I think it's the fact that there's such a delay between Wolfwood's death and this scene. It just goes to show how long he's held it inside and now the shockingly stoic facade he had at the end of episode 23 and the goofy behaviour at the start to episode 24 come crumbling away without any words or flashbacks. It's abrupt and it takes a second, but when it hits you _why_ he's crying and why he cries _now_ coupled with what follows immediately after is harrowing. It's a genuine meltdown that he's been holding together as long as he could

Holy shit I never realized the first time the idea of them not being human pops up from Vash crying to Knives. So when Knives does the super fucked up shit hes doing it (IN A WAY) to protect his younger brother. Which just makes me think of Knives being utterly shocked everytime Vash shoots him. (Because Knives at first is only trying to make a safe world for Vash and him) Still Knives deserves to die.
