May the Sammelan be a big success and may all the kids, young and old, immerse themselves in the ocean of Konkani heritage.

Not only disappointing but also confused with the video!. Is the intent to share, discuss our rich heritage and culture and feel proud about it or show how miserable we are getting by the day through inviting such guest(lady)who cannot even talk a word of Konkani. This is not funny but sad as we can boast endlessly about entrepreneurship, achievements etc but the basic fundamentals are found lacking.

Prashant Kini it's sad that you cannot see her story and also her passion and interest to learn even now! If she wasn't so passionate about it, she wouldn't have even been part of this sammelan. And also basic fundamentals include understanding where people come from before publicly shaming them for something.

Ajay Prabhu please understand and appreciate views rather than advocacy. You may choose to disagree with your own set of opinions but trying to counter facts with an emotional and biased approach is not advisable. I rest the case.

Prashant Kini you talk about appreciating views and stating facts, but you fail appreciate the views of someone who grew up in a completely different surrounding. Let's appreciate the fact that she's trying to learn and be part of all this, even if she "cannot even talk a word of konkani" :) instead of seeing this as "showing how miserable we are" let's see it as how people are still interested in learning the konkani culture and language :) I would surely feel proud of that!

Namaskaru Mr. Prashant Kini. The video is not disappointing but your comment surely is. Going by your views I am uncertain if you have watched the entire video but if you really have, then I pity "how miserable we are getting by the day" to comprehend a simple interview. Also, "its not funny but sad" the way you are contradicting yourself when you say "trying to counter facts with an emotional and biased approach is not advisable" - so let me lay it down for you - FACT : She mentioned that she grew up in a surrounding where the scope of learning Konkani was little to none. YOUR COMMENT: "Is the intent(of the video) to share, discuss our rich heritage and culture and feel proud about it..." Oh well! Now look who's getting emotional about our heritage and culture by completely refusing to understand the fact of a person's life. * Slow claps * Talking about "basic fundamentals", it is a basic fundamental to first understand someone's story and background before putting out your judgement. Isn't it a good thing that she is interested to know more about her culture and language? So, before you criticize someone its always better to walk a mile first in their shoes.

Hey Shloka is doing this specifically to show how the language should be preserved. She's showing that there are people out there who don't speak the language but are making an effort to learn.

This Konkani Sammelan is very parochial and one sided. Goa is the origin of konkanis. The konkani they are speaking is Karnataka konkani. Please speak in Standard Goa Konkani.

Shame that this lady that she can't even speak a word of her own mother tongue! Why do you invite such people in the first place? To listen to their English? You learn technology, rocket science, french, spanish and so many other subjects but not your mother tongue? More shame on parents for not speaking and teaching mother tongue to their children. Future of our konkani samaj and language is bleak! Thanks to such people

Santosh Pai, I usually don't comment on KZbin. But your comment deserved a reply. Even after she told her story of why she couldn't talk konkani, I can't believe you're saying such things! Encourage her for trying to learn more not act like this and discourage her from even trying. Get people to be a part of the community through love and not hatred. If the konkani samaj that you talk about is about being such a hater, I being a konkani guy feel ashamed about it!

Namaskaru Santosh Pai! Of all the things you said, I agree with one thing for sure; the future of our Konkani language and Samaj is definitely bleak. Specially when people who think that they know better about their language would indulge in belittling the ones that are interested in learning about their culture. I don't see why its so hard to decipher the reason why she doesn't speak Konkani when she tells her story so clearly. Please see the bright side where the lady is showing her desire to learn about her culture.. isn't that great? The world will be a better place when you try to see the good side of a person instead of mudslinging which is uncalled for. Our Konkani Samaj will be stronger only with pragmatic encouragement and not with unnecessary humiliation.

@@sarbaba irrespective of who says what - if someone cannot speak their own mothertongue, its a shame. Shame on them and shame on their parents. No excuses. They learn everything except their mothertongue. In todays time you may be a witness yourself, intercaste and interreligious marriages, liberalism and subsequent speaking to each other and their children in English is the biggest cause of decline of our language. this will for sure wipe out our language and culture slowly but surely. Btw if you are so inspired by this lady (which I am not), pl do a movie on her.
