As a committed vaylantz player since release im glad you have seen the combo potentials i have not in this set. i do prefer the original board of appo, arktos and dyna but i will take to strategy into consideration. i will see how it blossoms into the meta.

I was tinkering with Vaylantz prior to AGOV and figured I might as well see what the generic stuff offered the archetype. Pleasantly surprised at how much synergy is available, particularly between the new continuous spell and your usual summon of either Fusion/Pend ED Vaylantz Monster. I do agree that the original lockdown borad is pretty strong - just wanted to see if we could innovate things beyond what was already available to us. Also, I liked the concept of Prosperity for the extra consistency, but I acknowledge it's not necessary (and could be cut if you don't have the card IRL). Thank you for watching :)

Yeah, back when I posted this video, I was just completely taken aback by how many things the deck could achieve. I know some Vaylantz players don't play the new stuff (it does require a bit of set-up), but I just like these long, janky combos. Glad this video could be of assistance to you! I might need to revisit the deck in MD myself...

Hey, thanks for watching! Yeah, when I heard AGOV was dropping new Pend support, I felt obligated to try it with this deck of all things. It may not be the most optimal combination (pure Vaylantz has its own benefits versus you needing to put in this extensive Supreme King engine + as you say, the Superheavy stuff is likely just better), but the options this version of the deck has is pretty funny.

Hello! I was so happy when I saw your notification! I was looking for a good rogue deck post AGOV, which could be original, and you mastered this! In addition, I'm very happy to see that this is based on Vaylantz (a cool pendulum archetype) because I've played it and I still have the cards, but I didn't know how to make it even better post AGOV. I knew the new pendulum cards, but didn't figure out what they could help for. You helped me in this, I'll try your version with this. Anyway, because I cannot afford to buy any Prosperity, what do you recommend to me to play instead? Also, may you make a video with pure Supreme king archetype? Also continue your work, it is always insane and very helpful. Always appreciate your videos! I hope your channel will grow more in the future, because you deserve it!
@pk_tuneworld Жыл бұрын
I've been told you don't need Prosperity at all, so it's possible you don't even need to replace it and could just play more Pendulum extenders or hand traps. That said, my next best replacement for Prosperity would probably be Desires if you're playing a non-lockdown build - a combo deck like Vaylantz that plays very few one-ofs could benefit from the extra card Desires enable. I have not tested Supreme King quite yet and currently have some videos planned for the next three weeks. So if I do make a video, it unfortunately might not be for a bit. Who knows though - maybe I could rush things ;) Otherwise, in general, Vaylantz seems very fun and very affordable, so I hope you enjoy it! Thank you for choosing to watch the video and support me

Zero non engine cards like handtraps or boardbreaker is crucial
@pk_tuneworld Жыл бұрын
The reason why I played some non-engine cards was because I figured the combos this deck put out were condensed enough that you had space to afford the former. After all, per the video, a lot of your combos require only 2-3 cards. Nonetheless, I see the issues with potentially playing too many handtraps or boardbreakers, especially since the whole point of your deck is just going first. I'll consider cutting that extra stuff I have if I return to this deck!
@rogue_to_competitive Жыл бұрын
@@pk_tuneworld yeah its not a deck with 12 handtraps but at least 6 spots with high impact cards i think are necessary to break through boards or stop them a bit

With that horn of heaven searcher you dont need all the pendulum spirits. I switch to moissa knight a long time ago and feels better imo.
@pk_tuneworld Жыл бұрын
My reasoning behind playing the pendulum spirits were to have reliable high scales in cases where you need them. The Horn of Heaven searcher is incredible, but the fact you have to pop it to search the counter trap means you don't always have a high scale for follow-up in certain hands. Although the spirits obviously don't search a negation, they at least guarantee you some sort of play on subsequent turns. This is also why I played them over Moissa Knight - Moissa's high scale + neat monster effect when drawn are nice, but I don't like how it shuffles itself back into deck. I'm no expert on the deck though, just so happened to make this one video. You may end up being right in deck choice.

Yeah, I've started to notice that the surge of Master Duel videos has made it extremely hard to find content for rogue decks in the TCG specifically. I remember trying to find stuff on Kozmo, but 90% of the recommended videos were just MD. Guess that's just a result of rogue being rogue :( That said, happy to share the combos I came up with! I'm not Vaylantz expert as you might be able to tell, glancing at my channel's usual content. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed tinkering around with it - I'm a sucker for those toolbox-esque decks that can achieve really unique combo lines. I've been told Prosperity isn't necessary. So, if you wanted to just not play that card and or any replacement for it, you could easily just play more Pendulum extenders or generic hand traps. Otherwise, Desires would be my favorite next option - depending on how you build Vaylantz (locking your opponent versus a generic Pend combo), you might be able to afford the banish 10 since you might be playing 3 ofs of the major cards. Otherwise, not sure unfort

More or less just a Small World target. There are some occasions where you might consider summoning it via its own effect - in those cases, it's a nice answer to certain established boards. But there's not too much synergy elsewhere.
@metamurloc Жыл бұрын
good but how does it behave in the second turn with a full opponent's field.
@pk_tuneworld Жыл бұрын
Vaylantz is unique in that, unlike other Pendulum decks, it doesn't require your normal summon. You can then elect to play some of the more aggressive Kaiju-esque monsters like Lava Golem and Sphere Mode. Furthermore, Vaylantz combos can be 1-2 card combos (some other viewers noted the Supreme Gate stuff isn't 100% necessary), which would mean you would have more space for generic cards like hand traps or concessions. At the end of the day though, in spite of these points, Vaylantz still suffers the problems Pendulums normally do in that the mechanic can be kinda clunky and hart to set up. It also can get completely blown out by cards like Dbarrier and Anti-spell. TLDR: it has more options than you'd expect, but may still suffer from being a Pendulum deck.
@metamurloc Жыл бұрын
@@pk_tuneworld No, in fact I understand full mechanics, I am a Vaylantz player, the criticism was going. Because the deck profile proposed in the video was not without handtrap, etc. But the inclusion of the "pendulum evolution" and the "horns" is interesting.
@pk_tuneworld Жыл бұрын
@@metamurloc oh, understandable. Yeah, when I came up with the list, I was just trying to figure out the most absurd board I could put out to sorta highlight the archetype got better post-AGOV. The video ends up being more a showcase of deckbuilding theory rather than well-versed practice. Some choices are for sure not the best. Apologize for that.
@LorLoLorcana Жыл бұрын
I think SPGM is kinda clunky and always requires two cards and you’re adding like 6 bricks with the horns, and the harvest angel package.. I feel like using wakaushi and coral and ending on baron and hand traps is better than trying to assemble a two card combo every game which is kinda unrealistic
@pk_tuneworld Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm no expert on the deck, so it's possible you're right. I was just probing the archetype to see how far it could go at the cost of potentially playing cards it didn't need to. When I made this video, I also was under the impression Pend decks shouldn't try to play too mid-range since the mechanic itself doesn't favor that style all the time (having to maintain scales + still have enough interactions to stop your opponent). The Superheavy Package is probably be better, though I would argue a two card combo really isn't that hard to achieve.

@ssjEasterBunny Жыл бұрын
Watch the actual video first. _Some_ of the end boards include Fossil Dyna or Secret Village, but at least half of them have no floodgates - just Apollousa for monster negates, Arktos for spot destruction, and a searched Black Horn of Heaven. Honestly I'm not even sure it's better than the pure deck's end board before AGOV - which keeps Apollousa and Arktos, but replaces Black Horn of Heaven with Dominator Duke _(steal a monster permanently during the opponent's turn)_ and sometimes a Hojo as well _(fuse the stolen monster into Mamonaka during the opponent's turn for yet another spot removal)._ I personally skipped past the combos in this video that included floodgates, because I agree those are cringe.
@pk_tuneworld Жыл бұрын
I apologize in the case that you had expected the deck to change from what it once was. This video was meant to highlight that the AGOV Pend cards enable Vaylantz to do what it does more consistently and more lucratively (lucrative as in your combos net you a lot more while requiring less in hand to start). In theory, Vaylantz can play without the floodgate board combos - a lot of the mid-combo boards you see can easily be pivoted to other things.
