Hi Dave, brilliant videos. Very clear and helpful. Just wondering if you have the schedule and shopping lists available to send on? That would be awesome. Thanks again.

Great job again Dave, 👍 looking forward to the next one. Electrics are confusing me at the moment, I've no idea lol so looking forward to your 2nd fix on that too
@dave-watson7 ай бұрын
Thanks....the electrics are always done in a few different phases as the rest of the build progresses.

@dave-watson hi Dave, I'm still playing with my van, have gone for 240 hookup as I don't plan on going off grid, but 1 question please, do you have to declare you have changed a 6 seater van to a day van to dvla ?
@renaulttraficconversion7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the video, Dave. Great job. When I did my 2014 Renault Trafic LWB van I used 'nutserts" to fasten everything. I did not want to use any self-tapping screws to prevent metal bits from falling into the body to prevent future rust. It was not easy but things are fine after 10 years of use.

Thanks, I've never tried them but I'll take a look....always looking for better ways to do things.

Yep “Rivenuts” here in the states. Does take some work, drill a whole, insert nut use tool to squeeze it down tight. They sometimes spin if not tight (watch other videos) but they work great when it’s a tight fit.

Good evening Dave, I've noticed you didn't put a vapour barrier in on this build. Is there a reason for this? I am currently at the insulation stage and am getting mixed reviews on whether they are needed or not, I know on your previous built you installed one, was just wondering the pros and cons. Thank you for your time and your brilliant videos.
@dave-watson7 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot....there is a great debate about vapour barriers....my current thinking is in a day/weekend van like this and used plastic bottle insulation which in theory should not mould ot rot, it is not necessary. In a van which I was going to be living in for longer periods of time and cooking and using a shower, I would put one in. I know there are many conflicting opinions.....but to some degree the carpet with the spray adhesive on the back will also act as a sort of vapour barrier.

Hi Dave. Loved this video and I get the feeling you're gonna do the painted black ply ceiling with the dyed wood slats going from front to back. I hope this is the case as I love that look. And are the cabinets going to be dyed the same colour as the ceiling? food for thought? I would also like to see you convert an at least standing height van as this was the only problem I had with mine after a while. And, what about a roof air ventilation system? Looking forward to the next mate. Chris.
@dave-watson7 ай бұрын
Hi Chris....the ceiling in this one is going to be lacquered cladding with the dark carpet over the infills I put in. The next video series will be a H2 Boxer with a lot more head room. I plan to go whole hog and put underslung tanks in it, electric roof vent and a heater......I hope I can get onto it later in the year.

Hello Dave, I would like to inquire about the method you are employing to secure the additional battens, considering the thinness of the wood utilized on the ceiling. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
@dave-watson4 ай бұрын
The ceiling batons are 18mm thick and the self tapping screws make them really secure. And the actual ceiling is 8mm cladding....so not very heavy. Thanks.
@CatrionaSan19 күн бұрын
Hi Dave! I was just wondering how you secured the insulation? Thanks! Cat
@dave-watson19 күн бұрын
Hi Cat, I used the spray adhesive which is also used to fix the stretch carpet.
@davidbailey62307 ай бұрын
No vapour barrier 😮
@dave-watson7 ай бұрын
No....I don't think it's necessary in a van like this....I've listened to all of the argument for and against....but apparently most manufacturers of this type of van do not use them either.
