Well explained. It’s so hard sometimes too because sometimes even if I’m not entertaining that intrusive thought and making it bigger consciously, it still is there which is like torture b/c it is so anxiety/exhausting provoking

I talked to parents about it. The only problem is other people judged me for these thoughts. Now they hate me for it. And they want me to be imprisoned for it. I need help but couldn't get it because they're trying to destroy my life. I hope someday I'd be able to get the proper help that I need. God bless you. ❤️

@Arpita2049 no they won't. cbt and ERP are the best things to fight this. A better option would be to talk to a psychiatrist, someone who is a medical professional. Trust me that would be better. Trust me i have this too but never turn to anything for help other than a medical advise.

@Arpita2049 i am glad that you are doing better really am. But how did you convince your parents to let you see a psychiatrist? If I am not mistaken, you are from India too right? I am still trying to convince them lol.

@Arpita2049 hehe sure i guess we could be friends, especially when we are riding the same exhaustive boat of OCD haha. I am glad that you got the help you needed. My parents just disregarded my thoughts and feelings, but i dont blame them as they dont understand the concept of mental health as well as they do other things. I teach tuitions to a kids and doing an internship from college so maybe i could get enough money to help myself. I hope you get better soon!

@Arpita2049 actually o dont really like social media i only keep in contact with my friends through whatsapp. And for professional use I conatct via gmail. Haha yeah earning one will help me but I guess you are really lucky that your parents understand what is happening to you and trying to help you. That's a boon. Btw how did you got to know about this harm ocd? What was your trigger?
@pnjodaro

@Arpita2049 i am glad that your parents support you, really. My OCD first incident started 2 months ago, when I had a panic attack, after watching a crime documentary on yt. Since then, the thoughts have been troubling me. At first I did all the compulsions a lot (still do, but not to that extent) like pushing the thought away, staying away from the trigger, kept yt out of sight. The thoughts distressed me so much that i stayed in my bed for 4 days, just occasionally getting up to eat and going to washroom. I took comfort in sleep, as that was the only time when the thoughts didnt trouble me. But I used to be a psychology student (along with biology) in my school days (i am now in second year of college) and thats what really saved me i must tell you. Prior knowledge of psychology really saved me, as I then started researching my symptoms and through research i got to know about harm ocd. In the meantime, my ocd had also taken a form of self harm ocd, which gave me more anxiety as i had no intension to harm myself ever. This theme was pretty weird and common, like jumping off the balcony, when in reality i have acrophobia, the fear of heights lol. When i was sure that this is what i have, i was a little relieved, but that didnt stop my compulsions and the pain i was in. And still am lol. I talled to my aunt (she is doc, along with a plethora of doctors in my family lol) and i told her. She asked me to bring positive changes in my life, and if that didnt work, asked me book an online consultation with a psychiatrist (not a psychologist, as a psychologist is a social worker, and a psychiatrist us a medical professional). After talking to her i felt really good, as I got a medical advise from her. Hopefully I will get a consultation soon. 🤞 Btw when did you first know, that this is what you have? Like ocd? Edit: grammar

By accepting the thoughts, you're fighting ocd. Because ocd wants you to panic and stop having the thoughts. Accepting is fighting the illness in this case.

Informative video. To reduce overthinking be careful what you feed your mind. Avoid comparing yourself with others, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your incoming-outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 10-15 minutes or more. You can sit or lay down on the bed--eyes closed--No deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. Never meditate with expectations but with self-awareness. Make it a lifetime habit to observe your breath sensations day and night anywhere -anytime- before sleep, at work, when travelling etc with eyes open or closed. Best wishes--Counsellor.

I’m currently going through a tough time because I have a bad habit where I keep thinking about blinking and it’s making me feel stressed and really worried. I just feel like every single day it’s getting worse and worse because I just can’t focus in school like I used to and i have a tough time concentrating on what I’m doing. Its also affecting my life a lot so I’m most of the time sad because of the situation I’m in right now.
@abrahamlincoln6744
@abrahamlincoln6744 3 жыл бұрын
That's ocd behavior. When you notice the blinking, acknowledge it, accept it, then draw your focus back to what your are doing in the present moment. You will have to do this many, many times, but that's okay. Over time you will heal with practice. Acknowledge, accept, and then shift focus to the whatever activity you are engaging in.

@@abrahamlincoln6744 For me it’s every single day that I struggle with it and i have days we’re im less anxious and I’m fine and then I have days where I’m just terrible and it just won’t go away. I can’t stop thinking of it because I know it’s normal to do it but I just notice it to much.

@@bryangonzalez4604 Its okay, notice it, accept that it's there, then move your focus to what you are doing in the present moment...go about your day. You will have to do this many many times each day probably...thats fine. Acceptance is the key to healing. Resisting/overthinking just causes more anxiety.

@@abrahamlincoln6744 Ok I’ll do that. I’ll try to accept that it’s there. Usually what I do is meditation to calm myself when I feel anxious about that.
@abrahamlincoln6744
@abrahamlincoln6744 3 жыл бұрын
@@bryangonzalez4604 Meditation in general is a good thing, but not to do to make anxiety stop..that's a coping mechanism, aka resistance, and it tells the brain there is something to be worried about. Be okay with anxiety being there. Be okay with negative thoughts being there, but don't engage them. Don't argue with them, dont resist them...accept they are there, then move on with your day and focus on whatever task you are engaging in in the present moment. Eventually that will teach your brain that there is nothing to fear and you will heal.

I had a different but a similar sort of this problem! You are completely normal.. it was never your thought, it just passed by your mind and when you met with it you realised you’re scared of it, coz its not something you want at all and you’re clear with that! Thats when the monster was born, it saw how that thought gave you anxiety and the thought latched on to you… just remember it was something that randomly came through, it was never your thought. Its just that fear that has become the issue.. pls dont be worried you are always going to be a male. DONT question your thought thats all im going to say, the more your argue with it the bigger it becomes!
