I totally agree with your thought on bass...I think we south Asians are not as generous with bass as we are with other malody based instruments... Our music is traditionally more treble-centric... The way black funk and RnB artists, French house DJs, Rappers apply bass as underlying soul of their song is remarkable and addictive...I think.. A. R Rahman is the foremost South Asian Artist who has been using bass masterfully and creatively in Indian composition like no other composers are able to do even today...
