So many people not caring or wanting to help someone in need. An entire village of "Oh, I haven't seen him since February" suddenly turning up and appearing "concerned" when a stranger comes to help. Ambulance workers who couldn't be bothered to even cover the poor man's nakedness. And the hospital head, my god. Thank you, Sergei, no one should be left forgotten and abandoned like that.

So appalling and heartbreaking. How much effort would it have taken if the villagers had got together to rake out the rubbish, washed his blankets, provided even a bowl of soup daily, instead of complaining about the smell. Inhumane. I really hope he gets the help he needs.

What's even worse in my opinion, is Michael has a son living his life somewhere else, with NO CONCERN for his poor father! 🤬 Obviously, his son hadn't talked to or seen him in at least 6 months, but I'm sure it's been years. How shameful! 😠 The son would most likely say he didn't know, but that's because he didn't check on his father or he would have known. He just didn't care enough and didn't want to know. 😢 And that lady at the Health Ministry is a cold ass beotch! Her answer to Sergei was "It's not our problem" until he said he was a journalist. She has no heart either. I feel for ALL of these poor souls and NO ONE should be forgotten like this. I pray Michael makes it and lives a better life in a place that cares about him. 🙏 God bless you, Sergei. ❤ "THERE BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD GO I." My donation is in the way! I hope it can help. ❤

That's the Russian system I guess. I'm not saying it's like this everywhere in Russia - probably better in big cities. And of course this can as well happen elsewhere. But structural widespread problems including indifferent aid workers or institutions vs. lone select cases elsewhere can make a big difference. I already fear getting old and more fragile in western nations - so I wouldn't want to switch with someone lone and aging in a remote place in Russia.

I had a neighbor in much worst condition than this. It was during the epidemic I had wondered how I didn’t see her in months. I actually thought she had moved out. I remember seeing her every so often taking out her trash cans to the curb. She was the kind of Nextdoor neighbor I didn’t really hold a long conversation with instead it was more like a wave and “hello” relationship…but she was walking then. One day I had gotten so worried that I went to her front door and knocked on it and was surprised to hear a response. I waited for 45mins for her to crawl to the door to open it. She could not wash at this point. When I went in her house (first time ever) I had gagged bc of the stench. She had open sores on her legs with maggots wiggling on and around her. Because she was not mobile she slept on the floor in her living room…and bc she couldn’t make it to the bathroom she had bags all around her with body waste in them. At that time I think she was about 50yrs old. Her house did seem bare. I don’t know why. I only know that I had to go home to bring back stuff for her to cover her nakedness with. God did I try but that was a bigger job for myself alone. I did my best to get her Immediate surroundings less filthy. I called 911 that first day but when the paramedics came she refused to leave her house. And by law they said they couldn’t not move her against her will. Apparently she was getting ppl from the state come to help her (caregivers) but she kept firing everyone. I was helping her for a few months by myself and I am pretty sure that she was ok with just using me to do all her errands and helping her at home. I had to put a stop to it bc after a while I realized that she was becoming too dependent and demanding. I have the ability to spoil ppl. But i had to let her know that if she cannot keep caregiver then she’ll have to go to a ‘home’ bc I could not keep up the pace of working 12hr days and coming home to take care of myself and my dogs etc. she did not get along with the family member closest to her….but I ended up calling that cousin and explaining the situation. She could not live by herself. In the end the cousin started coming over to help and then after she had her last health scare that sent her to the hospital…she went straight to a rehab facility which she now lives with 24hr care. I felt bad bc I know she never wanted to live in a group home but what else could I do.

To Will Goodall.......Sadly it has always been so in the world. Some countries are worse than others. We in the West are not looking too good either now-a-days. Once people put themselves into the "care" of the government abuses will surely follow. Look around you - an increase in cruelty and neglect is everywhere too in our Western societies right now that marriage and the supportive family is being destroyed. History shows that Human Nature never changes except where true Christianity or decent kindred people have shown a better kind of behaviour and life-style. Unfortunately many people fight against any change to their misery. Perhaps our present cruelties are more hidden or in a lesser visible form, but will it will eventually trend downwards as secular youth becomes more and more callous and selfish. You had best go and fix your own family, relationships and local neighbourhood before you can justly critique other countries or seek to be seen as virtuous. Regards.

@@ladybug591 You are obviously blind to the irony in your comments (you just 'critiqued' the Western hemishpere) as does some apparent faith in a ludicrous fairy tale. Christianity has been a murderous force for 2000 years and is still invoked by your presidents before launching military forces as it was by the murderer Tony Blair of the UK. I agree with you that western society seems to be on an inexorable move towards unkindness, lack of tolerance, patience and understanding. I do not believe that religion has any answer to this. The german constitution has this sentence amongst others "Human dignity shall remain untouchable" - This should be in every countries constitution. helping such cases should not be matter of random compassion but enforcable and enforced by law. The ambulance that refuses to help, would find itself in front of a judge in germany. The law term is "failure to provide assistance" (отказ в оказании помощи) and it is a very serious offense in the german courtsystem. It might cost you your license as doctor. Similar things exist in other EU countries. Never compare to the USA, the u.s. is a 3rd world country when it comes to the treatment of the less fortunate. If youre lucky enough to get helped, you would find yourself broke for life afterwards.

Thank you for coming to this man's assistant and granting him some dignity. His neighbors are deplorable and their neglect of him. What's even more sad is only the fear of looking badly in front of the camera that brought them around to make excuses for why they have not come to this man's aide. I'm sure they would have let him die in his own self if you had not come around. They probably would have stolen with a little possessions he had left as well. Shame on the whole system and the woman you spoke to over the phone accusing you of playing a game. I hope that you instill some humanity and more people with each situation you expose. I took care of those with my parents and their illnesses. From the age of 30 to the age of 47. Mother had alcoholism and lung cancer. It was mercifully quick. Father took over 20 years to die. I did not falter in my duties but my siblings did. To this day I hold them in contempt. Fear is no excuse, sadness is no excuse. You do for the other person because you must it is part of being a human. Those who turn a blind eye willingly are to be scorned not the person who has the illness. I've worked in and around EMS for years and am horrified by the utter lack of care and equipment for your healthcare system. No gurney? Not even a blanket? No IV start for an obviously dehydrated patient? The doc seemed okay but Ludmilla threatening Sergei and from what it sounds anyone who calls needs to be exposed and punished for corruption. Bless you Sergei. Hopefully between you and the neighbours, the house can be rectified. I have doubts Michael will come home though.

We are so lucky here in the UK too, as this wouldn’t be allowed to happen. As soon as anyone called an ambulance for this man, he’d have been taken to hospital, fed and watered and nursed back to health, and social services brought in to help him find accommodation. He’d never be allowed back to such conditions, just wouldn’t happen here. The lady you spoke to should be ashamed herself, leaving a man to potentially die like that, you saved his life buddy, and for that, you’re his guardian Angel. I hope you follow up with this man and let us see his progress, once he’s eaten for a few weeks and is feeling better. Wondering man Vasya ❤️

Hmmm, I agree with your feelings, but we have very strong rules and laws on capacity in the UK. In other words, if I appear to be in need of medical attention but tell the would-be carers to go away and have apparent full mental capacity to make that decision, the law says the carers have to go, although probably repeated attempts to persuade me to accept help would be made. In the case of confusion, dementia, etc. I would be taken care of with or without my permission, but every effort would be made to get me to agree to the intervention. Absolutely agree with you about the lady, she probably voted for Putin and thinks he is the second coming!

The head nurse would be rebuked in some way in America, too. They need medical helicopters to air lift rural patients. It's hard for me to think of a modern place without helicopter service. There's a helipad for air - lifted patients on every hospital rooftop in USA.

Sergei, you're a good man and your associates, and did more on that day than all the other 'so concerned' neighbours did since February . I'm appalled that so many just passed the book and didn't help him or make sure he had food and water or milk everyday. The most disturbing thing is that shed of a so called house he lives in! How on earth did someone let him live in a rotten shed ... you can't call it a house. The poverty is awful. The head nurse is a very nasty distrustful woman who obviously didn't like being criticised and questioned. She'd be out of a job if she lived in the UK, she wasn't doing her job and couldn't care less. Once again Sergei and friends who got something done for MICHAEL and I hope he makes a good recovery and lives in a decent place. I hope you do a follow up on him.

Sometimes it just takes one stranger to change someone’s life forever. Someone finally heard the please for help and action was finally taken! Even though this is happening all over the world, this video is based on this person in particular. The way they treated him like he wasnt even a human being is sad. Bless the lady who was raising the alarm on this man, even if the people who are suppose to take care & bring aid to those around them failed at their job to do so. (The village council and medical care.) She at least tried. Can’t say the same for others. He was really lucky that you stepped in because I can’t imagine the other people who are in similar circumstances and never got the proper help they needed.
