*New video for this new series!* Hope you like it. This way we can experience both points of view: pilots in the cockpit and ATCs in their control facilities and tower. If you're a pilot and want to share your experiences up there, go ahead and send me an email :)

VASAviation - I LOVE this! Yes! Do it when you can, please!
@workingguy-OU8125 жыл бұрын
Question: once, a few years ago, the pilot pumped the air traffic control comms over one of the channels we had as options for our headphones. I loved it, and learned a lot from it. Now, though, it seems that nobody does it. Do modern planes prevent this feature, or do modern pilots just not enable it?
@mikecowen65075 жыл бұрын
@@workingguy-OU812 United was the only one I knew that consistently did this. I loved it! Apparently post 9/11, it's considered a security risk, as if someone about to perform a lawless act wouldn't bring their own radio if they needed it.

Exactly! There seems to be some controllers (and pilots) who think that lazily mumbling and swallowing their words is somehow more efficient. At an international airport with plenty of non native English speaking pilots it seems that you are almost asking for more repeated instructions and confusion.

This top the list as being the best i have ever seen . Thank You for your hard work . I'm sure that you put a lot of time and effort into producing it . I would enjoy seeing more like this. These are what the public needs to see rather than the crash and burn type videos . This brings it to light that Aviation is one of the safest ways to travel.It also shows just what professionals air traffic controllers and pilots are . Then you stop a minute and listen and realize there are many other aircraft landing right along with these Pros and being guided by the same controllers you had . Looks good to me.. THANK YOU for making this possible for my old butt.People say i'm eat up with it , i guess i may be just that because i retired with 20 years service in aviation back in 2010 . Sure miss it to.

Nice video! Why wasn't the Iberia transferred to a ground frequency? I heard other planes being done so. And when they approach the ramp area, it said on the ground: "contact 130.8" but I did not hear the pilot call rampcontrol on 130.8.
@VASAviation5 жыл бұрын
Taxi was not long so no need to call Ground Control. Not long taxi into the ramp so no need to call Ramp to coordinate your way into the gate. Things shall keep as simple, quick and safe as possible.

Great video. I'm not an aviation expert so a quick question. Why a marshaller on top of steps guiding them in?? At a modern airport it seems a bit antiquated to say the least!
@Boodieman725 жыл бұрын
Well the steps are so the pilots have an easier time seeing them. The marshaller is there to guide the plane to a spot where the jet bridge will line up with the door.

Question: The controller said straight to the ramp. Was that little jog on quebec to victor permissible?
@VASAviation5 жыл бұрын
Actually yes. As you can see, their ramp is not straight ahead after crossing runway 12 so they can decide where to turn to face the entry of the ramp. You then can hear the controller specify "next right" into the ramp.

A cool thing about Miami Airport - You can go to PTZ-tv webcam and watch the airport from a restaurant across from Runway 9. The camera slowly pans, but unfortunately most takeoffs/landings aren’t seen EXCEPT occasionally, from roughly 5-7 pm local time M-F when the camera angle is fixed toward the west. You can watch them stack up in the glide slope, 3 and sometimes 4 at a time; and occasionally even spot the 747 cargo or even an A-320, if you’re lucky. And you can activate ATC if desired.

Why does the glide slope appear so shallow?
@mikecowen65075 жыл бұрын
3° isn't very steep. Try a Space Shuttle sim @ 19° and you'll swear you're going be a lawn dart. You pull @ 2000 ft., and you're on the ground at ~200kts. Having watched a landing at Edwards AFB, from the time of the double sonic boom (wings & tail break separately), to wheels down is 26 very fast seconds!

Why does the controller say that the landing traffic will hold short of the intersection? She never told the pilots not to cross the intersection...
