Back in '77, the was a naming reason I well respected this new character. At the time, DC's marvelous competitor had brought a number of African-American characters with black costume to justify the emphasis of "black" in their codename. Pierce selected his codename from a quoted segment of poetry about how "...justice, like black lightning strikes." Respect! Due to work/life schedule and being stuck in the 70s [HaHa], I've only the first couple CW Black Lightning eps...but I *liked* what I saw. I appreciated the take that he had tried to retire and walk away...until Real Life said, "Bro, you can't walk." [Thumbs up on that!]

Static is a Milestone character, who are affiliated with DC Comics and they have a strange relationship, especially since they are currently in talks with each other on using the characters from Milestone in the DC universe. Otherwise, we would see Static Shock being made for the small screen or even part of the DCEU, possibly being a member of the Justice League.

I didn't know about Black Lightning until some years ago. I didn't by DC comics but knew the popular characters. I grew up watching the Super Friends and for a long long time, I thought Black Vulcan was a Real DC character until I did further research and found out that Hanna Barbara I believe couldn't get licencing for Black Lightning and hence Hanna Barbara created Black Vulcan. I think you should do a short video about that. Very interesting.

Actually that series eas supposed to be Black Lightning but the creator, who had all rights to the character, was stubborn and refused for some reason. That's why he's barely showed up in media. Sadly the creator died recently but this means that DC can use him however they like now which is great BL is the only DC show I'm excited for.

One of the problems with American comic books is although characters with great potential are created all the time they'll never get a chance to shine because they'll always be looked over for the usual established heroes in the Justice League and the Avengers.
