The durability of the variable speed pumps is suspect due to the electronics not the motor.

Can you please provide the specs on the motors. Single speed doesn't give enough info. Is it 1 phase or 3 phase. voltage? RPM? HP or Kw rating. I believe 3 phase single speed is more efficient than variable speed single phase. I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

do you need to change timer on variable speed pumps ? any thoughts on XtremepowerUS brand ?

The newer variable speed pumps come with controllers on them that you can set the time and rpms/speeds for the different times on the pump it self. Also if you have automation some of these systems will communicate with your pool automation system.

Variable speed is a very costly scam, so good that the govt has had to force them on us. Resist as long as you can, keep your single speed as long as possible
