i have listened to great Vocalists such as MS, DKp, Dr. Balamurali krishna,Jesudas,SPB.,Aruna Sairam,P.Suseela, S.Janaki,and many more. I have listened to many Violists such as Dr.Rajam family, Kanyakumari, down to Ganga Sasidharan,grand daughter of Kunnakkudi and many more .The list is very very long. But, a big but,is who can come on top as both violinist as well as a Vocalist? It is none other than the great Accarai Shubbu Lakshmi and her sister. . I SALUTE BOTH OF THEM> Jai Carnatic Music

I am a HUGE fan of Akkarai sisters too. Nothing to take away from their great talents …There are / were other vocalist / violinists such as T. Rukmini, Ranjani / Gayatri, Sriram Parasuram. Even BalamuraLi was a vocalist but also a concert level Viola player.

Great performance! Odd and complicated to follow at first, if you come from other background, but once you get the hang of it... it's just amazing! And I wonder how much of it is actual scripted melody, how much is the violonist's improvisation ? I can't imagine it's humanly possible to memorize all those motifs, passages, variations, and just line them up in proper order, on perfect time...
