Love your perseverance, 2 of my injectors need doing on a trafic with 218k miles on it 😮. I’ve had to subscribe as enjoying your channel, I never take my motors to a stealership or garage. A few cuppa teas and hit the KZbin university a get back to it. Good work thank you for the entertainment and info

Little tip for lubricating things you've heated up, use wax of some sort, like a crayon or candle, hold it onto the hot part which will melt it and go down in-between and act as a lubricant, if you try spraying WD40 it will just boil off and not work
@tinker-timeАй бұрын
Good idea that 👍 that could work now. The heads off 👍, don't mind trying all sorts now if off,

Valiant effort mate! If it was me, before i went any further with that head id take it to an engine machine shop & get them to assess whether or not that head is scrap or if it can be saved. If it is scrap then obviously no point in continuing with that one & move on to the next stage.

Cheers mate,👍 Yer looking like the best option that mate, then no more messing about, 👍

Hey Mark, i have a head here, it has new valves, it has been skimmed, i fitted it, but turns out my problem was with bottom end, so got another engine, would be very cheap if you want to collect, cheers, Mark.

Cheers mate, I'll keep my eye out for a top half you never know, it been hard work, just glad I got it apart, as a last resort tho like this but they are proper welded in to the head, work to on the blue van engine next 👍
@iainball2023Ай бұрын
It's been a valiant effort, but I fear the head is now effectively scrap. The cam journals are bored in the upper cover and head in a single operation. You will be extremely unlikely to find one that bolts on and allows the cams to turn. You will likely need the cam journals line bored on top of the price of removing the stuck injectors. Probably far outweighs the cost of a second hand or recon head. Great effort, though. It's taught me a couple of new tricks, and it's been fun to watch someone else struggle for a change ❤
@tinker-timeАй бұрын
Hi, thanks for the reply. Yer the head looks bad. Now it all off. it looks like scrap, I'll keep the block for abit see if anything turns up, 👍

Hi Mark, thank you so much for all of the effort that you put into these vids. You really work hard. Could you give me your opinion on these engines, not counting the problems with the injectors? How do you rate the vans? Thanks, Mark. Paul from Widnes
@tinker-timeАй бұрын
@torchyboyz Thank you 😊 👍 So these engines are ok if they are looked after the biggest problem as you can see is the injectors this type of injector on this engine the vans are generally good, over 16 of these vans and they do drive very much like cars apart from the engine just general wearing tear but that again depends on how you look after it and what you're doing with it I like them bits are cheap and lots of helpful videos like mine forums to join any good selection of aftermarket bits, I would try buy one the nicest you can afford with a good service history and looked after Mark

Soon as you start breaking stuff, it's you, not the engine... This is like Electroboom - :-) Oddly addictive watching someone act serious while clarting the job. I'm lolling here.
@jamesward5721Ай бұрын
If you actually want to know how to remove a stuck injector, watch my "MK3 Golf bearing removal" vid - use the same stuff to knock the injector sideways around. They pop out. Not a chisel.
@tinker-timeАй бұрын
i was proper fed up with by now and was trying to just save the block, what use it going to be I've no idea, it in conner of the garage now lol, thanks for watching it wont be last injector I have to get out, I've got 5 👍of the other type out, (video on the channel) but these really were a nightmare
@johnm-wv6boАй бұрын
heat then ice water when trying to unseize things works a treat. there is some form of chemical reaction between steel and aluminum that's why most bolts and studs get stuck in ally heads. { galvanic corrosion }
@208dАй бұрын
Fair play mark ! Wet up those bores with some clean engine oil and the top of the block to stop any rusting or pitting , then put it away for a rainy day 🤦 youll probably end up dumping it in the end 😂

Hi mark , can you have a look where the injector clamp bolts hold the injector clamp down , can they be drilled to a size 10 drill bit and retapped to a 12mm tap to the full length ( diameter ) of the original clamp bolt without hitting / damaging the the cylinder head mate , someone has snapped a clamp bolt in mine and tapped it to original size and it’s failed so I have to drill and retap bigger and wider again , ive managed to drill a 10 and tap a 12mm helicoil but only gone into it with 30mm of helicoil to hold it for now but need to go deeper to get a secure hold on it so it will last , but don’t want to damage anything by going deeper until I know what’s there , thanks mate
@tinker-time21 күн бұрын
Yeah there is a video on my channel where I actually drilled it M10 and tap to M12 but I didn't go down far about 30 or 40mm ( not inc the clamp) used m12x50mm I also used stainless steel dome washers and stainless steel M12 as you can tell you will be using the rocker cover housing as part of the thread aswell, how far is damaging goes I'm unsure because this engine I still have on a stand. I'm not found of a van to put it into, but I didn't go too far down
@JohnBingo-x5l21 күн бұрын
@@tinker-time thanks mate I’ve had to do exactly the same for now gone in 30mm and backed bolt up above the clamp with washers , I’m having a headache with this van , I just hope this holds with just the 30mm helicoil 👍
@tinker-time21 күн бұрын
@JohnBingo-x5l I didn't even coil mine, it I just drilled it and tapped it I know the o.e, bolts are stretch bolts, that go full but 30mm , of a m12 compared to an M8 even 30 mm it's quite a lot of meet on a bolt,
