Various Via Rail, GO Transit, and Freight Train Action in Kitchener, ON Spring of 2012

These clips were taken during the month of March of 2012. I was still getting comfortable with my new HD camera. You see the westbound GO Trains arriving into Kitchener from their trips from Toronto's Union Station. You also see several clips of Via Trains 87, 88, and 89. Via Rail Train 89 will be discontinued by the end of October of 2012. Please enjoy the video.

It's going to be pretty interesting once I hitch a train ride this coming December, because I am attending University of Waterloo all the way from Montreal, and I am to vacate my residence in 24 hours time after my last exam or my last class. When that time comes, it'll be my first chance in buying a VIA Rail ticket and riding such a train myself all the way back to Montreal, with a transfer in Toronto.

Go Transit trains don't literally run backwards. They are operated from a cabin in the back of the train which controls the locomotive. As for Cantrak.. it's not because the Via engine looks like a amtrak engine that the name should be similar because they are 2 totally different companies. There's multiple companies that have similar engines but that does not make them related in any ways.

Why does the GO TRANSIT train run backwards? Maybe because there is no turnaround? Also: The VIA engine looks like amtrak so it should be called CANTRAK....okay? I think one can agree that would be a reasonable compromise.
