tbf cryo not reacting with dendro makes other elements way stronger. cryo and dendro stacking allows additional blooms through mechanics i forget (lmao freeze being an empty reaction actually has a use), allows superconduct and aggravate to stack, and allows for extra application to superconduct electro charged instead of cryo reacting with dendro and stealing hyperblooms. it also allows for really strong infusion shenanigans with burning / melt. in effect, its lack of reaction buffs all other transformative reactions (superconduct isnt beef but it can hit twice at once like bloom which overload cant and electrocharged has a delay for, and post buff it adds up with how it helps other reactions, however indirectly). so dendro did buff cryo, but as a support element.

cryos real problems are freeze not being counted as a virtual state temporarily on enemies that can't be frozen (so you could shatter, proc blizzardstrayer, and proc cryo resonance - though shatter would likely need its damage nerfed to overload amounts at max due to benefiting from superconduct shred) and also being an all or nothing reaction (when it does work its only utility other than immobilizing is keeping cryo / hydro aura on the enemy), and modifiers not being entirely consistent with other elements that dont rely primarily on reactions for damage (half of anemo like xiao n wanderer, geo) because reverse melt makes things akward numerically, so talents arent high enough for strict mono (also shenhe being rare)

A character doesn't need to buff solely its own element to make the element's situation better, we barely had relevant melt teams before, and citlali alone enables mavuika to melt and be the second highest damage team in the game. And technically, she can still be used in freeze teams, except it would be more hydro centered freeze teams.

Genshin can do what dragon nest did on freeze.. instead of immobalizing bosses, the freeze can amplify damage on them. but devs are probably lazy or "ice-boxing" changes for the cryo region or whatever.

However without a battery, citlali suffers from energy issues which none of her cons address. Also em main stat pieces have a low droprate so getting a good one is incredibly rare, especially that goblet.

By far the only Cryo character that significantly helps forward melt for Pyro teams, she may not have Xiangling application levels. Still, she helps with her element archetype for being the best Cryo applier as of now, she does not save the element itself but she can make melt competitive against vape.

Fontaine with bond of life wasn’t this bad since you could still mix other characters for teams from different regions, as the whole Natlan nightsoul system, it’s a more bonus for more characters you have from Natlan for the nightsoul team. Part of the reason why I did not pull any Natlan characters. Mauvika is tempting but she is based on the nightsoul gimmick, so it’s a huge turn off for me

@niceone7007 Ok but.. 1- I personally never struggled with staying in the circle, even when i played with yanfei (a stamina consuming character) so, with all due respect, skill issue. 2- Her uptime is still really good and let's remember sacrificial bow exists and it's really good on her. A lot of characters have less than perfect uptime and it's never a problem. 3- Why would she need to have the strongest shield if she can just tank most of the damage and heal the rest back? And even then, it's more than enough for most of the content. 4- The movement speed buff is kinda useless, I'll give you that, but the stamina one is great for characters that use stamina. Oh, and i forgot to mention in the comment she also reduces enemy atk! 5- Can LanYan heal? Can LanYan apply cryo? IS LanYan cryo? Yeah, they shouldn't be compared. Very different qualities.

Diona burst also applies AOE Cryo every 2 seconds for 12 seconds on a 20 second CD. Paired with her skill, it's pretty good application for a 4-star Cryo. Meanwhile, Prototype Amber has the potential to be terrible for Lanyan's kit. To date, every Anemo unit in the game has scaled on ATK (including Jean and Sayu healing). If Lanyan shield ends up following trends and scaling on ATK too, PA's HP% substat will result in a much weaker shield. This will also apply to TTDS as it, too, has HP% substat. We'll keep our fingers crossed HoYo doesn't screw her over like that and instead make her the first HP scaling Anemo character as to not limit her weapon options. But regardless of if they do or don't, you're still sacrificing the ATK buff of TTDS for that pocket healing which will impact the damage of ATK-scaling allies (which every Pyro character is to an extent) so keep that in mind.

Diona has standard ICD, once every 2.5s, her Q hit once every 2s, so she applies cryo once every 4s.

While I love the joke that Neuvillette is getting buffed AGAIN, Neuvillette teams have already hit their peak I think with Furina Xilo Kazuha. Considering we get a character that would synergize perfectly but doesn't increase the teams damage more than existing options. Xilo herself was only a slight increase over petra zhongli already.

She doesn’t do much for Ayaka or Wriothesley. While TTDS + Cinder set is nice, the 20% res shred is too influential and doesn’t include cryo. Which means you want to pair her with a powerful Pyro carry like Mavuika, Arlechino, and surprisingly Gaming.

I believe Genshin could use a modification to the way Cryo reactions work, in a similar fashion to that of Zenless' Miyabi, essentially turning her Ice attribute into "frost" which can subsequently trigger both Frostburn then Shatter. And I believe Capitano could implement that change. Making him a dps that does damage through freezing, instead of simply CC'ing enemies.

I said it before and I'll say it again. This is Ayaka's Fault. When her banner had that extended delay..it gave EVERYBODY plenty of time to pull her. Pretty much everybody has her now. If you could freeze everything there would be no need to pull new units. After her extended banner, they started adding mroe bosses and Cryo immune enemies in the abyss to stop people from using her and pull new units. This is why Cryo went down.

its really a shame that Citlali does nothing with ELECTRO. The interaction with HYDRO, although strong, feels out of place. She SHOULD’VE either only CRYO + PYRO elemental bonuses or cut the pyro for electro (as mihoyo is saving the good cryos for snezh). It wouldn’t hurt a soul to make more units that can BE USED (not save) in PHYSICAL and SUPER CONDUCT (newly and improved) comps and i feel like adding ELECTRO/PHYSICAL res shred into her kit would be a very nice additive effect.

Imo the truth behind citlali is she shows they wrote them selfs into a corner with two characters. Mavuika. And shenhe. Shenhe's buff is so comically large that they saw the Chongyun meme and started to get scared of not being able to balance future cryo units and have been literally tried to ignore that the element even exists to this day. And mavuika is them literally designing citlali specifically to support the dps side of her. The off field side of her is perfectly fine and a great unit but they couldn't allow citlali to shred cryo specifically because shenhe exists. They have to watch how they make cryo. Because she exists. The definitely did it on purpose.

Absolutely agree, I got many Pyro characters except Mavuika (will pull on her rerun while her weapon is waiting for her return, got them both weapons along with Citlali's) and Arle who will be useful with Citlali and also can't risk letting her go because she may end up in Cryo Jail too along with Wrio and Charlotte.

Shenwho? I kid of course, I'm C6ing her on the Chronicle, which is why Mavuika is getting skipped. I ended up with a 20 pity Citlali but that's all i can spare. I wish I could go for C2/R1 but I'm just stretched too thin with too much stuffing happening all at once. I'll just have to bank on her being popular enough with China to get a fast re-run and go for C1-C2 + R1 next time. I do have Nahida's R1 so I do have a weapon for her. I was hoping the rumor about the new runs lasting all patch was true as that would let me use any extra wishes freed up after Arle/Shenhe on other stuff.

The problem with Citlali and a growing problem for all banner characters is that she will always have banner competition. She had to compete with the archon she supports best and I doubt she will ever be run on her own banner that isn't immediately followed by a highly anticipated new character. It's a new kind of premium character.

As someone who hates the freeze reaction I love Citlali she's everything I wanted from a cryo unit, instead of just freeze she helps pyro and hydro out more and her shield is pretty good from what I've been playing. Wriothesley melt has never felt so nice.

Not the best argument because several characters have been victims of powercreep in the past. Diluc got outdone by Hu Tao, who was outshone by Arlecchino who is now dusted by Mavuika. Cryo really got cucked when it was the only element out of phec elements to not react with dendro On top of that, cryo has some of the weakest reactions in the game with superconduct and freeze being practically useless in this day and age Citlali being a melt driver was a much needed addition as melt is its only useable reaction now I genuinely think unless they bite the bullet and retroactively add a cryo dendro reaction, cryo is never going to recover

Does Xilonen save Cryo? She does shred it and I’m pretty sure you can still make a freeze team or just mono cryo if you wanted. Only downside side is that she’s not cryo herself.

i just want HSR and ZZZ-like supports. like we still dont have a support that can share their own stats like hsr supports other than sucrose. wheres our "buffs crit damage based x characters crit damage" and supports that play around more technical parts of the game (like how candace deals damage when switching between characters) they have SO many options but its now just "x character scales off y stat, the buffs arent dependant on y stat but they provide more defensive utility with y stat" holy yap

C2R1 Citlali on Gilded Dreams has ~1450 EM, totaling to 18k HP shield at TL10 vs 55k HP ZL having about 15k HP shield. She might not have the same shield strength as Zhongli but she for sure does not get it broken either.

But Zhongli provides 150% shield absorption rate to all types of attack and has a passive of upto 25% shield strength and also include Tenacity of the Millelith artifcact upto 30%. is far more than citlali shield.

I did initially want Citlali because I really liked her as a character. But after thinking about it; besides Kachina, I had no Natlan character that provides some traversing capabilities. So, I changed my mind about Citlali and pulled for Mavuika instead.

@ exactly! I'd love a pyro support for melt because I can't have two xianglings and no one else is really consistent for it. I really felt it doing IT this rotation and my Chongyun team was kind of scuffed because I had to use the bennett-xiangling core elsewhere. I used thoma to get a couple of melts, but I'm pretty sure the only one who can really melt his burst hits properly is amber's burst or something which is really annoying.

Characters don't "save" elements. It's not like a character would single-handedly fix all of the problems an element has, nor would it fix anything. Only by having the game designers actually change or adjust the element, into something that has roughly the same flexibility and power "strong" elements have, would the element be "saved".

random idea for freeze: against bosses, make the freeze reaction slow them down (just like when enemies apply cryo to the player slows them down). so this would be like halfway in between completely immobilizing them and not doing anything

Supposedly Nod-Krai is the next region. In the AQ we learn that people in Nod-Krai use power outside of the 7 elements. Cryo units arent getting reruns and Citlali is specifically designed to not buff cryo. Skirk is being released probably at the end of Natlan. Conclusion: We're about to get a new element(prob quantum) and its reactions will buff cryo

I don’t get why people think Nod-Krai is gonna be a whole region unto itself, that makes zero sense. Nod-Krai just sounds like an area of Snezhnaya like how the Mare Jivari is just an area in Natlan. I hope youre right, I dont like the idea of Nod Krai pushing Snezhnaya back an entire year. The rest of what I said still works even if its just the intro region to Snez. Skirk, a student of one of the sinner's of Khaenriah, who we saw bend the whale into a quantum element shape, being a regular elemental vision holder would be dumb. Her, alongside the people of Nod Krai confirmed to use a power outside the 7 elements and cryo desprately needing and not recieving buffs sets the stage very well for a cryo buff heading into the cryo region

I'm not sure what other buffs cryo could have besides changing reactions themselves. Mono cryo has Shenhe, VV shred, and Xilonen. Freeze doesn't happen without hydro so having her also buff cryo is just a double buff that would only be useful on already easy-to-defeat freezable enemies. That really just leaves melt. I wish her cryo app was slightly faster. It would have also been amazing if she buffed superconduct so she could work well with her grandson and finally made physical DPS better. Maybe another character.

I've been saving for Shenhe since Chronicled wish got announced. A friend of mine who is terrible at saving Got Mavuika at 70 pity and then a double Citlali in the next 10 pull.... He was not guaranteed, as he had also gotten Chasca. I swear he never loses his 50/50s. So I did like 40 pulls trying to at least get one copy of Diona willing to risk a random 5 star. I got one kachina, random 4 star weapons, and on the very last pull i was willing to do got Diona at 49 pity. REALLY gonna save for Shenhe now! 87 pulls and a little over two weeks of grinding to go. Wish me luck! May Shenhe wanters be Shenhe havers.

Im not goint to lie, I might be only really getting into genshin for the past year or so but I think I get what mihoyo's game plan is. Basically, why fix a reaction or element when you can sell a character that can do it? Seriously speaking, why fix or buff a reaction in any serious way, and make a good portion of the roster instantly better, when you can keep releasing cracked units, and then put them in the disney vault to become the next FOMO rush when they rerun it (maybe possibly) in like a year if where lucky (not counting archons). I mean its not like they don't know they cryo is weak and geo is inert, whats the money in suddenly making Cyno good?
