I forgot one IMPORTANT part to cover in this video. This pad still plays like a soft pad even with the stiffer thigh rise and doesn't hinder movements between your skate and shin. With very stiff pads, it is hard to rotate over the pad, the feeling is the core of those pads get in the way of your movements since they don't flex. In this video at 5:48 kzbin.info/www/bejne/epOrY6toqsalh8Usi=GjZRwXnqZHiAEq8T&t=348 you can see a clip that shows how your foot and shin can basically flip the pad over without much issue. So it still plays similarly to the overall softer feeling pad.

Awesome review as always. I don’t think anyone else does a more thorough review on gear than you. I love my SLr 2’s so I won’t be in the market for another set for quite sometime but it’s nice to know the changes that are being made so when I do need a replacement I know what to expect. Thanks again for the great videos.

Thanks for checking it out! They are long... but when I look at products I want EVERYTHING covered so I try and do that as well.

Great review. I really thought my new 2023 Goalies Plus spec velocity pros were basically a v9/ v10 hybrid but now I think it is it’s own thing and I’m glad I went with those over the v10 for my game.

Did you get the Iceberg edition? Or the V10 Special Edition?

What are the specs of your pads?

totally agree with your review. I bought these pads as a hopeful upgrade and new version of my V5 pads and it is very different. The SLR3 boot is what the V5 boot was. Trying to figure out what to do now that I have $2k invested in new equipment. Thanks for the review and wish that I had watched this prior to my purchase.

Just for context on the sizing between both pads, how tall are you, and what size pads have you typically used in the past? Just trying to gauge what size I may go for. Thanks, love the review.

You can see a few times when you butterfly the pad tilts back and lifts up at the front .... is that cause you're knee is landing off the pad?
@HockeyReviews3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I was trying some strapping thins and not using the knee to knee strap. Which opens up the channel more and... sometimes the result is what you saw there.

Thanks for the review. I see the knee block landing surface looks unforgiving than others. I’m getting old and was wondering from your experience what is a more plush landing block for the knees. Thanks

In terms of brand or materials?

@@HockeyReviews with respect to brands of pads. Was looking at either px4 or shadows. Coming from an eflex 1

I have noticed the True's more forgiving than Bauer, Vaughn, and CCM now. Warrior and Brian's are also decent to land on.

I got a question for you. I’m looking at a v10 for myself . How tall are you to get into a 33” plus 2” ?

Any chance of reviewing a Brian's Iconik set?

This is where I would suggest reaching out to Brian's and let them know you would want to see that review!

Hi. Just wondering sizing comparison to TRUE PX3? Would you say that the sizing would be the same? Thanks.
@HockeyReviews9 ай бұрын
V10 played a bit bigger than my PX3 because of the strapping, but it would be close if I could get the straps closer.

@HockeyReviews I'm looking at buying some slr3. I'm currently in some Vaughn v6 with a double break that are 34+2 and they fit great. I am not a tall goalie I am 5'9 but I know obviously sizing works more off atk. I'm wondering if I should size down because of the slr3 style and fit vs the V6 im coming from. I live 8 hours away from the nearest big goalie store so I cant just try them on like others get to. Do you think I'll be ok with the slr3 in the 34+2 or would the 33+2 work better ?
@HockeyReviews8 ай бұрын
I would go by Vaughn's FTK sizing on their site and judge by that. I'm 6'3 in SLR3 and SLR4 so...

Im using ccm eflex 5 but really dont want to get ccm eflex 6 after i demoed them and hated them so im looking to switch, how would the v10 compare to eflex 5?
@HockeyReviews Жыл бұрын
Stiffer in the thigh, and sizing they'd be bigger as well and they now have a VERY flat boot. But you'd still get the softer feeling below the knee and the softer rebounds. Would could also spec them to be even softer like more traditional Velocity pads if you wanted to.

saying they are not your cup of tea, you'll get Brians or Warrior over Vaughn?
@HockeyReviews Жыл бұрын
I just generally prefer pads with big rebounds that are stiff all around. But I'd have 0 issues using the V10 and will be buying a pair of SLR4. I also enjoy my PX3 a lot as well.

That's why I include chapters so people can skip to the parts they want to ;). But the graphic designers deserve their praise as well!
