I left my mistake in the video to show everyone that may have the same problem and to show that mistakes happens and they are the best teachers, mistakes doesn't mean that you are a bad professional in any walk of life but I agree with what my friend Keith Defazio said this week it makes us humans ... I hope we all learn with this one ... cheers 👍👍👍

Nice video and explained to very small details. I have to replace my timing belt on a Astra H and the engine block, air filter and everything seems same It’s a old one 2007 and going to ask if the marks would be the same when changing timing belt? ( this time I’ll try and change it myself as have had it done at a mechanic in the past, with ULEZ coming to London next year October 2021 this car only going to be used max 10 months) Thank you

This video has saved my zaffy .. past 3 months car ran badley .. hard to start .. everyone saying the timings out ... so popped all covers off to check .. all spot-on .. then i saw the bent prong .. straightened it back out .. and yes car runs sweet as ... thanks 👍

Thanks for the video, it was a breeze! I also removed the camshaft sensor by unscrewing the whole plate it is attached to rather than remove the sensor itself. I didn't want to deal with the same problems you did lol.

How's she goin'? That was a very involved repair. Lots of equipment to remove before you can even get to the job at hand. Then damage to a part while getting to the real problem. A hard problem to pick up too. The fault code reader sure comes in handy, then knowing what that code is telling you is a valuable skill too. Everyone makes mistakes, for sure, but you were able to discover what the fault was and why it happened. Good on you for that!!! Thanks for posting buddy. You rock!!!

Great video mate, ill save it as i have to do it in the next few months, just one question, do you not need to lock out the crankshaft? Or is it just the two pulleys you locked? also do you remember what sized bolts you used to lock them? Oh and one last thing, once done are these self tensioning as the last one I done many many years ago I had to tension, cheers.

Thanks for the video. Excellent. I also bent one of those pins when fitting the cover. One question. What is the engine on this? A17dtj? A17dtr? Im pretty sure doesnt need the bolt in the fuel pump either? As this isn't timed on this car. Or am i wrong?

I would say that the camshaft sensor is on a little bracket which can be unbolted if you can't remove it any other way. On my astravan 1.7cdti the allen bolt holding the sensor has rusted up and rounded out so i removed the bracket and sensor instead 😁

Good that you also include your mistakes. Wasn't that sensor stuck because of some loctite? If so did you also use loctite when you placed it back? Greetings from Holland. Hope you will make more video's on the Megane 3.

Bertrand Van Leeuwen thanks man, I don’t think it had any loctite it felt like it was some kind of water limescale maybe the holder for the sensor had some magnesium in it, I didn’t use loctite... I have more Megane content this week stay tuned 👍👍👍 cheers

Not too difficult of a job mate but in my case a had quite few seized parts which was a pain, another thing that’s good practice but I didn’t show in the video is to mark all the sprocket with tippex just in case ... callum I have a 1.7 astra. The Haynes manual says it’s a straight swap. I guess you lock the fuel pump in case the cam lock fails. The pump delivers the fuel and the injectors decide what time to fire not the pump position. On older mechanical pumps they need timing not on common rail engines tho
