Another clear and well explained video and showing real life incidents with old cars Well done as always. Despite its cheerful colour it's still a GM product with GM quality so you done well to only have one setscrew break. Ridiculous that there's not a reliable torque setting but that's how manufacturers carry on in modern times. Nice to see a bit of plastic like that last so long. Bit of a squeal when you turned the engine off, if it's not the drive belt loose try a spray of GT85 on the drive shaft of the alternator or water pump if appropriate to see which quietens the noise and take further actions if the GT85 hasn't cured it anyway.
@CarSpyTV2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion regarding the squeal, Nta16. This GT85 sounds like good stuff. If only you'd recommended it sooner! Best wishes as always.

Hi mate ! Thanks for all your videos it helps me a lot ! I'm a little on my own with my new car so you're like my dad. Last week-end you helped me change my gearshift on my Vauxhall Adam 1.0 90hp. Now I've got a "cooling issue"... I have checked my fluid levels and it appears I don't have any cooling liquid anymore. So I filled with a little bit of water in it, did a few miles and when I stopped, checked my engine and there was some water next to the reservoir. I kept the hood open, refilled with some cooling liquid under the max, heated the engine, and stepped on the gas pedal, the liquid went off the reservoir. Does anybody have an idea of what this issue could be ?
@CarSpyTV Жыл бұрын
Hello. Thanks for the kind comment. I’m glad the videos help. There are several reasons a car loses coolant. I’d check the easy stuff first. For example, you said that you found water close to the reservoir (expansion tank). Perhaps the tank’s cracked and leaking. This happened to me. To find out fill the tank, thoroughly dry its outside, drive the car, then see if the outside of the tank’s wet. Also check for: * leaks via the coolant hoses, e.g. lower radiator * damage to radiator * leaky drain plug at base of radiator (if fitted) Be careful not to burn yourself. Such parts get hot. Good luck.

Air in the cooling system can stop hot air emerging from the internal vents. Other issues can too, of course. Did you have hot air before you replaced the thermostat? I have made a video that reveals how to replace the coolant in a Corsa D. It shows a bleed valve on the top of the radiator. Good luck.

You can find a supplier that lets you search for the part via the car's registration number (and cross reference the existing part number if you know it). Then, compare any suggested parts to what's fitted to your car, e.g. position of the bolts. You can also ask the supplier for help.

General important point: those rubber seals are very common on thermostats/outlets now. NEVER use any liquid gasket, you will cause hydraulic lock in the seal channel and you WILL crack the part. 100% guaranteed
