Very instructive, Thx. I can anticipate some issues with speakers depending on their native language. For instance you pronounce "CHierra 7" for "S7" when we expect to hear " Sierra 7" or "misKHo" (like the spanish jota) instead of "misGo"... So even using English may lead to misunderstanding...That's the international world we live in and , in my opinion, we have to accept the difference and the variety of languages and pronunciations.

Hello. Thank you for such a detailed and easy to learn VATSIM tutorial. I have a question what would be your procedure when the arrival completely differs from that you have programmed in FMC. I mean when the landing is due to radical weather change happening on another runway and approach is completely different. How do you change it in FMC. Is it that you simply select a new ARR in FMC? Or will you ask for vectoring?
@AviationPro6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You simply select a new arrival in the FMC, it will replace the one currently selected. You might have to remove some discontinuities in the LEGS page though. It often happens in the real world, so always keep it in the back of your mind that you might get another runway just before you start the STAR. If you are already on the STAR, ATC is unlikely to give you a new one and will probably give you vectors to the new runway.

Does ATC to aircraft pilot radio communications vary on the ground of an airport from airport to airport concerning receipt of IFR clearance on designated frequencies such as Clearance Delivery, Ramp, Ground, Apron and Tower? IFR clearances can be obtained from contact with any of these Air Traffic Control units above dependent on the ATC operational procedures in force at that specific airport. Does the pilot of an Airline have to be trained by the Airline as to which ATC unit to contact to obtain the specific clearance required at each airport?

The Series is really helpful indeed! But there is something I dont understand: Wouldn't the Delivery Controller give you your initial Altitude? How do you know how high you have to climb after departing? Thanks in advance.
@AviationPro6 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! At some airports you do get an initial altitude, but at others you don't. Amsterdam shown here has a standard climb altitude of FL60 on all SIDs, so it's not given with the clearance. You are expected to know about it by reading the charts. At other airports though, you do often get an altitude constraint for departure. The phraseology shown here is just the basic stuff, but there might be small variations wherever you go ;)
