Heyyy! My general advice is to get on your summer reading. It's important to have a foundational understanding of the texts you're studying, to sort of set up your thought process and how you wanna view the text. When studying the text itself in class, definitely engage and pay attention to the discussions and conversations about the text. If there's a certain theme being discussed, try and take it further, go deeper into the implications of that the author intends on commenting as a result of their inclusion of such themes. For essays, practice makes perfect. Write out essays with the intention that with each practice essay, you're actively incorporating feedback from your teacher. If you're not getting good feedback, definitely look for online forums such as r/VCE on reddit or ATARNotes to submit ur work and get anonymous feedback. Building up your vocabulary is another good way to get an edge in your essays. Try and absorb how high scoring students write their own responses, they would most likely discuss things that you may not have considered. It's always good to have a unique angle. But, at the end of the day, it's about developing your interpretation and refining it until you are confident with your ideas. Sorry for the convoluted response. Best of luck with English! Any more questions don't hesitate to ask x
