Shia is so deeply honest and direct which seemingly scares her when he goes straight for the brutaly honest questions that requires you to be 100% grounded in your own skin. He does an amazing job answering her deflections, whilst not letting her off the hook on the hard questions that can be difficult to face with great follow up questions to really have her dig deep.

I think she did a great job even understanding what he was asking most of the time. When she said, "Do YOU think that?" it does get to the point of, he's actually making a ton of statements about his views while framing it as a question. He didn't really answer questions too deeply, he framed most things as questions. I do this a lot too and there are some unfortunate implications about that.

youtoober2013 You should watch her Hot ones interview (the hot wings show) she just did. I think you will get a better understanding of why she acts the way she does. It start the same as this one you know she is kinda on the defensive. But you see her open up as she can tell from Sean’s questions he is asking genuine questions and I actually curious about who she is as a person. I mean remember how much shit she got when those twilight movies first came out. And even after they were done she constantly asked about her relationship (which was super messy if I remember right) and about the twilight movies. If you ever seen her talk about those movie you can tell she doesn’t give a fuck about them. So I think she just grew to hate interviews and is alway instantly defensive at the beginning of them. Like she thinks your going to take jabs at her so she throws them first. TLDR: Watch her hot one interview. I think it will change your outlook on her and help you understand why she kinda defensive in interviews. It did for me at least.

@@FrancoKTA I was disappointed in this interview _because_ I watched the Hot Ones interview when it came out. This one obviously happened first. That's why she mentioned Shia off-hand. Thing is Sean is amazing at what he does, but he knows well that his job is to make his guests as comfortable as possible, so they can open up to his personal questions under the heat stress. The whole premise of the show is genius. Taking interviewers out of a show is also smart. That's why I usually enjoy actor on actor interviews... and especially comedians. It's not about the people it's about the art. She acted like this was an interview about her... it wasn't supposed to be, the whole purpose of these interviews is to be more vulnerable and open with the chemistry between the like minded. Shia was really diving in -and immediately like she noted, to the point of the interview. It may seem like she doesn't want to reveal some side to herself or something, but in reality it's because she doesn't even know that side of her herself. That's why she does movies that no one hears about and then a movie like Charlie's Angels... let alone start in a movie like Twilight. The drama involved with that position should have been obvious. She's clearly always felt uncomfortable in regular interviews, which is the reason why she shouldn't have felt weird in this one, but she made it weird. This is coming from an "agent told me to do it" perspective and I think that if she was confident in the reasons she wanted to act like many certain strong females that she has in underrated films, then she would be able to talk about it. _Especially_ with another actor _ESPECIALLY_ with a guy like Shia... -no, there is no guy like Shia... she wasted a great opportunity to figure out why she uses art as a conduit for love. The way she talked about her family... sad. Reminds me of that kid from Pewdiepie's latest Dr. Phil episode that doesn't talk to his mom because she doesn't do anything to make him "relevant". It's a sorry case of being lost in life, only in Kristen's case here, she actually has talent and a seemingly really cool personality, but it's all the chips you hold on your shoulder that ultimately weigh anyone and their craft down. Shia on the other hand is constantly shedding even every skin. Charlie's Angels? Seriously?!

The thing with Kristen is that she tries to awkwardly joke around a bit, I think in part because she's so anxious, and sometimes she mocks him in a playful way to lighten up the mood but he doesn't let her have it, he is so proud of his responses and interested in deep diving into the other person's feelings, he emanates that "I understand that you're trying to be funny because you're looking for relief from this serious thing we're talking about, and I know you're doing things like these because you think what you're saying may be silly, but I want you to know that I take you seriously" vibe. He has such a powerful energy and it's a joy to hear him speak, he has definitely a darker side to his words, but it's just a part of him speaking the truth.

It's actually really sad that a lot of women don't get a diagnosis and struggle when they could, instead, get the proper help and support. Autism is an invisible disability, which unfortunately goes hand in hand with a high rate of suicide. The growing awareness of it is a good thing, both in terms providing more adequate help to those affected, but also in terms of showing the proper understanding and care to someone who doesn't function like most people do. (4) Kristen doesn't provide enough info to know for sure if she has high-functioning autism, but it's a possibility.

Shia has a gift for listening, with his Aquarius Ascendant, Mercury/Venus in Cancer, Jupiter in Pisces, this is an individual with incredible patience with people, and true desire to want to understand them. I doubt he understood everything she says but he's probably not a very judgmental person, he's trying his best that's for sure. Meds might be a temporary solution in cases where someone is already too deep into their own beliefs their feelings of anxiety (or depression) are so special that it can not be overcome like the rest of the population do/did, who also experienced depression, anxiety etc. And some to a more extreme level than yours, that is one certainty you always have: someone else had it worse and also managed their way our. The long term solution is to work on your self image and decide you want to be better. And that is very, very, very much easier said then done, but it is the only way out. Cognitive (behavioral) therapy can help with this, but in the end it is the decision you make yourself. Keeping yourself numb on medication, so you will not have to deal with your demons is not the answer. And almost every doctor outside the US will tell you so and only prescribe medication as part of the treatment and not as the solution to the problem. Good luck on your journey of becoming a self reliant human being.

No, I literally can't. - If you have other mental conditions in addition to 'anxiety' you might need meds, I was talking specifically about anxiety, because that was what your first comment was about as well. Noone needs meds for 'anxiety', that is an American invention that has spread to some other countries. You don't get meds for this where I am from. And not because of a lack of resources or something. There has been a pretty extensive discussion about the use medication for anxiety and the research does not indicate this is a good long term solution. Maybe in some very extreme cases the SSRI's for short term use (few months up to approx. a year) to make the therapy a bit easier to effectively start, but definitely not longer than a year and definitely no Benzodiazepines or TCA's. And it is not needed, it makes it easier (or less difficult I should say). Anxiety is best dealt with behavioral therapy, hence the 'decide you want to be better'. Which is obviously a simplification, as behavioral therapy approaches the issue in a more elaborate way. You so easily say ' I hope she can get the right meds for this' , but when someone says that I also read ' I hope she can get the right life-ruining addiction for this' and that is why I argue against this 'meds are the answer' view. It is the lazy way and it does not solve the problem. I am sorry if you feel insulted in any way, I do not mean any of this to be. I am also very sorry if you are brainwashed into believing you are going to be dependent on meds for the rest of your life. That is a crime. Good luck.

Um, I disagree like Kirsten stated so many times during this interview, this is not the appropriate setting to be vulnerable! 1- they barely know each other 2- this is taped on camera for millions to watch Kirsten is aware of her feelings and who she is, and she's smart enough not to share them with whoever, that's called boundaries! @@miamay7688 Not true at all. Shia is completely capable of reading himself. He genuinely cares about what Kristen has to say and he wants to learn her as a person. Who she TRULY is. He is a very intelligent individual and he cares for people in a very deep way. Thats why his questions are so thought provoking, and in this video, you can see him focusing on her and really trying to learn and understand her. Which he showed multiple times. One of the issues here is that Kristen is extremely anxious and just keeps talking and talking. There really isn't many times where she stops and really tries to know Shia. She obviously asks, "What about you?" But her questions are nearly as deep or come across quite as sincere as Shia's do. One example of Shia not having an issue talking about himself is when he expresses that he requires acting as a conduit to love. And he finds it difficult to enjoy things outside of acting. That was an extremely in depth and honest answer that he gave. Not something many people would share through such a public setting like this. All in all, I just personally disagree with your comment. He understands boundaries, he is just more capable about being fully open with himself than she is.

There’s a moment where he’s asked a question and answers shortly and moves on to his previous question to her to which she replies “this guy”, when he notices what he’s doing, gives a more thorough answer. I feel like he was just very interested in learning about her and maybe trying not to take over the whole thing too much? I mean, from what I’ve seen from him, he loves to talk and be listened, so maybe he was trying to be polite and humble. I never see this as conversations rather like a two-way interview with a specific and personal goal in mind. You don’t get to learn a lot about the movies or even the person, just their relation to their craft.

I’m so obsessed with this. I come back to it all the time because I feel the way Kristen speaks is how I speak - there’s so much I want to say and sometimes it comes out too fast and not as clearly put as it feels in my head. And Shia is such a force of intellectual prowess while also being warm and inviting and he just makes me want to think more about everything at all times. Shia is so underrated and beautiful and Kristen is rarely this outspoken so this interview is so special.

Its more problem that you are not able to find the right words and you keep talking instead of working on the thought you want to express. Just take your time. Its better to be silent and speak slow than what she was doing there. I feel genuine warmth from Shia in this interview. He is able to be still, solid-- like a patient anchor for Kristen. She rewards that with truth-- raw, explosive thought and realizations. From watching this video, I feel that it would be a worthwhile experience to simply sit in/on comfortable furniture in Shia's company. I suspect he could hold eye contact, smile, with no speech needed and the environment feel comforting. I suspect Kristen able to share/instill so much enthusiasm/passion that she feels a responsibility to contain herself, for the safety of others. :D
