Overwing exit doors are unlocked while taxiing. The lock is a 28V solenoid that locks when powered. The door flight lock will automatically lock during take off, in-flight, landing, and unlock on the ground to allow for opening of the exit in emergency situations. The commands for the flight lock are dependent upon engine speed thrust level position. It also unlocks when power is cut. Once the plane is pressurized, the doors cannot be removed even if unlocked. To be fair, there were 3 planes who just needed to do absolutely nothing until someone else fixed the situation. It's hardly the same as a pilot trying to save their plane from a bad malfunction and needing all of their attention on the important stuff.

This character should be jailed for a while, banned from flying for life, & have a judgment entered against him for all the expenses of cleaning up & the wasted time of everyone involved.

I wonder if he asked to be let out or he just did it. He may have had a panic attack due to fear of flying. Not making excuses; he needs to be on a no fly list and charged a fee for the deployment.

Never mind...there is an article written about this. The man was arguing with his girlfriend and for an unknown reason did this.

Good to consider the very rare case of a person having a legitimate crisis and deserving some sort of empathy. But as it usually the case it was apparently just some selfish emotionally immature jerk acting out and inconveniencing (possibly endangering) everybody else and they should be dealt with severely so they regret it for the rest of their lives. Certainly on no-fly list and spending the rest of their lives working off the debt of compensating the airline and passengers for their losses.
