Nice job as usual Jimmy. I watched one of your other vids where you removed glow plugs from a Qashqai diesel, same model as mine. Well it gave me the confidence to change my own glow plugs two months ago (despite all the horror stories you hear of them breaking!). My glow plugs were the original ones from when the car was new (2011 J10 model) and were never changed until they started acting up at 190,000 miles causing poor starting. So I soaked them in WD40 penetrant every day for a week and when I went to take them out, they all came out without a bother. They were encrusted with black crud on the threads which I took to be now dissolved rust and/or carbon build up that would have made them snap if I hadn't used the WD40 "bath" every day on them for a week. The hardest part was getting the socket on them around the fuel injector pipes but following your video, I used a universal joint and the whole job only took about 40 minutes start to finish, including reassembling the hoses etc afterwards. Thanks for taking the time to put these videos up as they really help out us DIY mechanics. If you ever come back to Ireland, I owe you a pint!!!!

question is jimmy do these have pressure sensors on also what’s the difference between normal glow plugs but also ones with sensors

Can you check if these glow plugs are bad while they are still installed into the cylinder? Can you do a simple continuity check from the central power feed to the ground and if it has continuity then it shows its good? I'm assuming you can but I don't know if there is more to it. thanks, Andy

Apologies that this is an old video, but I thought it was really interesting. What advise would you give to ensure the longevity of the glow plugs? I use my car very regularly and have done a service on two occasions in my 2 years of ownership.

My Astra needs 2 glow plugs like put euro car parts say there £114 each as it has stop start if it didn’t have stop start there £14 each doesn’t make sense

That's due to pressure sensor on them that's why they expensive. From my knowledge vauxhall opel releases firmware which won't cause Car going into limp mode with malfunction of glow plugs. They kinda fixed it. But yes they are very expensive those with pressure sensor comparing to basic ones.
