He’s hated by a significant portion of the left and he’s started beef with many other large leftist creators. When those leftists criticise him he calls it “Vaush derangement syndrome” or “VDS”, somehow convincing his current audience that people just irrationally dislike him for no clear reason basically and they just mindlessly parrot whatever he says. It’s kind of insane. I think a lot of his followers are just casual watchers, but the more loyal fanbase are probably just like him with how they view women. I think many of the casual viewers also think his “edgy” stuff is just edgy jokes and he doesn’t mean it. I’ve seen a lot of people saying they thought the horse stuff was just jokes because of course nobody would actually admit to something like that if true, for example. I also know his excuse for allowing a lot of toxic “humour” in his community was that he was trying to bring people from the far right toward the left so didn’t want to alienate them by banning edgy jokes. So a lot of gross humour, including the misogynistic humour, was basically tolerated because people didn’t want to alienate the former Nazis lol. Anti-male jokes were banned even if clearly joking because it encouraged terf rhetoric (a stance I’d have been fine with if anti-women jokes weren’t explicitly allowed). He has a very strange community that many leftists steered clear of. His audience is also not as progressive as you’re making them out to be in many ways. They hold some very far left stances on some issues, but not so much on others. Many of them just liked debate content too I think. Of course, he’s always got an excuse for his toxicity. If you’re not thinking too hard about it or looking too deeply at what he’s posting I can see how the average casual viewer might be able to dismiss or justify a lot of it for a while. When exposed to what he’s actually like and what he’s actually done though I don’t see any excuse for still defending him. That’s the true Vaush derangement syndrome if anything.

Thank you for just calling what it is. It’s pure manipulation. He is like this on purpose and maliciously. He is absolutely aware of what he is doing because he always has an obtuse explanation of deflection prepared in case you point out the absolute transparency he does this with. It is also why he avoided calling Ethan because he knows that would be him willingly trapping himself in a corner with absolutely zero chance of avoiding or manipulating the truth. This is the most reasonably charitable stance on him I am willing to give considering the years worth of context I have witnessed. There is absolutely zero other explanation for his behavior. He is emboldened by how he has this community who is willing to build his defenses for him. This is far beyond autism, he is brazenly narcissistic and I mean this clinically.

@@Lazrael32 I was watching his first stream after Ethan’s initial stream about this and the way he would talk about it, gleefully say he wouldn’t watch it while trying to make it seem like you should be sympathetic because watching it would just hurt him so bad, and then help spread misconceptions his fans from discord and in the chat got from the stream by saying the worst faith ideas of Ethan’s motivations or just outright lies about how they covered it out loud just to lightly dismiss them while still planting the seed in the audience’s mind… absolutely surreal. Everything in the book, opening the door to making it about Palestine, like they have a playbook. Both his and Keffals playbook is mostly the same. When they first address anything they mention “I knew for a while from behind the scenes that xyz didn’t like me” to create a motive for their detractor to potentially fabricating something that is ultimately 100% true is something I clocked ages ago and they BOTH use it to this day to tremendous success to their audience. His video where he refuses to mention WHY it was made until the end and even naming the timestamp “the taxes folder” is extremely egregious. That video didn’t need to be that long but it was because he was relying on people’s attention span to drop off before we got to the fact that he had LOLI BESTIALITY ON HIS HARD DRIVE. And also never going into the actual context with screenshots for Poppy, because every single video and every single screenshot that exists of Vaush talking about Poppy up until recently makes him look like absolute dogshit to the point where he can't even ou-of-context-but-I-swear-this-is-the-only-context clip his way out of it. Keffals is even worse because she doesn’t even put effort into her obfuscation of the truth. They’ve both trained legions of 17 year olds that good faith should never have a limit and discernment is the death of intellectualism. It’s fucking out of this world how bizarre they are.

It allowed Vaush to deflect and question Ethan's trustworthiness by showing they were part of a larger stream, but this is a red herring. A far better piece of evidence was that Vaush had a twitter that shared loli as Vaush could not easily dismiss this. Vaush isn't innocent but Ethan really screwed himself.

Just want to remind you that Vaush is not medically diagnosed as autistic as he said himself. I am autistic myself and in my opinion he uses it as an excuse whenver it benefits him. He seems to be very socially aware in most situations and very calculated. Whenever shit hits the fan he just says „ah you know the autism…“. I‘m way more stereotypically autistic than he is and I would understand these situations. He‘s just manipulative and uses it as his go to excuse. Even considering that you can‘t junge his „autism“ via KZbin his behaviour is simply not consistent. He seems very socially aware whenever he doesn‘t intend to make agressive and unwanted advances towards people that don‘t want to fck him.

I like pap gut for listening to him talk about stuff but yeah this weird game is all I've ever seen him play in his vids. This game is just.. not my preference. Like you said, just walking around pouring lasers or weird projectiles out of you while the cannon fodder all around is carved into a walking path. Ive only seen a variation in enemy type very rarely and I think gut didnt notice cause he walked into him and they didn't immediately die ans then they killed him in a few hits. I’m not defending Vaush, but it’s so annoying to hear people say that using “big words” is only to be manipulative and/or make themselves look smart. I’ve heard that shit directed at me multiple times as a woman; often my vocabulary makes me “intelligent” and “interesting” when someone likes what I have to say only for it to suddenly make me “pretentious” and “bitchy” when I say something they don’t like. It’s always frustrating and confusing because that’s genuinely the opposite of what I’m trying to achieve. I try to use words with definitions that I feel most closely match what I’m trying to communicate, and if/when a word isn’t understood I’m always happen to explain or adjust the way I’m speaking. I’ve never broadly assumed that someone using a word I don’t know is them calling me stupid, I just ask them what the word means and move on. It also seems rather disingenuous to compare an English speaking creator broadly addressing their English speaking audience in a text post online to verbally communicating with someone who isn’t fluent in the same language as you.
