You did not clean the oil screen (oil sensor)? This is an additional filter an the oil filter... Mostly there is a lot of metal pieces in this filter, so you should take this out as well en clean it!
@ducatinyc10 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are a few things i could have done better and different with this oil change. However, this was done 2 months after I got my moto license and first bike, so I think I did good :) Also, some of the metal shavings get magnetized to the oil cap thought and i did wipe those off.

So, what was the exact quantity it took to fill it between the max and min lines?

3qt for me but might be lil less or more for you - depending how much you drain out

Isn't it a good idea to partly fill the new oil filter with new oil before installing it?
@ducatinyc9 жыл бұрын
Markus Rubach Yea, i've seen some people do that, yet others do not. I've done a few oil changes where I didn't and one that I did, not sure what the big difference is. Perhaps if you add a little to the oil filter before installing you don't have to add as much when you fill it up? Thank you much for watching!
@georgem5795 жыл бұрын
Not really required BUT if you don’t, carefully watch and add as required after starting. Check and double check to make sure level is good and all air is out of filter. Come to think of it mAnual should tell you quantity of oil with and without filter. Personally I change filter every oil change. It’s not a big deal and only a few bucks. Cheers, nice vid

Nice vid. Listen to your friend about the human body metaphor. 1k-2k miles is recommended by the Ducati owners that I know. Ride safe!

1-2k miles eh? seems sooo often. no? i'm looking forward to changing the oil again as i feel i will do a much better and thorough job second time around.
@bonogun11 жыл бұрын
Vassili Shishkin Maybe, but the guy who suggested this was the owner before me. He is a certified bike mechanic who really knew what he was doing with it. A 2002 with 11k miles and the bike is in like new condition. So for me…I plan to follow his lead and continue what he was doing :) Also, he suggested Motul for everything fluids. The oil is a synthetic Motul 7100 10W-40 4T. Most owners who take maintenance seriously seem to be ok with a few extra $$ on synthetic. Mine is Monster, 2002 M750 Dark.
@vassilishishkin859711 жыл бұрын
bonogun makes sense. nothing but the best for my precious little Monster :) I just hit 5000 miles on my 06 620 - another thousand and its time for 6000 mile checkup, should be fun - right before my cross country ride.

Hi, do you ever notice your clutch slipping when you change up riding aggressively? It never slips apart from when I pin it and change at 10k rpm from 1st to second. I was thinking it could maybe be the oil used? Shell ultra is apparently what is recommended. Or is it just the nature of the APCT slipper clucth? Cheers
@ducatinyc8 жыл бұрын
+DannyRed I have noticed that, actually. I never thought it might have anything to do with the oil though - but maybe you're right. I though the clutch slipping was just due to me abusing it and perhaps the clutch plates needed to be swapped out. Shell Ultra, I will take a note and check it out next time. Thank you!

wedge a piece of cardboard between the crank case and the exhaust next time, that way you avoid spilling oil on the exhaust.

@dsofe48798 жыл бұрын
Ducati NYC Vlog I used to work as a grease monkey when I was younger, we'd always have tons of cardboard around for the more difficult cases. Its a quick and cheap way to guide the oil where you want it and customers really appreciated not having their cars smell like crap for a week because there was oil on the headers :)
