Knew of Vashti, or at least I though i did, till I heard your very through coverage. The quality of her early material may have been commercially questionable, that voice always remained true to that soft sirenish execution. Nice episode. 🖖🚀

I did not know of her but I do like the clips you played of her! I like that sort of stuff and have quite a few LPs & 45s in that vein. DO like Twice As Much also - never saw that LP, though! Thanks for showing these diamonds in the rough!

Interesting story, how you came by it. I know the album very well and you are beyond fortunate to have that record in spotless condition. Beautifully performed and recorded. I agree her 2nd period was also really strong material, if not quite as exceptional as the debut. I wonder how many of those 300 or so albums back then are still around....

This was fantastic and to have the original, unreal. It is that important to me as well that I would find a way to buy an original pressing, if I had a chance! Awesome to see the original 45 and the first appearance of the other songs on those lps. I do have the LITA comp of all that stuff, which does have a bunch of great demos on it. I too love Lookaftering a LOT but I need to buy Heartleap at some point. Thought I had it. Great work Jonas!

Jonas, thank you for the story of Vashti. I knew part of it from reading Electric Eden by Rob Young, which covered the hippie part of her story but I don't think that it covered her earlier, aspiring pop singer. I have had a digital copy of her album since 2008, but I don't think that I have seen the real thing. I didn't know her earlier singles. Take care, Chris.

Interesting artist. If you like her you may also like Bridget StJohn. I was Fortune to see Vashti Bunyan 2010 at "Södra teatern, Stockholm" with a friend, maybe you was at the gig too, great gig of course. But why am I writing in English?

Beautiful lp and one of my big regrets that I didn't buy an OG. Local dealer had one I would say just over a decade ago. He had £450 on it but it did have some marks on it. I could have took it home (without paying) to check it out but I never did. I think he had it a month or two before a friend bought it. He reckons it plays well but he's more tolerant of surface noise than I am. Still, it was a bargain in hindsight as the price as you know has gone bonkers in the last decade. Incidentally the dealer had bought it from someone who had found it at a car boot sale about 2 miles from my house, for £1. Great episode mate...Nige

Hi Nigel! That was a close one, but good thing your friend got it. Yes, it is a very quiet record so too much surface noise can certainly spoil the listening experience. I was lucky enough to get it before the prices went through the roof. Finding it for £1 at a car sale would really be a massive adrenaline rush! Haha. Thanks for tuning in!
