I'm not a dishwasher expert, but when we got ours I was concerned about the long run time... almost 4 hours! So I did some research and learned that the reason behind that is that newer dishwashers are made to be energy efficient and they use less water, cycling through the same water a couple times... and that's why it takes so long. When you do express wash it takes less time but uses more water.
@kevinalexander9255 Жыл бұрын
Same, this is what I gathered after watching many videos that express wash uses more water and electricity. So we run our dishwasher overnight at 3:30 hrs/mins. Also, did her wine glasses break?

They are also slowed down if your water isn't hot enough, (at least some) will use the heating element to get the water to temp and that takes more time.

@@sunrae7680 running the water in the sink until it’s hot also decreases the time of your washing cycle. A lot of the time is dedicated to getting the water up to a hot enough temperature(this saves me about 30 minutes). And also, the hotter your water is, the better your dishes will heat dry, if you use that setting.
@christinefuntas90513 жыл бұрын
Always learn something new from you! Two things to share. When the tech installed my dishwasher, he told me that using a rinse aid (Finish) not only helps with spots, but will also dry your plastics. It works! (I notice it doesn't on the short cycle. Maybe not enough drying time?) Also, when unloading my dishwasher, I dump the two silverware baskets on the counter, sort, and put away, rather than making several trips back and forth to the dishwasher. Great sorting activity for little kids!

In Italy we choose the long cycle (especially the "ECO" - ecological ones) because they use way less power compared to a quick wash! 😉 Also we never open the dishwasher when it has just finish the cycle because the steam ruins the kitchen furniture over time 😃
@LOCA4493 жыл бұрын
And also the express cycle is not good for the dishwasher because the dishwasher doesn't have time to properly heat up, and do his magic. 😁
@LemLTay3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The interdependent factors are roughly grouped into Time, Detergent, Water Usage, Power Consumption & Soiling. When one wishes to reduce Power Consumption alone, then the other factors need to go up. As detergent and water are costly too, and soiling cannot be reduced (unless one does pre-washing by hand which defeats the idea of convenience), the only factor left to increase is TIME. Lower temperatures, less water but a longer exposure to the spraying action does give good results while keeping the kWh consumption low.

Rinsing is only necessary when the food is crusty dry: so, I am schooling the kids to load their used dishes right away to avoid the drying stage..... Also inspecting and cleaning the side rubbers is a must, depending of the frequency of usage. And read the owner's manual: that will give you an 'Aha' moment. My brother tells me (he knows so much!) The wine glasses are not to be cleaned with detergent. Only hot water. And maybe vinegar. This will keep the flavor of the wine from being disturbed

I’ve heard this before, but I don’t see how hot water (not even boiling?) can kill germs and get the glass really clean.

I’ve heard this as well. Strange!

Thanks. Also glass gets scratched in the dishwasher over time so only wash the glasses you don’t mind replacing

Sorry, but that doesn't make sense, because glass is not porous and doesn't absorb like paper or plastic. Maybe rinsing the glass before pouring the wine would assure that you don't have soap residue. Also, I would think (and hope🤞) the wine makers prewash the bottles before wine is placed, so how is that any different from washing the glasses?🤔

Not too sure about this. Legally, commercial places have to use soap and crazy hot water and steam to sanitize dishes and glassware before use by customers. Detergent removes grime from building up and should rinse away with water. If you still taste detergent, should rinse longer.

I put my bowls on the top but in the opposite direction. Looks so foreign backwards. 😂

Every manufacturerer has different arrangements

It depends on which way the wire separators are arranged. It's not a universal setup.

I always start stacking from the back forward so to make them nest they would have to go that way. Also I stack them way closer than this lady did.

I was definitely using the wine rack wrong. Thank you!

Weird, I work at whirlpool and this landed in my recommended lol. We make mostly 3 rack dishwashers now and the tines are even adjustable now.

Yes, I really like my new WP dishwasher racks. Really like the Cutlery tray on top. Had a electrolux before and the racks were awful, glasses had to be packed a certain way or they would slide all over.

All my appliances are Whirlpool. I've never had a problem with any whirlpool appliance. I'll only buy Whirlpool because it's made in America.

My dishwasher was terrible for cleaning. Then I saw an appliance guy say throw the pod into the back of the dishwasher and IT WORKED WONDERS
@hopenoneya81613 жыл бұрын
When a cycle has finished open the door pull out top rack and shake it several times. This helps get water off dishes. I then leave the door ajar to dry. I save on electric doing also.

I agree Cascade platinum pods are the best. We have hard water. Works great!

So who volunteers to tell my husband that pre rinsing is wasteful and useless? Because I've been trying for 7 years 😂

My dishes sometimes sit for a couple days 😬so often feel like I need to pre wash 😂
@gypsybelle47573 жыл бұрын
As long as he does it and he loads the dishes, I’d consider giving him a pass on it. Maybe he’s like me and grew up with a dinosaur of a dishwasher and got into Big trouble if he forgot to pre rinse. It’s a hard habit to break. And could be worse...he could be putting his stinky socks in the dishwasher. 😂🧦🧦

Pre rinsing helps maintain a cleaner dishwasher. It is the same thing as prewashing clothing that is soiled with unwanted things on it before putting it in the washer. So guess I am out lol
@mattiaiezzi93813 жыл бұрын
@@ChixenLil not necessarily true. I fix appliances as a hobby and people who prerinse tend to have problems with detergent not dissolving completely and creating clogs. Not prerinsing is an issue only when low temp or short cycles are used, but you'd be surprised to know that some of the cleanest dishwashers I've seen were from people who do not rinse anything. If your dishwasher has filters, please remember to clean them twice a month
