Vauxhall Corsa D ( no crank, no start, no communication)

Hi in this video I have a Corsa D that won't start or even crank, I scanned it and had no communication to the engine control module.
Although this had the common fault of water getting into the ECM, it also had no power on 3 of the power feeds to the ECM, this wouldn't help the no communication fault.
I spent time finding out why there was no power on some of the power wires at the ECM, I checked for CAN bus signals to the module too.
This car still didn't communicate to the scan tool even when I powered up the relay that powered the 3 wires that were missing powers.
I hope something here may help someone.

Top work mate great testing as always .... I've replaced quite few ECUs in theses Corsa D , also when they have water damage they seem to blown fuse 20 10Amp in the engine compartment which disables the fuel pump and started motor ... and don't be surprised to find some knackered injectors after the ECU repair/replacement 👍👍👍👍

Mechanic Matt it’s not that expensive if you get used parts, I managed to repair one of those ECUs this week but they are difficult for being multilayer, I normally buy a known good second hand ECU and swap the eeprom but I can’t seem to find them in my local breaker yard anymore 👍

@@CarsExposed Hey I can confirm the fuse 20,10A blows. Do you change the EPROM chip itself or just the contents of the chip? Does anything have to be reprogrammed after the exchange if I have exactly the same ECU model/version as a replacement unit?

If you get a matching numbers ECU, and extract the 4 digit pin code .. there is no need to open the units at all. Most high end scan tools can do ECU reset, and ECU replacement on these old Corsas. Very easy job.

Hi Matt. Porsche boxster 2.5l 1999 model. Have misfires on bank 2 ( cylinder 4 5 and6). Also O2 sensor code " O2 sensor ahead of cat. conv. Cylinder (4 to 6)". Believe this code is same as p0150. Found that the coil on cylinder 4 had external cracks on it. Is it possible to have a vauum leak on 1 bank only or would a vacuum leak affect both banks? Thanks

It can have a vacuum leak on just one bank, it could well be causing a lean misfire, its just a case of finding the leak. Sometimes it can be valve timing out out a tooth on one bank. It could have the brake booster hose on one bank causing a fault, I watched Schrödinger's box on KZbin once have an IAC idle speed control valve cause one bank to be lean a few years back.

Great work. If its just the earth signal from the ecu to turn the relay on to power the full ecu could you not just wire the relay to an ignition earth to bypass the faulty signal out from the ecu?

I've got this on a guys car......no power only 5v in places where 12v should be ...fuses and relays ok....I found a thin film of moisture all over the ECU board and a cracked/broken 1A SMD fuse in the ECU (exactly where your corrosion was).....hoping it can be repaired and is being sent away....

@@mechanicmatt871 cheers mate...I messaged a South African guy who repairs these and he says he sees it all the time....also a mate at Vauxhall seen similar symptoms and found it was a duff Airbag module....
