If you're a service tech (plumber, hvac, electrician, etc) working in a small place or working on a piece of equipment, 700 lumens is MORE than adequate. When you're a service tech all you want is good light in a small package that won't die on you when you're in a crawl space or force you to go back to the van to get something else. Alright Vince, I can personally say I am pumped about this light. Most of your expertise is in the construction field, NOT so much the car accessory field. I install remote starts all day through winter. I currently use the 550 lumen 4V Rover, but battery changing is a pain. The higher lumen lights are too big for under a dash and you need a light this size to coordinate placement while working. Flashlights are too narrow a field for use and can't be set down. I think your opinion is narrowed to your field. Keep it up though, love how critical you are!

I work as an industrial electrician and I'd rather have a light that ran all day than one that burned ultra bright. If I need mega, mega bright light on one spot I'll just get my headtorch. I can't use a flashlight while I work because I need both hands and I need the light where my hands are, not shining on the back of my head. I dont want to have to run through batteries all day. I really want them to update the M18 rover with newer LED's so I can buy it. I'm hoping that's what is next on their list. Being able to tell the difference between brown, black and blue is important to me, mainly so I dont blow up panels. Not sure I agree with you the rover is designed more for mechanics to light up a 5ft x 5ft area at at close range with out cords, hands free, and without taking up space like some of the bigger lights. Where as a flash light its designed not only to light up areas close to you but far away. Honestly you don't need 1100 lumens to light up an area close to you that is over kill. You need those lumens to light up far away. If you need that much light for close up get a big flood light. The flash light is not hands free so if you want to use both hands to work you have to lay it down or hold it in your mouth. I think it is more than adequate to do the job it was designed to do.

Did you actually use it in a dark room to do work to see if it was bright enough yet before making your comments? You did not do so in your video. You may have discovered the 700 is more than enough for the application and the complaint was not warranted. This is a smaller light and might be more practical in tighter or smaller places. You can always go to a bigger light or a m18 light in bigger spaces anyway. This is more compact to carry and store than the m12 or m18 rover. For a brighter light then you can use the bigger m12 rover, and the m18 rover which will have the advantage of more battery capacity. Plus there are the m12 and m18 lanterns as well.

When working under the hood, working under the vehicle while it’s jacked up, even just changing the tire this light has been AMAZING. Don’t get me wrong bigger is always better, but 700 lumens lights up my entire front yard. I find I’m using it on low for most tasks when the light is 2-6 feet from my work. Personally, I love huge lumen ratings, but I refuse to use them if they kill my battery. For instance my Olight can do 1,600 lumens for two minutes. Then the battery steps down the run time significantly. I rarely ever use the highest mode because I’m not interested in draining the battery in a matter of minutes. 8 hours of runtime on 70” lumens is mind blowing to me. Lights up a medium sized room, and 8 hours is a long time. I couldn’t be happier with this light.
@stevenkeller3863 жыл бұрын
Like others have said, it comes down to run time and the quality of the light output. This is a higher quality flood/area light vs your pocket light which is more of a point light. In regards to USB charging, I agree, USB C at full amps should be standard at this point. They should be looking to do what Skil has done and put a USB port on their batteries as well. Skil is somewhat lucky, they are (re)entering the cordless market with fresh standards and a clean drawing board, they don't have to drag legacy tools and batteries along like everyone else.

Not very practical but it is nice having the output at times I suppose.

Nope it a more mecanic oriented light like a lot of m12 products Most mecanic ligth are in the 400 lumen and don't even last 4 hours and you can't change the battery so you need 2 to go all day at work But it on the lift post for under light or under the hood

Bad rant. I think they got it right. You don't need over 1K lumens for task lighting. Not giving more light than needed and more battery life is what they were likely thinking. As soon as I see one on sale, I'll have it.

Regardless of the connector on the end of the cable, the USB type A port USB 2.0, has a max amp output of 2.4, rarely is there a usb type A 3.0 port, which can do up to 3amp, usually has a green or blue or purple colored port where the usb 2 is white on the inside. A usb type C port on both ends, can go up to 20v 5amp 100w, if both devices support it, that is why many laptops can now use USB to charge. The adapter cable Vince used will work, but only at the 2.4 amps, meaning it will charge very slowly, if the device supports fast/quick charging, it will not provide enough power for that and it will charge ‘slow mode’. Something like an iPad Pro, it will not charge at all, as the iPad needs more than 2.4 amp just to run, so it still uses some of the battery when it is plugged in.

True the light is built in such a way that the expectation that it should be brighter is reasonable. The size of the light dictates where and how the light will be used. Do you really want 1000 or more lumens inside a cabinet or under a dash? The unit is plenty strong for how I intend to use it. Do I think that milwaukee released it, the way it is leaving room for improvements and a gen 2 ? Absolutely.

I agree I tried to light up my whole backyard to work on my car last night and its horrible as a site light. DUH?!?!? Damn light is very nice. Perfect for work light! I just bought another just in case the first one breaks. Its not a light up the whole garage.
@joepedersen74843 жыл бұрын
It’s a work light, not a flashlight.... I would rather have the rover working under a sink, working on a car, lighting up a room, etc. Two different tasks. Looks like an awesome light to me. 700 lumens for that run time seems like a win to me.
@legros7313 жыл бұрын
Yes he is literally blinded by the lumen number and can't see the use for this light
@johncarne48843 жыл бұрын
Love the look of this light can’t wait for them to be available in the uk. I think 700 lumens is plenty for its size especially for working in tight spaces or working on boilers, under the hood of cars. I like a previous comment about if it was brighter it would shine back at you and make it harder to see also it’s go the runtime for if your doing a boiler install 8hrs on a bad day. honestly if you need more then get a rocket or m18 rover.

@@idude1471 There is Type A (normal usb) and type C (the new reversible, kinda lightning shaped). Those are the only two ports that supply power. Then there is all the ports that consume the power, USB-C, micro USB, mini USB (super old), then the random ports for TV's, monitors, consoles and such. But in terms of power supply there is only A and C.

Vince, I think you should listen to your own words of wisdom in this very video. You said that trying to do too many things means you wont be very good at one specific thing. It seems to me that this a compact light designed to be used in tight spaces where there is such thing as too much light. I think this light will be very good at that intended design purpose. I will personally use the hell out of this working under the dash of a car or under a sink where something bigger is unwieldy, something brighter will have too much light will just make glare unbearable, and a smaller handheld flashlight that gets hot and chews through batteries is impractical for extended periods of work. If I'm in a larger space where I wanted more than 700 lumens and that much light wouldn't blind myself, then I would use an M18 Rover or even a Rocket series which will give me more light and more runtime. I think Milwaukee has a winner here and I will be picking up one very soon.
@roberterickson63313 жыл бұрын
If they put more lumens it wouldn't last a full 8hr shift i think it's great and will be getting 1 tomorrow

Just a thought but seems the intended use for this light is small spaces where there is such a thing as too much light? So they're making the brightest possible light thats "usable" and while doing so increasing run time...just a thought 🤔???
@bryanmcfarland9673 жыл бұрын
Hi Guys!!! Vince, your points on this lights are right on the mark! It's another example of Milwaukee having a good idea, but just missing the mark. The same can be said for the plastic railing on the new Milwaukee two-wheel dolley. Milwaukee should definitely increase the lumens on this light. Any M12 battery could support more lumens in addition to supporting the USB features at the same time. And, why isn't the USB-C port fast charging? It should be. I wish that light had a hook, and the light swiveled in an additional circular motion to give more flexibility. And lastly, why does Milwaukee still sale an M18 flashlight for $49 at Home Depot that has only 160 lumens and an M18 LED light stick ($55) that is 300 lumens? I love the design of those M18 lights, but the prices they demand for those lumens is ridiculous! Increase the lumens Milwaukee and give us more bang-for-the-buck!!!
