I've seen this video before and now prepping for FS2020 I've watched it again. I'm very glad that VATSIM gonna be a thing in FS2020 too, but duuude, I still can't understand a single word of these distorted voices despite listening to English voices all day every day. I think it must be the distortion that usually leaving me with the immediate reaction of "What now?" when they speak, which is less than ideal when it comes to even getting info let alone responding to it in a timely fashion. Any hints to overcome this issue?

Thanks for the great Tutorial! What is the difference between a Y and Z ILS approach? Thanks
@AviationPro7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :) There are just some procedural differences in this case. In this case the difference seemed to be that the one contained the Initial Approach Fixes while the other one didn't. For other airports it might be that the go-around procedure is a bit different for example :).
@maynen937 жыл бұрын
Hi again! A couple of more points. To start of I want to say that this flight was much much better than the previous one I commented. DEPARTURE: • I know it's a sim but when on stand, if that WX radar was on in real life it would've grilled the ground crew. As well as only shown red on the display • When the initial climb clearance is a flight level it's easy to miss setting STD on the altimeters. Worth mentioning in the departure briefing as a threat. So as soon as possible after takeoff it should be set. • Pilots always set an acceleration altitude before T/O. Usually between 1000-1500 ft AGL to be set on the BARO. Different companies - different procedures and callouts. It's a height where nose is lowered and you start accelerating basically. What you could do is to have it as a trigger so that when you pass it you put in autopilot, check the MCP modes and check if STD should be set or not. After that, clean the aircraft up, do the after T/O check etc etc. • When contacting your first radar control you can state the passing altitude but you don't have to do it with the rest of them. ARRIVAL: •Descent technique; 1:33 to 1:37 The situation is you have to descend faster in order to reach fl.190 at AKASU. How can we do this if we at the same time want to descend efficient and save fuel and energy... The VNAV was set to descend at around 270 kts. Now the best way is to use that potential energy of being high and transform it into kinetic energy (speed) to make the restriction level. How to put it into practice; Sel FLCH Increase the speedbug to VMO -10 and let it dive down. That way the VS will be much faster and you might make it without having to kill all that energy with the speedbrakes that your fuel and engines produced. And it's more convenient for the passengers. I guess you also noticed you came in a bit hot on the approach. A good standard is to be 210 kts within 20 miles or so and 180 kts within 10 miles. • This is a flare technique you can try. At 40 RA, engines idle and flare a bit (Maybe 3° pitch up) - Stop the flare and check how the plane reacts - If needed, flare a bit more - Again, stop the flare and check how it reacts. So on and on. The floating happens when someone constantly flares without thinking about the delayed reaction to the planes vertical descent, Therefore a small flare to begin with, then check how it reacts before you decide to flare even more. I'm not saying you floated but I guess you landed like that because you prioritized to put it down instead of a float. On a side note, a lot of things that "Pilotguy707" mentioned could be a bit over the top in my opinion. To just mention a bit what he said... Rotation speed was good enough I think and I suppose in the Sim, ailerons are connected to the nose steering as well so to put "Ailerons into the wind", can be a bit tricky. Apart from that, great job! Keep it up!
@AviationPro7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input! :) My reply to Pilotguy707 applies here as well, I guess you understand that, but I will definitely try to implement these tips in future videos :). Just wondering about the FLCH technique, it makes sense, but does ATC in the real world like it when you suddenly start to increase your speed like that? In this case it wouldn't have mattered because there was no traffic in front, but I can imagine that in situations with a lot more traffic maintaining lateral separation is of more importance. Regarding the flare and rotation: well I am using rudder pedals, so the yoke is not connected to the nose steering. I have a joystick to control the steering tiller and the rudder pedals for rudder and small degree of steering tiller control. Things is though it's cheap Saitek stuff, so an input that I give in my Saitek yoke doesn't necessarily translate properly into an input that you see in the virtual cockpit of the PMDG 737 aircraft. Also, since the Saitek yoke doesn't have a very smooth movement, a small control input can easily lead to a large deflection of e.g. the elevators in the sim, which adds to the difficulty of flaring. I flew in a 737 simulator a couple of days ago, and the control input is really different from my cheap home sim :D
@maynen937 жыл бұрын
Yea I get it, About the FLCH thing... normally it shouldn't be a problem and if you're following behind another aircraft, ATC should give you a speed restriction early on. To get an idea if the ATC will give you a restriction, you can pop the TCAS to "BELOW" to see if you're following something tight on within around 10-15 miles. Apart from that and if there's a STAR speed restriction, ATC should plan their vectoring with loads of marginal for you to speed up and slow down as you desire in a descent. Otherwise an ATC speed should be given. Don't know how it is on Vatsim but for example EGLL arrivals they will always assign a speed because they squeeze in everyone really tight. About the Yoke stuff, Roger dodger! :) Get more fancy stuff lol

@AviationPro6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You can look on Flightradar 24 to see which runway is used for departure or arrival in real life. Otherwise you can go to a VACC website and find out something about the standard procedures at the airport. In most cases, some runways are always used for landing, but never for takeoff and vice versa. E.g., at Amsterdam, 18C and 18R are used for landing, but 18L usually only for takeoff. Same at Frankfurt, runway 25L and 25R are always used for landing, while runway 25C is only used for takeoff.

I bought the aircraft but I have problems with the AP. It doesn't pickup the GS and also the LOC is not working properly. Assume that you haven't encounter this problem. Several other pilots had the same problem I discovered on different forums.

I am confused with ATC hierarchy... what if you're departing/arriving from an airport that is within a CTR, but does not have an ATIS/CD/GND/TWR/DEP_APP controllers? What if you're departing? Do you call CTR for clearance delivery, taxi, takeoff clearances? What if there is a GND and APP but no TWR? Who do you call for takeoff clearance?

Pretty soon I will be able to get a nice flight sim setup and I would like to know if I should get Prepar3D or X-Plane 11? I just want a nice flight simulator and I would like your best recommendation.

@@AviationPro if you go back to around 55:00, youll see a ryanair taking off. when you show the map a bit after takeoff you can see him ahead of you. but at 1:15:51 i cant find the ryanair anywhere on the map. i was curious if you can still remember what happened to him. did he disconnect or what?

I will be using VATSIM for the first time, however I have a slight speech impediment. I realize I have a choice to use text communication but this may spoil the realism of voice communication. I may enter a message when I file the flight plan that will make the controllers aware of my speech impediment also it will assist me to know that the controllers are aware of my impediment. Is there any other tips you could give me? I have had a thought, do I have the option of text and speech
@AviationPro6 жыл бұрын
Hi Clive, yes, that's the best thing to do. Just put it in the remarks so that the controller is aware of it. Usually, controllers understand you better than pilots understand other pilots, because controllers usually don't have a lot of background noise. You can use both text and speech on VATSIM at the same time, so when a controller really doesn't understand a particular phrase of yours, you can always just type it to fix the issue promptly.

I was fortunate enough to have a real pilot next to me to teach me some stuff about the Level-D 767 back in the day. Other than that, I just watched lots of cockpit videos and slowly familiarized myself with the aircraft I flew by discovering all the buttons and systems one by one :).

Awesome video! The rudder of my aircraft always turns sharply to the right whenever I increase the throttle. The sim thinks that the throttle is the rudder axis whenever I check it. Do you know how to fix this?
@AviationPro6 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend using FSUIPC to calibrate your axes. Just make sure there are no double assignments, that should fix the issue.
@ngxaviation6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the reply, I will try to correct this.

Would I have to buy the full version of FSUIPC in order to do this?
