pillars of the Medieval Period economy, also known as trefoils it can mean a lot of other stuff like good luck, work, prosperity, darkness. But probably a good connection is how the clubs is called in Italian "Fiori" which means "flower" It is interesting, because if we stay with the meaning of prosperity it goes in high contrast with the Lackadaisy's current situation.

fact: back in the 1920's yes there were cars that needed to be cranked with a handcrank, but from what i remember the electric start cars were just getting popular and they were on the more expensive version of the ford model A which is what the vehicles in this pilot seem to be. All powered by fords famous flathead/L head 4 cylinder engine at around 4HP (horsepower) which is like 2 lawnmower engines combined or 3 depending on the lawnmower. The electric starter switch would be on the floor though not beside the steering wheel. Hope this helps with the questions u have about the vehicles.

(Sorry, I’m using my phone, so I can’t edit comments) it’s called Lackadaisy because that is the name of the speakeasy they work for. A speakeasy was an underground (sometimes literally underground) club where people would go to get booze during Prohibition.

So your comment about a mix of 1920's/30's music with modern elements, thats a whole flurrishing genre called eletroswing. Check it out!

I just realized, how hard would it be to put on pants as a cat? I mean, you would have to fit your tail through a hole in the back and everything!
@rekkariley652 Жыл бұрын
I figured they’d just have an extra button or something, so it’s less trying to fit the tail through and more just making the cloth fit around it.

They are speakeasies, they were around during the prohibition era

FYI it's a speakeasy not a club, and those establishments were very common back in the prohibition they were the perfect places to go to get illicit booze and have a good time.

So, there's this really interesting show called Murder Drones, which is about space-robot-vampires that feed on other space robots. Pretty funny and nice story so far.

12:38 Flippy from Happy Tree Friends got full on Split Personality. Calvin (Freckle is just his nickname) has an unhinged passion for guns, and is pathologically ashamed of it, which is why he keeps maintaining his shy demeanor. He knows he is a loose canon and doesn't want to be.

14:13 your right but for whatever reason that rifle don’t actually have an iron sight which is kinda weird. By doing a bit of research on automatic rifles from the late 1910s to early 1920s the I found the M1918 Browning automatic machine gun which I believe to be the closest to the firearm used in the animation. Although the barrel appears to be shorter.

I’m not an expert. I just like firearms and like to do research on them once in a while. And just for clarification, no I’m not American.
