Ah I recognise this one! 😉 Which organist did KZbin think is playing this?!
@philipaggesen2 жыл бұрын
Lovely(!) that my rendition after all is recognizable 😆 So far KZbin says that this is must be a recording made by a certain...Donald Hunt?!??
@richmcveigh2 жыл бұрын
@@philipaggesen Donald Hunt - very good! He was a fabulous English organist! I’m mostly Sarah Baldock or the late Stephen Cleobury. When I submit my dispute I remind them that Sarah Baldock doesn’t have a beard and that Stephen Cleobury is no longer with us! They normally remove the claims quite quickly, especially if it’s Naxos. Well played! It’s really sweet this piece - one of my favourites!!

That's great! My disputes seem to just last the entirety of 30 days so that's just marvelous. Maybe I should try and make a much more elaborate text than just "This is organ music from the 1723!!" 😆

There's another organist on KZbin that sometimes uses this piece as the credit music for some of his live streams, but it was never identified. I actually left a comment inquiring the name of the piece and someone was kind enough to answer. I'm now exploring the wealth of recordings of the work and stumbled onto this one. I'm so glad KZbin served this one up to me, it's one of the best. Thank you for a fine job playing such a "lovely" piece by a composer who doesn't get enough credit. You did RVW justice.

Beautiful. I love this prelude. I play it most of the time for the postlude of Vespers. Rotterdam sounds like a English organ but I can still hear the chiffs of the Principals and thats great!
@philipaggesen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Storee. I actually was a bit annoyed of the chiffs and considered just using the Prestant from the Rugwerk (but that was too direct). But great that it didn't bothered you! I also think that it's so dominant on just one of the notes in the Hauptwerk and that the notes gets repeated a lot of times :)

Thanks Philip. What a nice performance. The registration was simple and "lovely". This is one of my all time favorite pieces. I have been playing it since high school and that was a long time ago. Your playing is so elegant and effortless. Although what happened to your shoes??? Ha. Keep up the good work.
@philipaggesen2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Franklin - well, the shoes are currently in the church and I think I'm too lazy to transport them back and forth, hence my socks :) Luckily it feels pretty natural to just play without them but I try to keep the appearance somewhat professionel ;-) Cool, to hear from you by the way. I always like getting some feedback so thank you for taking the time to write! Best, Phil!

Hi Philip, thank you for sharing this lovely performance of such a beautiful piece! You played it with such sensitivity while maintaining a sense of movement! BRAVO! I'm interested to know your tips for how you were able to maintain such a beautiful legarto especially with the parallel sixths? Take care John
@philipaggesen2 жыл бұрын
Hi John - first of all. Thank you for your kind encouragement. To answer your question: I think it is mostly 2 things. First of all fingering. I often switch hands to get a better legato. Second is finger substitution. When I can, I try to substitute fingers as often as I can. And then of course to practise slowly. Something I haven't learned yet 😬
