After playing these simple run-and-gun games for so many years, it's more exciting and fun to be doing something intellectual for once! Learning VATSIM is difficult in the beginning, but so much more rewarding than any other simple minded games.

Great video as always mate, I was wondering though because in the B738 PMDG the INIT REF page asks for the cruise winds, is there any way you can find that out??
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 9 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Weather engines like Active Sky and Real Environment Xtreme come up with wind directions and speeds at higher altitudes. However, especially flight planning tools like PFPX or Rocketroute are very useful for this as they will give expected wind speed and direction for each waypoint in your flight plan.

How can you use this Flight Plans on freeware aircraft

Hi. New to vatsim but love your videos! When flying a sid, should you be in nav mode or gps. Also to hold that route, you press nav lock(or vor lock), right? Two more things, sorry. How do you determine which gates to use and how do you get the chart with gates. For example if I fly out of KJFK I don't know which gate to park at and the only charts I can find are the ground ones and they don't have the gates. Thanks so much and as always love your videos!!

+TheKillerGamer Thanks! I would suggest to look at an aircraft like the PMDG 737, because in reality there is no NAV/GPS switch in airliners like that and flying SIDs and STARs using default aircraft is very difficult. For US airports it doesn't matter which gate you pick, just make sure you are at the right ramp for your airline.

Thanks for those awesome tutorials. But is there any specific version for FSX or a specific server?
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 8 жыл бұрын
+iiMrLuckyX You're welcome! You can use any flight simulator and you'll have to choose the server with the best ping. All servers are connected with each other though, so you'll see everyone ;)

could we chat and play privately and chat with the guys, or is it ATC only? Im sorry for those questions but im a bit new to this. Im flying for about a year on TeamSpeak 3 and now I just saw VATSIM.
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 8 жыл бұрын
All is free. Your pilot client connects you to the network and you simply transit via the radios in flight simulator using a push to talk button which you can set in your pilot client. No teamspeak is involved in ATC communication at all. There are some VATSIM teamspeak servers for private chat and to fly together, but the radios are for ATC communication only ;)

Can programs like REX 4 and ActiveSky go together?

Yes. I use REX for the textures, and ActiveSky for the weather engine.

Now can you be guaranteed your exact flight route/ SID or STAR when making your plan? Does it depend how busy it is? I'm trying to start flying on vatsim but am pretty intimidated by the whole process
@AviationPro
@AviationPro 7 жыл бұрын
Not entirely. Runways can change due to a changing wind direction for example, and this changes your SID or STAR too. Or another runway may be opened when a lot of traffic is going out or into an airport. That's why it's best to start small, at a non-busy airport with only a few runways and a simple layout. In that way, you don't have to worry about a runway change that much (because the wind is not likely to turn 180 degrees around if you do not see that in your weather forecast).

AviationPro ok! I guess a good route could be a 737 from MDW-KMEM as winds don't shift often if there's no wind
