Bill Search $2 Banknotes for Fancy Serial Numbers

My dad got several original $2.00 bills when they cleaned out my grandparents house. My grandma hid them in some of her coat pockets and old hat boxes that were in their attic. I live in the homestead now, and I frequently look in areas in buildings and basement for more stashes of my grandpa and grandmas. I did find a silver dime in my grandpas closet shelf, when we first moved in.

Given the reasonably good condition of the 1953 red seal 2 dollar bill, its value is close to $4.00. By keeping it in a container and storing it for a long time, your grandchildren might get $20.00 for it some day. Since I was born in 1953, there are 35 of these in my collection.

My dad, who was born in 1912, kept his first 2 dollar bill he was paid with, and kept it in his wallet until he died in 1997. His coin collection was given to my brother, who still has it.

i wish i had the knowledge back in the 80"s when i worked for a eccentric old guy who payed me every week in 2 dollar bills all the serial numbers match one after the other they corresponded 400 of them a week makes me mad thinking what i had but when ya got a family to take care of working was a blessing

We got about 500 $2 bills as part of a recent video we did. Among them, we found just 1 star note and no unique serial numbers. But we did get 3 red seal bills (including a 1928). Hard to think you'd find much in a stack of 34 bills.

Sometimes I find stuff, sometimes I dont. I've searched thousands of bills and not found a darn thing. It's all love for the hobby. It's the same for coins also, the point isn't finding that gem every time you pull some money out to search, it's the thrill of the hunt.

That Red Seal $2 is sweet! Great find! I wonder what it’s worth? I agree with you, that the reverse side of the current $2 bills is the most beautiful of all US bills. What genius came up with the letter identification for the reserve bank they came from? How stupid! You would think they would use a “B” for Boston, “A” for Atlanta, “N” for New York, etc. I guess that would be too easy though. Incredible! If you have them in your area, the restaurant, “Ted’s Montana Grill,” gives out $2 bills and dollar coins as change.

The first $2 bill. I remember something mentioned when the $2 bill was released to watch for. The A1 Series. Since it was the first to be released it would be the most valuable of them. And the lower the serial number the better. That is definitely an A serial bill and has a A mint and it has that 1 thing too. It looks like a keeper to me from what I remember about that. That's all.

You had shown the back of all the bills but when you got the the bicentennial 76 didnt show it. It is different on the back than the others isnt it? Even if its not a super collectable year, it would have still been interesting and nice to have had seen that distinction. Just a thought. Thanks

I came across a 1999 D quarter looks to be double die not sure new to coin collecting but its black & discolored on both side not dirt or anything of that sort clearly in great condition . I don't know if you seen right there where the what are the year of that $2 bill I don't know if you know but if you see you later in the day that I can tell you it has a letter on it right in the bottom of it that means that's how many times they had to fix an error on the $2 bill

Coin stores and currency collectors are the best to sell too, albeit they know what they are buying. I like auction sites too for selling them or to a series of personal contacts I know. I use Modern Currency Toploaders. They are durable and don't allow light to effect the color of the bill. They also are cheap online at sites like Amazon or eBay

In 1995.I purchased an old can full of foreign coins, most are worthless but interesting however,there was also a $5 dollar bill issued by 'CANAL BANK New Orleans Dated August 1/ the Month hand written, the '18' printed and the figures 60 hand written. I will make more serial number specific videos. Glad you are enjoying them. And yes, the seals can sometimes be off a little which I would say is just standard in most cases due to slight shifting but if the seal is dramatically off center or askew, I would consider that a misprint type error

Joy Swearengen there is no such thing as a “series” coin or an f marking on the Buffalo nickel you can find an s p or d s is for the San Francisco mint d is for the Denver mint and p is for the Philadelphia mint most likely that coin is a Philadelphia mint depending upon condition it could be worth 1$ to 10$
