On some old cars I had, it would have a steel spare wheel which needed different wheel bolts. Worth checking, although mine usually had aftermarket alloys.....may be why it has 4 bolts sitting

I did the oil change on me upstairs neighbours MK4 saloon, he got it up in the air on stands and I turns up with me magic tool for the filter... 2 pound club hammer and a hammer thru screwdriver, he's put the flush in before hand and given it a good hard drive round the lanes, so up in the air, drain plug and fill cap off, oil was blacker than a Tory's heart so whilst waiting for the short strokes on the dripping of the oil, I went round with me WD40 and did all his connector plugs, mounts and whatnot. Gets underneath, puts the hammer thru up against a flat on the filter, tappety tap tap, straight thru and spun the filter off, smeared up the new one, new filter on nice and snug, drain plug cleaned and back in, dropped the beast to get a level and measured in the required amount of what he paid for quite expensive synthetic stuff from Comma (I used to live near their factory in Gravesend lol) and job done. Fill level on the nose, engine sounds like new and took more time jacking up and down than actually anything else.

Hi Martin, Maybe an idea might be to protect that metal post so you do not damage the drivers door. Maybe a noodle {not the Italian kind) or and old piece of carpet. The advantage is not only will it stop the drivers door being damaged but you can lean the door against it getting out.
