And justifies that with some bullshit quotes from U.S. liberal (or libertarian or rather propertarian) ideologues from 400 years ago who said only "life liberty and property". Meanwhile in the real world, right this moment 250+ countries have treaties signed and ratified like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that protect even the right to a decent standard of living, which includes not only medical and social services but sufficient material conditions for housing, food and clothing with which to MAINTAIN your health instead of just patching it up with medicine when you get sick. Fucking dumb shitstains who don't know anything about the legal concept of Human Rights should not be allowed to speak about them.

Anyone who is going to say "I have no empathy" straight faced like it's a good thing is not qualified to discuss any issue that could effect anyone other than exclusively themselves. It is going to be impossible to have a good faith argument about human rights with someone who genuinely has no capacity for empathy, because they won't be able to look outside of what exclusively is better for themselves. Guys like this just WISH they didn't have a capacity for empathy, and exist in a magical fantasy land where being an inhuman monster is a desirable trait. Like you said, it's the thing a 14-year-old would say when they get in trouble for doing something profoundly shitty to someone else because sauske or some other edgelord in their favorite cartoon or comic said it, and they think that makes them cool. His early tactic seemed to be making broad, mostly agreeable points and trying to clear bad pr of the Proud Boys, however he couldn't keep up the facade after some time. I don't know if he genuinely believed his first statements or if he is grifting/manipulating as a tactic for recruitment. Thoughts?

Listening to this live was infuriating, and I think it's because his strategy at the beginning was to pretend to be agreeable. Found this whole thing of the “toys for tots” thing. Essentially it looks like there were posts on social media saying that the Proud Boys were going to be working with the Marine Toys for Tots foundation on a Toy drive in Pittsburgh (this is reported by a local Pittsburgh news outlet). Then upon that being brought up to the Marine Toys for Tots foundation, they claimed they had no association with the Proud Boys and had no intention to accept any help or donations from the Proud Boyd. So sure there was an event “planned” but it never went beyond that as it seems the6 never even contacted the foundation.

Honestly this guy seemed traumatized from his youth and like he's desperately trying to cling to the idea that the shit he went through as a kid was in some sense his fault/a controllable factor so that he doesn't have to face his trauma and the racism he's experienced and admit to how it's made him feel. Saying that as someone who went through intense family trauma and turned to neo Nazism because of it for a few years. When this guy was talking about his childhood and how he views other people in those situations, it sounded like someone on the verge of having an anxiety attack. What really boggled my mind when listening to this live was that he said he was an insurance agent, but was against universal healthcare. I was a licensed agent in multiple states for years, and the easiest thing I understood was that larger risk pools = lower costs, and that someone on insurance coverage is *always* subsidizing their neighbors. Period. Always. The healthy in a risk pool subsidize the sick, therefore you're always going to pay for your neighbors' care. If all of them collectively have their health go down the drain then even the healthy pay out the nose for healthcare costs (IE, Little Hocking, Ohio where cancer causing chemicals were dumped into the water by DuPont for years, which caused that area and surrounding ones to have *significantly* higher instances of cancer than other locations, resulting in substantially higher cost-sharing and premiums). This is like insurance 101 and something I had to learn to pass my life/health license test in Ohio. I'm a dumbass from *Ohio* and I learned that, why the hell didn't he? This guy has just turned his brain off and listens solely to rhetoric, and does not think for himself in the slightest. The basic, most important concept of health insurance is socialist at its core (risk pooling), and health insurance simply does not function without it- it's just insane that he believes what other people tell him to the extent that he rejects what he should have learned in order to hold said job.
