The latest Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport may not be as fashionable as an SUV or as desirable as a BMW. But in objective terms it’s easily the equal of the majority of cars at this price point, trumping the Ford Mondeo for driver involvement and the Volkswagen Passat for practicality. While it’s a genuinely impressive car in almost every sense, the Insignia’s price is its most noteworthy feature: at just over £17,000, it’s cheaper than a diesel Volkswagen Polo in SEL trim - a far smaller car from two classes below.

Hi carbuyer I generally like your content but I have a few niggles with the script here.. James will say something positive such as cruising at 70 and at 2000 rpm and then says "however it is a likeable car" as if he was just talking about a negative aspect of the car. Its a small detail but something that really should be picked up before the video is published.

Since when have Vauxhall been German? Opel is the European name for Vauxhall, nothing says it's German. And they use the lower spec trim level because that's the version everyone should be able to afford. If I had the money, I'd buy this any day over a BMW.

Sedans don't tend to have these, only estates. E.g. look at an E-class limo, no rear wiper. It's really annoying in the rain

Hatchbacks always tend to have rear wiper, because rear glass tend to be contaminated by dust. Meanwhile sallons(sedans) rear glass tend to be clear, but rear lights tend to be covered by dust.

Without knowing the details of the deal between PSA and GM, its very unlikely, that it give PSA the right to use GM technology for any future models. So its PSA technology, which will be used in future Opels, and not the other way around.

theres a small plastic part in both the pedals and the gearbox on vauxhall and so far i have managed to break both versions just from normal driving, there are literally a tiny screw/nail size item and why they dont make em out of metal is beyond me

Currently own a 2012 insignia and its a lot better than I expected. Boot is useless though, so narrow at front of entrance it makes putting anything big in there a nightmare. I previously had a mazda 6 which is still my favourite and an amazing boot but unfortunately they switched to saloon only models so here I am.

Nearly all carmakers desperately want to move "upmarket", because that is where, the money is today. But good as this new Insignia might be, it is still a rival for the Passat, Mondeo and Talisman, not the 3-series, C-class or A4. Also this particular colour is pretty dull, so I would go for something else.

Driving this car around London now for a year, returns 31.2 mpg. Most of the time I'm in traffic. Vauxhall have told me this is a reasonable mpg.

And another thing. The 165 1.5 is more than good and way better than a 1.6 diesel (faster). DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'VE BEEN given to drive but the 165 automatic is more than fine and I say this after just previously owning a Fiesta ST!

The 1.6 turbo petrol is much better than the 1.5 by almost 40 bhp more. Its shifts and its still quite fuel efficient. Surprised you missed this model.out..

I won't be choosing one for a fleet car as the 2.0 diesel has a ridiculously high co2 emissions rate, about 10g/km higher than a German 3.0 diesel! I expect it will lose to the Ford Mondeo

Large family Vauxhalls have always had decent sized boots I've thought but no leg room. Only looks like this one has loads of leg room because this guy always has his seat pushed upto the steering wheel like an old lady. The seats have always been the worst too, far too firm for long drives. Will make a decent "used" cheap family sized car in a few years time like the rest of them. Nice review tho 😉👍 ...p.s any base model grand tourer should have a rear arm rest as standard, there's nothing "grand tourish" about this car, lol!

The Hal My Focus has very firm seats, there's absolutely no give to them but they're very well bolstered so they hold you into place and with good lumbar support i drive from London to Paris a couple of times a year in one hit with no aches at all

oh, no! it has 2 cm high boot lid!... it has no rear arm rest!... you have to shift gears, with tiring manual actions... there is this ghastly thing on the rear window that commoners call rear wiper... seeing reviews like this is pretty much like seeing someone saying: I am a surgeon although I faint when I see blood.
