i watched throught champion spotlights and for samira and nilah they literally wrote sentences like "the new tilt queen is here" and "make your opponents rage with this ability". i couldn't believe it. they blatantly prioritized having rich losers insta buy the new champs and their skins that cost more than an indie game so they get to 1v9 while the rest of the playerbase will be having a bad time *by design*. imo how a champion feels to play *against* is 9 times more important than how it is to play them.

@@bigsmoke4592 to be honest, i was raging at the new overloaded champions, but as i started to take the game less seriously and focused more on my individual gameplay (which will recover mental health) i dont mind the new champions at all. They are stupid fun, overloaded and carry you. But they are kinda the only way to climb, they balance the bad teammates and punish enemies mistakes. If you get good at samira/kayn/akshan/viego etc, you gonna climb and you will have a good time. Just turn of chat. I was maining Xin for a long time, but i realized he is too honest and fair, i switched to viego and i know i can carry even if my team has a bad start.

It's even worse if you consider how much the revive breaks the entire game. If your team mishandles a teamfight and Akshan manages to kill the guy(s) who snacked them, there is no strategic disadvantage aside from the gold for your team. But in the mid to late game, gold hardly matters anyway.

akshan is the definition of "but wait, there's more!" his passive alone has more text than nasus' entire kit. not only it has a lot of words, it has a lot of intricacies as well you can attack twice, and your attacks and Q apply a stack. if you hit an enemy 3 times, they take a burst of damage. but wait there's more! if you cancel your second auto, you gain movement speed instead. but that's not all! if you proc your passive on a champion, you gain a shield! AND THAT'S ONLY HIS PASSIVE! his other abilitiesm like Q extends infinitely as long as there's targets, guaranteeing he has a neutral game as if he's behind, he can just poke you from afar with minion extending Q then we get to his W. you get bonus gold just for avenging a fallen ally. not only that, YOU REVIVE THEM AS WELL! as if earning bonus gold wasn't enough. then it's active allows you to camoflage as long as you're near a wall. forcing laners to get control wards or be jumpscared by a ganking akshan

It's pretty telling that his ult didn't even get its own section in the video. it's just super situational, not to say underpowered, to somewhat balance the rest of his crazy kit. imo if they wanna keep the revive-mechanic on akshan (which seems to be pretty important lorewise) they should bake it into the ultimate. On the topic of the revive breaking the rules of the game: every champion breaks the rules of the game in some fashion, at least technically. Some of them are more obvious, like how champions that can scale infinitely have scaling abilities at all, or how Ornn can make items strictly better, or hiw Ziggs can just delete a tower. But others might not immediately stand out, like how Garen can just regen more than anyone else, or how Yuumi can grant her damage to her carry. All of the cool things we get to do in the game are breaking the rules in some capacity. It's the exact same phenomenon as something like Magic the Gathering. When you play a creature, you have to wait a turn before you can use it...unless it has Haste, then you can break that rule. When you attack, you have to tap that creature...unless you have Vigilance, then you can break that rule. You can only draw one card per turn...unless you play a card that lets you break that rule. All of that said, Akshan breaks so many rules at once that it loops back around to being unfun instead of being a cool addition to the game.

Something I think would help but not fix his revive is to make it so he can only revive one person that the enemy killed. Often times in team fights one person gets most if not all of the kills meaning if they get 3 kills he only gets one revive. Which yes is still crazy but it helps and I definitely think he needs to be the one to kill them not just an assist adding more risk to him working to get a revive. Not perfect but it helps... a bit As a side note this would also make for a cool bit of lore because if he can only revive one person you could have a story where someone kills 2 or more people that he really cared about and once he gets the scoundrel he would have to choose who to revive and it would be heart reaching for him.

video is kinda good, fair points tbh. Altho I disagree on the disadvantage state, askhan has legit a dogshit disadvantage, he's just an assassin bad at assassinating but given the tools to be fed. His laning is annoying, yes but so is Lucian or Tristana that we often see go solo lane, and they function more like traditional marksmen when fed, while akshan is way less useful when not ahead. all in all he's strong because he's like Katarina, works well in chaos and he also takes away one of 4 things from any comp : A real assassin, a real mage/control champ if played mid, a bruiser, or a tank if played top.

Changing fundamental aspects of any game for the sake of a gimmick in a character's kit is awful regardless of weather that change makes the character worse (something like making death timers 1.2 times longer) or better. It is fine to alter interactions like Kayn wall walking (should not heal though) or Evelyn perma stealth. But to change an other wise universal mechanic is a bad choice as it is cheating. Imagine you went to TF gold passive and added that he could sell items at 100% purchase price, or just giving the ability to buy items with the same text to only one champ (like two IEs or two life line items).

Twisted Fates passive used to give 2 gold to all team members for last hitting, they removed it because it was to strong. Zileans passive used to give extra XP to all team mates, again removed because it was too strong. If Akshan was an earlier champion the revive would be removed around the same time they got rid of the Revive summoner spell.

@@Ai-jr4ou If I remember correctly they got rid of it around season 2 or 3, at the same time they got rid of most of the buff and gold per minute items - the justification at the time was to remove hidden/non-obvious power. Quite a few of the older champions had global passives or ultimate's that were then reworked or reduced in range.

I think the reset is annoying because it enables him to be the pain in the ass that he is. Darius reset isnt as bad because he needs the 5 stack and hes also melee so you can run. Akshans reset enables him to keep rushing the enemy team down so he can keep reviving his team and getting bonus gold to keep snowballing

Ok i wanna know which psycho got the idea to give akshan a revive. If u look at other games, take Sage, Lifeline and Mercy, they are SUPPORTS who have to facetank the enemy team and "channel" for a set amount of time to res ONE teammate, then theres akshan, who just does his job and has a potential 4 man res. Its like we're in a mineshaft and you can either mine, collect, transport, or sort ores. But then theres one guy who is like if he cant do mining he can transport too. And then its like if he does EITHER of those, he gets a free meal, a month of free rent and 2 new fkin cars

Well, that's an easy answer. Riot wants their pro scene to be engage supports. Milio is an anti-engage, making him an obvious pick against all in engages. But because he works exactly as he should and Riot doesn't want an enchanter meta, they nerfed him into the ground so now he's literally unplayable in comparison to when he came out. They either go all in or decide a champion shouldn't exist. They want the plays to be exciting and engaging. They don't want stalled games - all things Milio wants. So they ruined his timers and subverted his playstyle which makes him entirely unplayable because . . the point of his kit is being ignored. Of course they've recently "buffed" his Q, but his Q is not only his last maxed ability, but he cannot reasonably go AP and it's so minimal to his entire kit that it might as well have been not done at all. So until the balance team decides they're tired of a tank, engage support meta ( Rell, Naut, Thresh, Leona, etc ) we're not getting Milio to a playable state.

tristana is a predictable lane bully, is feast or famine like Samira/Draven, and has 0 comeback mechanic. Akshan can hunt shutdowns and get extra 100g if scoundrel just for the sake of existing. At least draven has to work for his adoration stacks, and tristana jump deals neglectable dmg, most of the dmg is in her E. Without navori she feels bad.

Lane bullies are supposed to fall down on mid to late, but Draven's scaling make it to the point where you can't outscale him late game even if you respect his early. Yesterday I had a match, Renata Kai'Sa vs Draven Thresh. By playing our lanes passively and respecting their engage capacity we had good advantage, I had a KD of 2/0/20 and the Thresh had around 0/6/8. Draven also had a very low kd during the 20 minute mark, it all seemed very winnable. But out of the sudden he bought Infinity's Edge and with one autoattack he dealt 1000 damage, he one-shoted me with two auto attacks. This a Draven with 150 cs, 3 kills and 6 deaths mind you. So how is it fair that I got an early advantage against an early game champion and he still outscales my entire team?

@@goro0568 500 auto range, most supports, mages and tanks have cc that can easily hit him or engage onto him, in terms of teamfights Akshan is probably the ADC that is the easiest to nullify/shut down, and unlike the other short range ADCs, he has nothing to dodge spells with reactively, as hookshot is completely unreliable at doing that.

I am convinced that Akshan is a spit in a face of the people who complain about overloaded champions. And intended one at that. By the time he was released, complaints about overloaded kits were already formed and largely popular. And then Riot releases that guy. His abilities weren't overloaded in same way as other champions before him had it. They got tools to work with every situation their champion's class/type/idea could realistically be in and maybe some overly strong reward mechanic (true damage on Gwen Q, Viego passive). For Akshan, it feels like on top of same treatment, designers held an extra competition to put as much stuff in his kit as they could, no matter if it makes sense in a game plan of marksman or assasin (passive shiel, REVIVE , mana regen in stealth and so on) Ever noticed all his nerfs and buffs are a numbers game? Balance team had no problem stripping unnecessary mechanics from overloaded champions. (Zeri stealing shields, akali tower immunity). Yet this dude stays the way he is. And for that I take him as a wordless message from developers that they do not care about player's complaints

Just compare how hard it is for Renata to save one person after looking at Akshan. You give a buff, and *if* they die in that time and then *if* they score a kill in the around 2 seconds they have left they stay at 20% hp. Of course the enemy team isn't awarded a kill in this case, but again, this can affect one ally at most. Akshan says "I do what I do anyway" and gets gold like pyke and resurrects his whole team. Fun

The Problem with Akshan is that he has passives that he dont need in his kit, the shield, the Q passive proc, infinite stealth, revive, E reset, even his ultimate procs his passive and he dont even need it. He has such a nice, cool and strong kit but because they had to put every possible assassin/marksman passive in his kit, he is just overloaded.

Still Akshan is more risky to play than a real assassin (team fighting) Yes, he can in and out but ONLY if he kills, Zed can blink back and Kha'zix can rejump and so on, Akshan's E only works if you score a kill and is easily exploitable as a escape tool when you just have to stand near him to cancel it

I agree with the first ~60% of the video, but honestly almost EVERYTHING you said about the revive is wrong imho. "Completely bail you out of the consequences of death" - bro he is NOT REVERSING the death, you get the gold, XP, shutdown bounty, etc and keep that, none of that gets reversed. What you're referring to is something like Renata E (I think that's the revive one?), old Aatrox ult or Zilean ult or even GA, which actually deny the kill. Not only is the whole "sanctity of death in LoL" argument irrelevant to Akshan, there are so many other champs who it doesn't apply to. Second, if it applied to Soraka, it would be a HUNDRED TIMES WORSE. Even ignoring the fact that Zilean and Renata have kill denying as mechanics of their kit already (even if not in the same implementation), all Soraka would have to do is ult and ANYONE in the team killing the scoundrel (or whatever Akshan calls them) would trigger the revive! And if you change it so that only kills trigger the revive (which is honestly a horrible change - making mechanics proc only on kill is frustrating for no reason, especially on a champ whose only execute is that joke of an ult), it would be stupidly anti-synergistic with the kit of a non-damage dealer, while also making it less reliable for no good reason. Finally, about both potentially reviving 4 allies and about not having to put yourself into any risk - you can only trigger the revive by killing the guy who got those kills! The situation in which you can revive 4 people is when you, alone and without any team, kill the Viego who just wiped your team, not by killing the Nami trying to ward the river or whatever. If the enemy team can not/does not recognise that the guy who just got the quadra is now a VIP with Akshan trynna hunt them and play Protect the President then that's on them, but it certainly isn't 'going through no risk'. You can argue that the payoff is substantial, but at least it is not disproportional to the risk involved.

Akshan main here. I wholeheartedly agree that the revive passive is unnecessary and I would be completely fine, if not happy if it got removed. Ideally the scoundrel passive should remain but I can live with going rogue being reworked entirely. Other than that, I think akshan is presented as way stronger in the video than he actually is ingame. His ultimate is one of the most useless ultimates, if not abilities in general. Anything that isn't a ward blocks it (a detail that isn't mentioned in the video at all). Here is of the top of my head a list of things that block comeuppance: a minion (one wave blocks the entire ult), raptors, wolves, krugs,gromp, red buff, blue buff, scuttle crab,dragon, baron,herald, teammates, summons (tibbiers, daisy, mistwalkers, void ramoras, voidlings, hextech turrets, zyra plants, visible jack in the boxes), your outermost turret in all lanes, an exposed inhibitor, an exposed nexus. All that to say, if you're not extremely mispositioned, comeuppance is usually useless. Furthermore, his q having infinite range theoretically is a scam for the neutral, and mostly used to shove wave. In terms of poke, you can usually hit a good opponent only when coming out of stealth and they are the first target, or in some cases the second. You will never hit an opponent that pays attention from a q that extends off of more than one minion. Also, every single clip shown in the video had an akshan that was fed, the least fed being a 4/1 akshan that got a triplekill in the end of the clip. That also made him seem stronger than he is. Another point is that akshan has a horrible disadvantage state, especially in a lane when most everyone has a tool to get on you. Most toplaners have an engage tool to get and stay on you, or cc to lock you down. Getting on akshan means that he cannot use his heroic swing to disengage, since it ends on first champion contact, which means than he is an adc within melee range that cannot get out of melee range in the lane where most champions can run you down to your turret or dive you. Also a jungler moving in from behind Akshan can simply walk to him and he cannot use heroic swing to escape unless he finds a weird angle, which I'm willing to say is room for skill expression. Heroic swing is not a get out of jail free card. Akshan is also weak to champs that can slow him from range (Sion, chogath, aatrox), weak to displacement that cancels his heroic swing (knockups, grounds,stuns), and attack speed slows are the bane of his existence (ground slam, riposte, frozen heart). End rant. Ps, I find it weird how it also wasn't stated in the video that you can cast comeuppance while in heroic swing, or the other way around, cast and recast heroic swing while charging up comeuppance. It rarely is a useful thing to do, but there is room for skill expression in rare cases, where you can heroic swing to clear an obstacle and have comeuppance actually hit for once.

While I agree that akshan is overloaded, nobody should take anything this guy says as gospel. Right off the bat at the beginning of the video he says “akshans winrate hovers around 52-53%, which means in a hundred games he has a net positive of 4-6 games” - NO? 52-53% literally already means out of one hundred, which means 2-3 games. Not to mention this stat is misleading because akshan has hovered closer to 50% far longer than 53%. If this is the quality of thought put into these videos then it is entirely disingenuous and not a “critical analysis”

We used to have a Champ with a revive in HoN as well, however that was a Supp champ (it was a 3 min Cooldown Ult) , and there were some stringent conditions to use it. It was a 3-5 sec channel on a toombstone the ally left when they died which could be destroyed by any enemy nearby, therefore wasting the ult if the toombstone got destroyed before you finished your ult. I too feel that they made a gargantuan blunder by giving something like that on a passive.
