By the color and look of the road base it appears to be Blue Shale 3/4 minus. Blue shale compacts very well and seems to work better as a finish product on driveways.

The guy that did the stone at your house was really good with the spreader! This guy is working on it, looks good. 8) Wish I could find a little horse barn like that. Would make a great place for me to live and for my guitar shop. Love the old wood stalls and interior!! Nice place!! Your making it even better!! 8) --gary

@@VBELTandSON Well now I feel dumb!! LOL I just remembered how cool the "trailer" part was, that slid back into the box, and how even he spread the whole (two?) load(s). Cool! --gary

I wish my customers were half as easy to please as you LOL….if they have to touch one bit of it with a box blade I’ve had them refuse to pay. Had to learn to get REAL good the hard way. That hump/ pile he left at the end of the first load would have gotten me cussed out.

That looks like commercial road base, you didn't pay for state spec did you? Is there Recycled concrete road base out your way?

A John Deere 210 skip loader would be a handy machine on that job site.

@@VBELTandSON there’s a nice one on marketplace right now in California for $21500 with like 4K miles, super clean machine for its age. I keep eye balling it

@@VBELTandSON no it’s not. I think it’s a fair price for a clean machine of that age with 4K and new tires. Most of those machines nowadays have 10 to 12k hours on them and clapped out

Looks like somebody needs a actual driver that can spread gravel not just a wheel turner lol

Guy is actually a great driver. He miss understood what I wanted on the first load and went thick.

I said the same thing, but then I saw people saying how good he did including the guy who owns the channel…..I guess in CA it’s easier to please people than it is where we work. I know that hump he left at the end of the first pass would have gotten me cussed like a dog and I’d have been there for an hour with a shovel spreading it out and having to knock a few bucks off the bill if I wanted to get paid at all. Usually contractors that have machines on site are easier going but I always do the best job possible regardless, it keeps me in practice so when I spread stone or asphalt millings on somebody’s driveway who doesn’t even own a shovel they end up with a good road and are happy to pay me and call again next year.

@@J.R.in_WV not sure what the big issue is. Sometime folks miss their mark or misunderstood the plan. I consider the driver a friend and enjoy seeing him on the job site. Not about to become a tool to him and ruin the day for both of us of something that I can fix in minutes. Sounds like you deliver to little spoiled kids that need to grow up. And watch this video of the same driver spreading stone for me at another site years ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/inSaenRjlKaDg5Isi=rSByCDg3rczreIY-

Yeah when I first started hauling I left a few humps and the guy said you should have just piled them up he was a little graphic until I open the door and stepped out then it was don't worry about it people think because they pay you can say whatever I don't play that I can always find another job lol there is a art to it and something the material just won't cooperate
