3:50 Joey talks about diabetes, and I am reminded of the SNES game _Captain Novolin,_ which was allegedly made to teach kids about diabetes. It is known for being very bad, and also hilarious, though I think it may actually spread some misinformation about diabetes, since it focuses a lot of attention on feet. I have the feeling that Joel would get a kick out of it, but for anyone wanting to play the game, be aware you have to hold down on the d-pad when jumping on enemies in order to hurt them.

That's so wild that all those late night microbudget fantasy/scifi shows aired abroad in the early morning, in the US they were exclusively relegated to being shown at like no time earlier than 10pm, usually at like 1 or 2 in the morning, because the networks dumped them into the worst possible time slots where they knew no one would watch them because they were like embarrassed or something. During the late 90's and early 00's that was a whole distinct genre, and every B-tier basic cable station had at least one. Hercules, Xena, MK Conquest, Beastmaster, that Tarzan show, hell, the Sci-Fi channel for a while was just ALL that specific genre of tv show, I mean, Lexx DID exist, y'all, it was a real show, you didn't just hallucinate it I promise. Honestly I'm shocked any of those shows ever had an audience at all. Like even the Mortal Kombat show with its existing brand came on WAY too late for any of the primary audience - mostly kids - to catch it. I mean I was a huge MK fan back then and I only ever saw maybe 4 episodes at the absolute most, like I can't be staying up that late on a school night. How the hell Hercules and Xena managed to get any recognition I'll never understand. I mean they were legitimately huge, too, like they had toys. I had a toy hydra from the show but I legit never saw the episode it was in because, again, I saw maybe 2 episodes max because I couldn't stay up that fucking late on a school night!

Xena and Hercules were quite popular in Brazil because they aired in a time slot where basically there was nothing else interesting for young people on TV. So you'd either watch it, or watch the news or some cooking show for old ladies, etc. Cable was something for rich people, and the internet was still not popular over here (I remember still using dial-up in fucking 2009), so if you had to stay home and had nothing else to do, Xena was there to help you pass the time. I recall liking Xena quite a lot back in the day, but wasn't too found of Hercules. It's been more than 15 years since I last watched it, tho.
