- yea - Shave down the handle connection piece to make up the difference in door thickness. I would not take it off the door shell. may get to weak. take it from the handle connection. . . . . coming along nice.

I sanded down the connection and it fit much better, thank you!

Looking good. Just subbed yesterday after watching a few vids. You've come a long way in 6 months. A few more months and this beauty will be on the road. Gonna be gorgeous. I wish I had the time and patience. A d if I was to pay someone for all the labor it'll cost more then the car and kit combined. Not worth it. But you building this yourself is amazing. The feeling once its done and your driving it will be priceless

It's really great that you are taking on such an ambitious project (I'm building a Factory Five gen 3 type 65 coupe now). But, your body work (filling) those gaps is not being done correctly and will lead to cracks later. You need to sand back the gelcoat enough that you can overlap the area with fiberglass and bridge the gaps. Then add fiberglass filler and bondo. It doesn't take much more time but pays off later. You also put way too much filler on your body as well. The filler should be the same height as the surrounding area, not built up and feathered out. You're going to have waves in your finished project. If you run your palm over the body, you shouldn't be able to feel anything. The body should be completely smooth and flat to the touch. Plus, you should use a sun gun over all your work to highlight any mistakes. A sun gun would be a huge help. Normal lights don't show all the mistakes. There are some great tutorials on body prepping and body repairs on youtube. I would do more research and consider getting a body guy to come over and at least give you some tips. The body work and paint is so important. Good luck man!

What does this thing weigh when it’s finished? Heavier or lighter than the G?
@PittsburghVaydor6 жыл бұрын
From what I found online the finished car is around 2,940, while the g35 weighed around 3500

In response to one bloggers comment” it’s a kit car you can build yourself if you have the professional skills and maybe they missed that bit! Don’t argue I have just given this guy expert advice too save him money If the bodywork starts cracking he in trouble and has spent money and wasted time for nothing I am a friend of Formula One known as The Consultant Keep us entertained haha!

Monkey legs LOL! Just joking. But seriously dude, you rock. Car is gonna look sweet when you finish.
@jamesfalcone2516 жыл бұрын
Hey, So I am getting my kit from tomorrow and after watching your videos ,I see were a professional should do work in some areas. Like body work. Also in this video you are filling body lines that are left alone on most builds. look at pictures. But all in all its coming along ok, just dont take short cuts. " VAYDOR Build Silicon Valley" just started.
@PittsburghVaydor6 жыл бұрын
I debated back and forth with filling in the lines or not, photoshopped some pictures without them and decided personally I like it without... I guess it’s a personal preference thing, anyways, congrats on getting the kit and good luck with the build!

If you can’t afford to professionally spray the car tell everyone and then they’ll tell you what you should do with your budget, go and get some quotes for a full spray That normally includes the sanding all the holes cut and they help you with fixings if they are experienced like your door handles!
@freerider87376 жыл бұрын
3ranstont how many comments do you need to post jesus. Put it all as one man
@ChadMees6 жыл бұрын
those lines that you claim are from the mold are just faux body lines. Kinda sad that you filled them in. It creates an artificial bumper look. IMO it will look a little weird without that separation
@freerider87376 жыл бұрын
Chad Mees looks way better without them
@heart2204able6 жыл бұрын
Dude u do not fill the body lines. The body lines are there to differentiate the differences in the body curves to make it look more its actually a production car and by you filling the lines in its will look like a kit car. So just want to point that out to you.
@freerider87376 жыл бұрын
rj s not really my freinds lambo has hardly any and it looks way nicer filled in

That red putty is the worst thing to fill holes. It’s like dust and can flake off later once painted. Keep using a regular filler and scrape out what you can of that red putty. If you research a bit you will find the red putty shrinks over time, and whatever shape you filled you will see the outside edges of it. Power wash that area and bam, paint gone.
@PittsburghVaydor6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I read up on it after some comments a few videos ago, that’s why I switched to a better filler... I removed a good bit of the red filler, luckily I didn’t put much on so it won’t take long to scrape out the rest... also some of the red spots on the car are just an extremely thin layer of spot filler putty, not bondo
@3ranstont6 жыл бұрын
You better get that quote in print for $15,000 experts smell something strange coming from your direction! $1000-$2000 is realistic don’t try on with experts! However someone starting out professionally may charge as little as $600 as it not metal work!

So paint will be a $300 mistake on take 1 and then on take two it’s another $300 mistake and then you get pain brush to finish it off in front door satin black for another $300 claiming it’s an effect you where going for, spare your family on this pal go to small cheap professional in your local area!
@3ranstont6 жыл бұрын
Get a professional on the body work it’s skilled work don’t let Vaydor down! Your not cutting back the filler correctly it should really be done by hand in this area That door handle has got you haha! A bodywork professional would have taken care of all of this making sure, all the seams are filled correctly and the panels are straight, to prevent the fibreglass from cracking! Save yourself the money go to a bodyshop and let them spray your Vaydor! $600 all in vs cans of paint from your hardware store? Hired lighting Disposable materials

He used a professional welder because he didn’t want to ruin the car with wrong welding but a professional body kit builder?! Bullshit! It’s the fun of diy to build and repair stuff yourself
@PittsburghVaydor6 жыл бұрын
$600 all in? Not sure about where you are but I got quotes locally and to finish bodywork and paint it was around $15,000... plus I get more enjoyment out of doing it myself and learning along the way, if I mess it up I’ll spend the time fixing it
@fabianbustos34616 жыл бұрын
I strongly agree you do take this to a professional body man, ive been watching your journey w the vador and there is nothong wrong w diy but if the body work isnt dont properly as well as prepped properly you will have to do it over in the future. Might as well do it right once and never have to do it again. I live and breath body and paint so good luck! Great build

An expert isn’t a barn yard job number giving good friendly advice to a person clearly on a over budget! Your job in you mother garage is the barn yard job! Your not an expert like me on auto paint work you need help!!! Spraying a car to a level is not an easy job and takes years of professional training to do it right with the right equipment! Paint any supercar should not be taken lightly and Formula One agree! Save face TODAY! How much is costing your way and do you even have the right paint or tools?
